Armed kidnappers, numbering four, on Monday evening abducted a four-year old boy in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The victim, Steve Kanu, is a nursery one pupil of Mercyland International Private Nursery and Primary School in Abeokuta.

Residents said the gunmen stormed the victim parents’ home at Laderin Estate and took him away.

The mother of the boy told PREMIUM TIMES that the gunmen stormed the house when Steve was playing with a puppy in the compound, while she (mother) was busy with household chores.

She said the suspected gunmen, including a lady, pretended to be visitors and knocked the gate of the house, when the boy, who was busy playing with the dog in the compound, rushed to open the gate.

Residents said the boy was immediately taken into a waiting taxi with no registration number which zoomed off.

They said they chased the abductors to no avail before they disappeared shooting sporadically in the air.

When contacted, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyemesi, said all police formations in the state had been notified and directed to fish out the suspected kidnappers.

However, the parents of the boy implored anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of their son to contact them via telephone numbers  08033258190 and 08060577733.
