Though they cannot boast of the best of preparation going into their opening game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Super Falcons of Nigeria still give many a glimpse of hope that they can hold their own against any opposition; including Sweden who they will play by 9pm tonight.
The abundance of talents in the Falcons squad and the respect the Swedes commands as the 5th highest ranked team in the world suggests that the first Group D match will be quite entertaining.
As stated by the organizers of Canada 2015, tickets are already sold-out for 30, 000 capacity Winnipeg Stadium.
This is the third time Nigeria will be playing Sweden at the World Cup; in 2003 the Falcons were thrashed 3-0 but they gave a better display in 2007 when they forced a 1-1 draw.
Super Falcon line-up: Precious Dede, Osinachi Ohale, Ngozi Ebere, Onome Ebi, Josephine Chukwunonye, Halimatu Ayinde, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Francisca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi, Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala
Reserves: Ibubeleye Whyte, Christy Ohiaeriaku, Blessing Edoho, Ugo Njoku, Sarah Nnodim, Martina Ohadugha, Perpetua Nkwocha, Esther Sunday, Cecilia Nku, Loveth Ayila, Courtney Dike, Iniabasi Umotong
