U.S. Vice President, Biden, urges Jonathan to remain global leader

As global commendation continue to pour for President Goodluck Jonathan over his role in recent peaceful elections in Nigeria, U.S. Vice President, Joe Bidden called on Monday to commend for his leadership.

Mr. Bidden, who spoke with President Jonathan, urged him to “remain engaged and play a leadership role in global issues” as his presidency is gradually winding to an end in a month’s time.

A statement from the U.S Embassy in Abuja also congratulated the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on his victory.

The statement reads:
“Vice President Joe Biden spoke today with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to commend him for his leadership in ensuring Nigeria’s recent elections were peaceful and orderly.

“The Vice President noted that President Jonathan’s actions to accept the results and congratulate President-elect Buhari, as well as his steps to date to ensure a successful transition, have strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and set a strong example for Africa and the world.

“The Vice President encouraged President Jonathan to remain engaged and play a leadership role in global issues after his presidency ends.”

    America and their busy-body…

    • tundemash

They are just trying to guide a bull out of the China shop. Or what is wrong in calling a mad man the bridegroom so we can have our way !

      • Flavo

        @tunde, u r right dude

  • Lemmuel Odjay

There is no money to steal or mismanage. By playing big global roles after leaving office, ex leaders who did well and had acquired a wealth of knowledge by leading people are invited by institutions all over the globe to educate others. After such engagements, they are showered with respect, and recognition and are hugely compensated financially. That, apart from their fat pension schemes at home would just be enough to care for self and family. Above all, it gives you the satisfaction and joy that you are being appreciated and called upon to share your experiences for the enhancement of the human race. Tony Blaire and Bill Clinton are examples that readily come to mind. Other than looting the commonwealth of your people while serving, this is a better way of making money that attracts satisfaction and peace.

    • tundemash

And having seen and heard Dumbo speak in the last 6 years, are you convinced he can engage anyone in any intelectual discuss ?
America is just trying to guide a bull out of the China shop!

      • Lemmuel Odjay

…if he keeps the bottle of pure gin away, that is. I lived in the Niger Delta for about six years and know that the “bottle” is never too far away, while they love to take it neat and undiluted. Now, that is like repeated stings of a black scorpion. After you get addicted, it twists your tongue so your uttered word is detached from your thoughts most of the time. (what I WANT to say I end up not saying) if you know what I mean? Intelligence has no part to play in it. It is heavy…

        • Abdulazeez Oyibo

          You funny o.

        • tundemash

          lol !!!! u dey craze O !

  • Debekeme

USA still worried handover may still be sabotaged.

They know us well. They are just calling to say; we are watching you, be careful.

    • humm

Totally agree with you because they have seen that May 28 hand over is a sleek move by Liar Donothing. He will end up in jail cuz all the signs are there.

    • New Nigerian

Jonathan better know now that if he tries any shock move, President Buhari is automatically the president come May 29, 2015. If he is in doubt he should find out from Aristide, who the US removed from Haiti overnight and “settled” in Central African Republic..The “handover day” is indeed the handover day, if he is not ready to handover, we would pick up his handover notes and give them to President-Elect Buhari and the hief Justice would do the ceremony.

    • burning spear

They imposed buhari on Nigerians——————–it was not the will of Nigerians to have buhari as president of Nigeria————-the obas and emirs and sultans–did it

  • tundemash

Yeah right Biden …. in Yoruba land, we say, let us call a mad man the bridegroom so we can have our way !

    • Onike24

Lol! One of the most succinct adages of the Yoruba Language.

  • Hajiya Binta(nee Osinbajo)

Yes, corruption was massive under GEJ, but he has written his name in GOLD by resisting the temptation that plagues most Africa leaders.
How many of these violent APC lords would have been humble in defeat to concede as GEJ did??
Did they concede in Ekiti wen Fayose beat them black and blue?? Didn’t they keep prodding Fayemi who knew he was floored not to accept??

This recognition by the U.S is what past leaders like OBJ crave for!
Sadly, the self acclaimed ‘elder statesman’ has never been able to match his actions with his words.
This will further infuriate Mr know-it-All who will do anything for global recognition.
Too bad for bad Belle people ranting here.
If e dey pain una, mke una swallow APC tablet!
    A-fee-C! Changeee!!

The APC did not even concede in Anambra where they won only one local government during the governorship election.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu: The Most Corrupt Man In Nigeria

Before 1999, Tinubu had none of these:

      1. Oriental Hotel
      2. Falomo Shopping Complex
      3. First Nation Airline
      4. Lekki Concession Company
      5. Apapa Amusement Park
      6. Maiyegun Land Project
      7.The Nation
      8. Renaissance Hotel
      9.Tejuoso Market (Joint ownership)
      10. Ikeja Shopping Mall
      11. TV Continental
      12. Converted Lagos Poly land for TVC
      13. Owned NNPC Office building in Lagos
      14. Radio Continental
      15. Owned School of Nursing building in Lagos
      16. Tax Collector of Lagos State (Alpha
      Beta)
      17. Wife is a member of the National Assembly 1
      8. Son-in-law is a member of the National Assembly
      19. Daughter is the President-Gener al of Market
      Women Association in Lagos
      20. N4 billion government financed property for self at Queens Drive, Lagos.

Tinubu acquired all of the above and many more not listed after he became Governor of Lagos State, first in 1999 and won his second term in 2003. He remains Governor Emeritus of Lagos, controlling the State’s treasury through his protege Governor Fashola. He is greedy and may forfeit all, if he doesn’t play ball. You read me right,
people! He may lose everything if he declines to play ball with
President Buharis certificate saga which he forged for him- Everyone knows Tinubu used Obj–Jega and the CIA to impose Buhari on us–so Buhari should commence his anti-corruption crusade with tinubu–for all to see–.

  • hummm

I love American style sha. They are reminding sleezy JONA that “you must hand over as we expect you to do on May 29 or else you are going down”

  • shola

Jonathan a global leader?. So he should be jetting all over the world preaching
his theses: “Stealing is no corruption”
The fact that he accepted his defeat doesn’t make him a hero. At most a national, not an international.

    • michael

Buhari lost 2011 election and refuse to accept defeat, he given urge his supporters to starting rioting which claim the life of 1000 nigerians, u must be ignorant not to know what may happen to nigeria and africa if goodluck refuse to accept defeat. if 1000 was killed when buhari lost, calculate how many that will be killed if peradventure goodluck refuse to accept defeat. next time think very well before u comment.

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Most Yoruba have drowned their brains in hate but just wait, give them and Fulani some time,we shall see the karma,it has already began.

        • Joe

I can tell you that Fulani/Yoruba partnership can never, I repeat, can never work. Unlike Fulani/ Hausa partnership, Yoruba and Fulani can never work together because their ideals and visions and perception of life are parallel. Wait and see what will happen in the next 18months after which Buhari will re-appoint new set of ministers: Yoruba will be shocked.

      • campol

        Good reminder

where was the the USA then—did they ever ruge the Buharis to accept defeat–double standards-Obama is a disgrace to Africa——-he wants to more white than black–and a curse to Nigeria———don’t mind Biden—it’s the Apes in APC that are mounting pressure on the USA–to force Jonathan keep quiet–there can be no peace without justice—we elected Jonathan not buhari

    • burning spear

President Barack Obama’s decision to provide undeclared backing to the All Progressives Congress (“APC”) and General Buhari, violated a long-time American convention of non-interference in the elections of other sovereign nations.

The series of patronizing actions, sponsored by the White House, culminated in a joint statement on March 30th 2015 by the American Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry and British Foreign Secretary Mr. Philip Hammond, alleging that the election results “may be subject to deliberate political interference”.

This broadside was released when the vote collation was still ongoing, thereby casting undue aspersion not only on the entire electoral process and the almost thirty million voters who participated in it, but indeed the nation itself.

This was the second unsolicited and unwarranted diatribe by the American and British pair, the first being the denigrating joint missive authored by the same duo on March 21st 2015, precisely seven days prior to the election.

The said election has already occurred, but the repercussions from the historic event shall continue to generate reactions for many days, weeks, months, years and perhaps for all time. what a shame

There can be no peace without justice—————Biden who rigged Buhari into power should leave Nigerians alone—WE DO NOT NEED ANY ADVICE FROM THE OBAMAS–WHO RIGGED THE ELECTIONS FOR BUHARI—–The message by Joe Biden WAS SENT to Jonathan DUE TO THE PRESSURE MOUNTED BY THE SULTANS– OBJs—- SOYINKAS and thee Apes in APC–afraid Jonathan will challenge the rigging machine of Jega—–who aided the Obama government to impose Buhari on us

…as Dr Goodluck Ebele Akpan Jonathan leaves office, Nigerians are left in the hands of a certificateless illiterate Duncee who just capped his profile with a award by TIMES magazine which awarded he and Boko haram leader, the prestigious award of the top 100 most influencial personalities of 2015. Duncee & Shekau were able to cow about 6m votes from Yoruba West in a block voting after Duncee consistently threatened, and Shekau consistently killed.

With my oil resources in the hands of he with an F9 in mathematics, an obvious accounting calamity is imminent. God help us………but there is always a limit to tolerance of mediocrity. When that time comes, there will be no need to broadcast…..
