The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari to move Nigeria forward.
The sultan spoke in Sokoto on Monday night at the yearly Ramadan dinner for journalists in the state.
” Traditional rulers have been making recommendations on how to move Nigeria forward and every patriotic Nigerian must do this.
” We will continue to do this to ensure that Nigeria prospers as an indivisible, united nation,” he said.
Mr. Abubakar, who expressed happiness with the peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections, said:, “The change Nigerians had yearned for has now come and the work to actually realise that change is yet to begin.
”The real job starts now and all Nigerians must join hands to move Nigeria forward irrespective of our differences.’’
Mr. Abubakar admonished Nigerians to live according to their religious injunctions, saying, ”afterwards, we will leave the rest to God and things will begin to take shape”.
The sultan, who decried the developments at the National Assembly, advocated the use of the law to resolve the impasse.
” We must trust God and sit down as one family, discuss the way forward and this will be the better option for Nigeria,” he added.
