Fuel Price: Fayose accuses Buhari of deceit, says govt. can’t deregulate, regulate same time

Ayodele Fayose, Governor of Ekiti state

The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has called on Nigerians to pray specially for President Muhammadu Buhari, saying, “the president
needs God to give him the necessary wisdom to be able to find solution to the country’s economic and security problems”.

The governor also challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to relocate to Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe and move around there without heavy military security if indeed he was sure that Boko Haram had been defeated.

Speaking through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, on Saturday, Mr. Fayose said, “only God’s intervention can save Nigeria from the present economic and security problems as it is glaring that the man running the affairs of the country at the federal level does not have any answer to the problems.”

“Even the Holy Bible said in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God and as it is, Nigerians must assist the President in asking for wisdom and understanding to tackle the country’s economic and security problems before Nigeria is further plunged into more woes with the federal government’s decision to borrow N2.2 Trillion, which translates to N6.066 billion per day to finance the 2016 Budget,” he said.

The Ekiti governor described the Federal Government’s announced reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre as a continuation of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC,’s governance by deceit, saying, “Even secondary school students of economics know that you cannot deregulate and regulate at the same time”.

The governor said, “it is only in a confused and clueless economy that government will plan to spend more when revenue has reduced by more
than 50 percent”.

Governor Fayose, who maintained that petrol will not sell below N100 per litre in 2016, added that, “Even now that the price is N87 and subsidy is yet to be removed, Nigerians are buying at between N130 and N300 per litre. What will now happen when they remove subsidy and allow market forces to determine the price?”

The governor also described claimed by the Information Minister that Boko Haram insurgents had been defeated as strange, saying, “Nigerians will only take the minister serious if he relocates to either Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe State and stay there till the end of March, next year without heavy military security.”

He said, “To show their level of confusion, two days after the Minister of Information declared that Boko Haram had been defeated, President Buhari said the government would persuade Boko Haram to abandon their fight. One then wonders how the same Boko Haram insurgents Lai Mohammed said were already defeated will have to be persuaded to abandon their fight.

“Interestingly, the same Boko Haram that Lai Mohammed said had been defeated reported attacked Kimba village in Gur ward of Biu Local
Government Area of Borno State yesterday night.

“Therefore, the Information Minister must show Nigerians how peaceful Borno and Yobe States have become after the defeat of Boko Haram by
relocating to either Sambisa, Maiduguri or Yobe.”

……then what is your problem ? Most you see problem in anything about life? The truth is that: if a government will reduce its non essential spending it can do a lot to people.
Please they should take this man to hospital for psychological evaluation.

    • Otile

La Illah illala Mohammadu Rasulla. Mutum Muslumi barka da Id-El-Maulud Nabiyi. Ina kwana? Where have you been recently? We suffered 2 horrible massacres, one at Onitsha, and another at Zaria North, but nobody heard from you. Did you not hear our cry or what? It seems oil price fixing is more important to you than the lives of people. I thought you were a good Muslim, now I know better.

      • favourtalk

OK ease get a life, who cares about this your hate. Read news very well, you will see the presidency talking about those attacks. Google is your friend

  • Africa

Fayose the loud mouthed criminal at it again… Very very bad politics even at Christmas.

  • Bright Henry

Just as he(Fayose ) does not answer the barrage of accusations and allegations put to him by Ekiti APC, so also does the Presidency have no business answering this dmwit stoned on coke.

    • maigari B

      are right bros

  • Arabakpura

Fayose is a funny man; where was Fayose when Jonathan didn’t find the courage to visit Yobe school where innocent children were massacred? It’s on record that it was after the APC governors visited Bornu state that Jonathan and PDP elements got seriously challenged!

    • share Idea

Pls can you advise Oby to continue protest of finding their Chibok girls or are they no longer important. The difference between what Fayose is saying and what APC did to previous government is that Fayose is saying the truth that can be verified by anybody regardless of of your party affiliation.

Please what is the price of fuel in your area now? How can government say that they will remove subsidy and at this same time fix the price. Please when last did you hear government talk about pricing of diesel – because diesel have been deregulated. Nigeria we hail thee

      • Arabakpura

I very much doubt the sincerity of the 85 Naira pump price! I consider it an ingenious engagement of the populace to buy into the subsidy withdrawal and then be left to the market forces and the devices of the marketers!
However, I don’t expect Fayose to always tell us what we know; I will like him to tell us the ones we don’t know!

        • share Idea

I’m a bit lost with your comment. Did you mean that you know that the current administration is taking the citizen for a ride and prefer it that way but rather not allow Fayose to provide alternative views to government propaganda that is wrecking havoc in the country.

          • Arabakpura

Fayose has nothing to provide but noise making! Except you are in his mode which I am not; I don’t ever consider his submissions serious! I will take notice when reasonable and responsible people speak.
My position was reinforced by the comment he made; that he had before the elections opposed Buhari and will continue to oppose him even when he is right! In his warped understanding, he thinks that is opposition. I always see his comments as that coming from a jester bug it will appeal to the PDP sentiments especially now that there is a dearth of spokesmen from the PDP! I never see him as a serious man and I am sorry if you take offense at my position!

          • share Idea

My gee, you seem very intelligent from your comments, and it will not be nice for you to reduce yourself to level of closing your eyes to the truth just because of your dislike for individual. It is good to have an open mind to issues even when you don’t necessarily agree with the conveyor of the message.

Your quote “…My position was reinforced by the comment he made; that he had before the elections opposed Buhari and will continue to oppose him even when he is right! “, is never mentioned in the article under consideration and should not have been brought up even if your quote is correct.

Fayose is not the best of person to be a role model for new Nigeria governance but the current administration at the centre have made him instant celebrity because of their childish lies. Buhari and his government are fond of telling blatant lies that is not needed for them to pass their message across. Lies can elevate someone or government to a great height at a time but it is hardly ever sustained if there is no underpinning policy to sustain it which is what the current administration is going through.

          • Arabakpura

No, he is not my celebrity and I apologized to you for my position! He is not an authority to quote because he adds childishness to the whole thing and I am serious! If you read my comments carefully, you would see my objectivity in seeing through the shenanigans of the government and not necessarily partisanship! If he were not a governor Nobody would even pen down his nonsense! Like I said somewhere he is just filling in the gap for the PDP rabble to celebrate!

  • Amir

I dey laugh! Fayose from bus driver to PDP economics professor? What does the stomach governor understand about deregulation or price modulation? Before the next election most PDP followers will not be able to meet up with the level of knowledge required for public office. We have moved on from the ‘goat eat nyam’ level of discourse in national politics.

  • Muhammad Kano

This man is not sane at all.

  • Elias James

I have always thought that, in Nigerian politics, our Yoruba people are perhaps the most sophisticated. So, for this kind of buffoon to emerge as governor in one of the the Yoruba states is beyond shocking. Besides, as a young man, if this clown of a creature in any way represents the face of future leadership in Nigeria, then heavens help us. A disgusting fella all round.

  • Omoekoogidi

Does this disgrace of a governor moves around without security even in Ekiti? What a shame that this kind of person in a governor under pdp.

    • Holy truth

Only can happen in ekiti, where dumb is ruling d wise. U couldn’t have xpected less.

  • Mcleomat

    Wailing wailer governor…

  • Kekedu

Sorry Governor Ponmo-for-All, this is beyond your brain power. Just continue with your palmy shack up.

    • Holy truth

Far, far beyond his 419 brain bro. U nailed d point seriously.

  • Holy truth

Trust me guys fowlyose was at JEDI & shekpe joint downing some serious shekpe in d name of curing his pile while his boy was releasing dis press release. Don’t blame it on him too much blame on d woman who sells shekpe to him everytime

  • The main problem we have with the subsidy removal is that the same idiots that brought our nation to a standstill when the idea was touted some yrs ago, now are diehards to remove the subsidy. That goes to show how fraudulent they are. Fayose is on point.

  • Jika

This guy is a huge joke.To think that the good and enlightened people of Ekiti have this charlatan as a Givernor really makes me want to puke!!!!

  • PolyGon2013

Fayose, you are doing your job as opposition. How are you running your state? I’mean sure that you are given enough allocation to turn Ekiti’s fortune around.

    • Shehu Monguno

Just got back from rivers State, the question should have been directed to Rotimi Amaechi. Port Harcourt is a stink hole yet Rotimi Amaechi was going around the country condemning former PGEJ.

  • favourtalk

Believe this guy at your own peril. Nigeria will surely be great again, nobody can stop the change mantra going on. The next budget coming up in 2016 is going to turn things around for all of us

    • Burning spear

One of the greatest minds in the South West –a bundle of real courage—–Now the Awo of the Yorubas-Blessed to be a blessing unto the world ati Nigeria–hater him love him it will never take away the power of his voice for the voiceless people of Nigeria–animals

      • joe

Why do you people celebrate thugs in your society and celebrate thugs in others’ societies, and celebrate thugs everywhere?

    • Damilola

Yes Nigeria will rise again. But under this dispensation it’s a pure divine miracle where the obvious doesn’t affect the reality.

  • Patarium

No thinking faculty is active, only hate for the man Fayose, despite the rationl points he raised. How can government remove subsidy and still provide for it in the budget, and still go on to regulate market. Janjaweed kagawa logic. Only goons will think along party lines and attack Fayose all the time.

    • Enemona

where was subsidy provided for in the budget? You n Fayose are confused.

      • Damilola

Sometimes u have the point with wrong application. You, Fayose, this man u replied and myself are saying the same thing. You’re not feeling someone and u still want to av dominion over this same person, how possible is that? Can you? The marketers will definitely sell what they buy bro, so the price modulation here is a contradiction of the step on Subsidy, an abberation at worse. Or do u buy goods in ur shop from Aba and the govt tells u how much u sell it? Common sense!!!

  • Very Proud Oily IZON Redeemer

The APC has been consistent in saying that the PDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 disastrous years In which corruption ,impunity , insurgency , armed robbery and several ills of society held away.
    But a very close look at the APC, I am seeing;

    1. Rotimi Amechi – 8 yrs speaker & 7 yrs governor under PDP,
    2. Atiku Abubakar – 8yrs Vice President under PDP,
    3. George Akume – 8yrs governor & 2yrs Senator under PDP,
    4. Bukola Saraki – 8yrs governor & 2yrs sanator under PDP,
    5. Timipre sylver – 4yrs governor under PDP,
    6. Audu Ogbe – 2yrs chairman of PDP,
    7. Barnabas Gamade 3yrs Chairman of PDP & 3yrs Senator,
    8. Kawu Baraje 4yrs Secreatry & Acting Chairman of PDP,
    9. Ghali Na’abba 4yrs Speakership,
    10. Aminu Masari – 4 yrs Reps speaker,
    11. Aminu Tambuwal – 4yrs Hous of Rep and 3yrs Rep speaker,
    12. Chris Ngige – 3yrs governor under PDP,
    13. Rabi’u Kwankwaso – 7yrs governor & 3yrs Defence minister under PDP,
    14. El-Rufai – 4yrs FCT minister & 2yrs BPE chairman under PDP,
    15. Olagunsaye Oyinlola – 7yrs governor under PDP,
    16. Aliyu Wamako 7yrs governor,
    17. Adamu Aliero 1yr senator & 2yrs FCT,
    18. Atiku Bagudu 6yrs Senator,
    19. Danjuma Goje 8yrs governor & 3yrs Senator,
    20. Oga Dino Malaye 4yrs house of Rep,
    21. Aisha Jummai 3yrs Senator,
To cap it all, they all went to OBJ begging, a man who spent 8 of the disastrous 16 years as the maximum ruler of Nigeria to come and lead them on a rescue mission.
To me, APC is a waste basket of the PDP, where the people who created and perpetuated the “” 16 “” Disastrous years are now dumped

  • IG

The question is that has Fayose himself being able to make Ekiti prosperous???????? The answer is a big NO. He runs Ekiti like a confused man with no brain. A Governor that depend strictly on federal government revenue to survive.

    • Damilola

Ask the Governor of your state how he runs his state. The problem with them all is that, they all depend on the pocket money they converge to earn at the end of every month in Abuja, no insight on moving away from such “Almajiri” sentiment. Now that the money they all depend on is plummeting drastically, I think they can all rethink or leave the post. But that does not mean the man should shut up and stop being an opposition voice. Like it or not he has his flaws, but he’s still at the moment the strongest voice of the opposition, which against any other thing, Buhari even in death will remember. Or will u in all sincerity and objectivity claim all he said here were lies? Give us ur own accurate account and let’s get over this already

      • Onike24

No one is saying that he shouldn’t be the voice of the opposition, which ordinarily holds the goverment to account. There are however two facts that cannot be ignored, one is the fact the he allegedly RIGGED his elections, the allegation was supported with evidence and he has never challenged the allegation. Second is the elephant in the room, the fact that PDP destroyed Nigeria, a party that Fayose is a member and therefore he has no moral right to critise anyone, let alone the goverment saddled with clearing the mess. Also, Fayose does not appear to understand the simplest economic principle, he is nothing short of a nuisance and should be told so.

        • Damilola

I think you should go back to that page, someone analysed the likes of Fayose that destroyed the country in 16 years in APC. Why do you keep deceiving yourself? Where has the election rigging confirmed? How has that become an albatross on him not speak out the truth as it hurt him himself? In as much as he can discern issues “rationally”, for now, for whatever reason, is plausible.

          • Onike24

???????? What exactly are you trying say? Perhaps you should write in Yoruba!

          • Damilola

You won’t fathom, it’s beyond you. But I’m sure ur conscience understands, I leave u with her torments.

          • Onike24

Na wah Oh, I said I didn’t understand your English

          • Awolo

You don’t have to waste your precious time educating these drowning persons. They are already regretting the day they wasted their votes on Buhari..

        • pekeez energy

If your salary is N200, and you children’s school fees gulp N50, feeding, N50 others N50, then you save N50. ..now if your salary drops to N100, its only reasonable to change your children’s school to N20 (with good education still but less social amenities) reduce feeding to N20(instead of 4meats, it becomes 2) and others N20, then save…this is good economics, but on the part of the FG, they want to atleast build road and power, so that Nigerians can see dividends of change by borrowing to impress or better yet to develop?? 2016 will tell which it is

          • Onike24

You are making no sense! None at all.

          • joe

You just betrayed an undeveloped mind and underdeveloped brain. There is nothing wrong in borrowing to invest in the future big and successful businesses do this -ask Google,Facebook etc.. and governnments in developed countries do this -ask the US, Britain etc. What you definitely should not do, is borrow money from a bank in the name of a folk, steal the money and stash it bank in the bank (like your heroes past did). The bank will be happy of course if you are that daft to give them back the principal and make the folk pay interest on it forever! That is the difference between what the present guys are doing and what your heroes like Jonathan and Iweala did!!

  • Niyi Akinlabu

What nature of ‘truth’ can come from this worm pit? Beyond stealing and employing Govt funds for self-aggrandizement, what does this jerk know about governance?

    • Damilola

The best you can do is to attack his personality not the weight of the rational thought here. If not pick on those points he made and explain It better. He’s not a saint, no one is doubting that, he’s been rational and thoughtful cos he’s in the opposition, no doubt, but saying that his criticism all those while and the one now are frivolous or horrendous is saying how parochial and myopic ur tots are. If not sir, enlighten is with ur own tot on these issues and tell us why this “thug” is wrong.

      • Awolo

Obviously you can see that the young man does not even know his left from his right. He cannot fault Fayose because he does not know anything other than to say what he heard from PDP haters. These kind of people are the ones that foolishly voted for Buhari. He will soon cry out loud.

  • joe

It is a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. A guy that belongs in a prison cell that is sitting in a government house ,would of course run his mouth like this. Like Saraki, he is a scapegoat begging to be made. The EFCC should please intensify their investgation of this thug and lock him away forever and finally!

    • Damilola

No just tell me this “Criminal” is wrong and tell me why?

  • Man_Enough

It is most unfortunte that fayose has not outgrown partisan politics after winig election to the position of governor. Foyose must realise that time has come for him to purge himself of bitterness and align himself with the efforts of apex leadership by contributing constructively instead of consistently and brazenly antagonising every move of the current afministration. He is behaving as if failure of this government is to his glory.

  • MushinSpeaks

Whoever thinks Fayose has sense in his head should also be checked. His sense has been replaced with that of cockroach reason you see him spitting rubbish here and there seeking attention that can never be given. A disgrace to Ekiti and a lose mad dog.

  • ed

The truth is the truth regardless of how or whomever is coming from. Fayosi had it right this time around. Nigerian need to do simple math here. Buhari should be honest enough to
Layout the options on fuel prices. Nigerian must not be taken for granted. A serious government treats the people with respect. What’s happening now is far from that.
We all knew that subsidy regime was and still is a criminal enterprise from the get go.
The change agent should’ve address the fraudulent middlemen issue. Then disclosed the deals where crude oil were exchanged for fuel, at what cost.
Show us the Blackmailing of Nigerian by those greedy middlemen.
NNPC should’ve been made the sole importer, under close supervision.
What Buhari administration is doing now is what we call lost leader in marketing. The same fraudsters will continue to run the show. The price will be reduced temporarily.
Only to go way up after all the noise are gone.
President Buhari’s told BBC that he’ll negotiate with Boko Haram to end the war, just after he claims to had defeated Boko Haram.
Shouldn’t prosecution be the next thing on the agenda on dealing with beheaders of our innocence children, women and men. President Buhari was elected because we thought he’s a man of integrity and honesty.
The president is risking the only thing he had going for him.

  • New Nigerian

Classic Fayose – the white noise generator of Nigerian politics
