We’ll not insult Buhari – PDP

Olisa Metuh

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has said that the party will provide a decent and credible opposition that will constructively proffer sound alternatives to the policies and programmes of the in-coming administration without recourse to insults, propaganda and deceit.

Mr. Metuh, who stated this on a federal radio, FRCN, programme on Thursday evening, said the PDP would never insult or denigrate the office and person of the Nigerian President.

“The PDP is a political party built on values, tradition and utmost respect for democratic tenets. Our manifesto and ideology center on national peace, stability and prosperity and we shall uphold this at all times. In this wise, the PDP as always, will continue to work in the general interest of the Nigerian people.

“We will not resort to insults, blackmail and lies with the aim to distract or ridicule the person or office of the President. However, we must state in very strong terms that we will not allow them to lead the nation astray. So we will firmly oppose any anti-people policy and programmes as may be introduced by the APC,” Mr. Metuh said.

Mr. Metuh also said what the PDP would do is to present sound alternatives to Nigeria.
Commenting on the conduct of the April 11, 2015 governorship and state assembly elections, Mr. Metuh lamented that the process was characterized by brazen irregularities against the PDP in most states.

He upbraided Nigeria’s electoral umpire, INEC, and security agencies for the “barefaced overzealousness” on the part of some of their personnel to please the winners of the Presidential elections.

Mr. Metuh said concerns are already on the rise regarding the fate of the nation’s democracy under the APC “especially given fears that the impunity that characterizes the local government elections it conducts in Southwest states may now be extended to other parts of the nation”.

Noting that the elections witnessed massive conspiracy against the PDP, Mr. Metuh said his party would not complain in areas where the people clearly preferred the candidates of other parties, but will decisively pursue its mandate in places where there were clear infractions against the PDP.

He said such instances abound in states such as Imo, Jigawa, Plateau, Adamawa, Lagos, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, Nasarawa and other states.

He observed that in Imo state, authentic result sheets were replaced with those from Kaduna and Katsina states with fictitious figures awarded to APC.

He also said the most scandalous was in Ideato North Local Government Area where INEC awarded about 34,000 votes to the APC even where the number of PVCs collected in the area stood at about 26,000.

The PDP spokesman said his party is collating and analyzing reports of the elections from across the country and will take decisive actions within the ambit of the law to protect the interest of its candidates and the mandate of the people.

He also noted that the PDP has commenced its rebuilding and repositioning effort and is poised to regain power in four years’ time.

    As a first step towards achieving all that you have said,particularly regarding the ‘insults’ angle,I suggest the expulsion of the following from the PDP;
(1)FFK(for his unrepentant religious and ethnic bigotry)
    (2) Ayodele Fayose(for his death wish on others)
    (3) Mama Peace(of the almajiri and brain dead fame).
    (4) Pa Edwin Clark(For his un elderly utterances).
    (5) Buruji Kashamu(For his unguarded utterances against OBJ).
    (6) GEJ(For referring to certain elder statesmen as ‘no better than touts’).
    (7) Olisa Metuh(Of the Janjaweed fame).etc etc.
After you have purged your party of the above named individuals and several others not mentioned here, then you should go into penitence for 16 years and beg Nigerians to forgive you for the untold hardship(s) they have endured. There after, your case will be revisited to see wether you have really changed and,are to be trusted with leadership again that will be beneficial to all, irrespective of religion/region and other affiliations.See you then.

      Hear, hear, hear!

Mr. Metuh, I hope you are reading and taking notes.

  • babatope

Hear the liar! Metuh seller who doesn’t know nothing.

  • Truthometer

Really? You are not going to insult Buhari…..If you want to insult him nko? So, you people finally found his certificate or he is no more Islamic fundamentalist or he is no more brain dead? Upon all your insults, he remained calm and God gave him victory. God is greater than you! Look at his head like cobbler’s hammer. Nonsense!

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

      “Cobbler’s Hammer”?

      Bruv, you no easy o!!

  • Chiotu Nnamdi

PDP would disintegrate and re emerge into alliances of APGA,Labour and frustrated APC factions. They would contest for power strongly depending on how APC manages its victory.PDP can never be same again.

  • amazing2012

……when ? Is there any insult morethan the one he recieve before ?

  • Powerlessconscious

You rebuild to maintain power before elction and your party PDP loss. Who told you nigeria would be the same in the next four years. Even if you rebuild again in the next four years, PDP would still fail. They have to start again on Sanator and governor levels and behave very well by not using power. Have good manifestos and execute them like APC. this is when Nigerians can remember PDP for good again.

But for now, in the next 5 generations to come, PDP is a forgotten party.

  • tundemash

Metuh should start the campaign of “not abusing Buhari” by releasing his certificate where they kept it !
These cl0wns were boasting less than a year ago that APC will be history in a few months and that they will rule for 60 yrs but we flushed them out in 6 weeks !

  • New Nigerian

PDP should first see to internal democracy within their party as a matter of urgency. We need a credible opposition and we hope PDP would be that party otherwise others like UPN or APGA should step up to the plate

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Not UPN of Mr. Fasheun of the OPC notoriety!

Would rather have the PDP as it is instead!!

  • Emmanuel Ayeni

Olisa Metuh, maybe you first need to apologize to this nation and to the President Elect for the unguarded statements made against this fine and disciplined GMB. You can then promise that your party will not retrogress into the disgraceful behavior of insulting GMB. To be mild, FFK was a disgrace to your party.

  • Mosaku 147

PDP can never resurrect with it’s name remaining same. The earlier Metuh realizes they are dead and buried in the minds of most Nigerians, the better for him. APGA and SDP should start warming up as the main opposition party.

  • FirecloudOFGOD

Metuh, I do not want to rake open an old sore of how Madam ‘Peace’ called Buhari a “brain dead” person! How can denigrating the life style of certain Nigerians in the north as having children and ‘throwing them on the streets’, be unifying?

  • favourtalk

You are even at the end to loose more on this issue because you don’t know what to say.
You need a lesson like lai Muhammed predicted.
Change is here and I wil advise all PDP to live with it

  • Hcredo

It’s only in PDP that people expect to get accolades for not resorting to insults and deceit.

  • Datti

PDP called Buhari more names than what Abati nicknamed GEJ. Please remember that it was Abati that named GEJ ‘clueless’ in one of his many essays against GEJ before he saw the light, Naira wise

  • excel

Come to think of it metuh need tutor, uncle Lai is right after all. The pdp that called GMB all sort of names before and during the campaign? Metuh is a joker you will be more frustrated as an opposition. You will not have the gut like Uncle Lai to manage your current position. It will do metuh go to take a tutorial from Uncle Lai. Good news free of charge, free education will start from metuh. Thanks to Uncle Lai

  • justice4all

Am sure mama piss shud be thinking y she allowed fools like metuh, ffk, abati, fayose, akpabio to get close to her husband

  • Frank Bassey

I am surprised at this decision. APC insulted, abused and castigated President Jonathan. You should do same to Buhari. That is the only way you can be listened to. It has become a practice; run with it.
