PDP not dead – Niger State governor, Aliyu

Babangida Aliyu

The Governor of Niger State, Mu’azu Aliyu, has stated that contrary to widespread permutations, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is not dead.

He said the party will come back in 2019 to take what it lost in this year elections.

Mr. Aliyu, who made this declaration Wednesday when the campaign organization of Umar Nasko, Niger State’s PDP governorship candidate, visited him at the government house in Minna, said the PDP will meet at the state and federal levels to correct its mistakes.

“Our party is not dead. When all this cools down, we will properly re-organize to bring PDP back to its formidable political strength. Many things have happened and this is not the time for us to cast blames,” Mr. Aliyu said.

The governor also expressed hope that the party would add more ideology to what it already has, as it reorganizes.

“Let me urge you to stop thinking you have failed. In terms of elections, particularly the time we found ourselves, it went beyond the limits of individual effort,” he said.

The Niger State election was won by the APC.

The governor also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the general election. He said the elections were free and fair, devoid of electoral violence.

He also thanked voters in the state for conducting themselves in the most peaceful manner during the elections.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Aminu Wushishi, commended Mr. Aliyu on how he took the elections despite his party not winning.

He said the governor exhibited the character of a good leader.

He urged him not to be dismayed by the results adding that he has done well in providing the dividends of democracy to the state.

He said the challenge faced by the PDP was that Nigerians made up their minds on a particular party, not minding who was running for any office.

“We will continue to be with you wherever you go. You can always count on us whenever you need us. We have seen your work in all the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State. May God continue to bless and guide you in your future endeavour,” Mr. Wushishi said.

……is you that is dead !

Babangida Aliyu, this ugly-looking joker. Thank God, due to his greed and corrupted mind, he pulled away from joining APC. He never belonged to the fold of the Progressives. Good riddance to a loser. When Accord Party, SDP, and Labour Party hopefully would have merged – without Mimiko please – and PDP is gasping for air when all Nigerians would have avoided them like garbage, Aliyu’s red eyes would have cleared.

    • Strong System

      Agreed that pdp isn’t dead.
But when Buhari seizes all the loots and jails the thieves for donkey years, then pdp will be pronounced “dead “,
Don’t mind the frog, he is eyes will open very soon!

  • Kekedu

Bro, PDP is dying… should be dead by May 29

  • Moe

Of course PDP is not dead.
In order for something to die, it must have been alive at some point in time…
You and I both know that PDP is nothing but an acronym representing a congregation of of individuals
with the particular interest of enriching the nation^.

If the chairman of PDP asks me nicely, I can give PDP life. DOn’t ask me how yet.

p.s. the nation refers to one’s self.

  • Chris1408

Ok, PDP is in a coma it will never recover from.

John Arbuthnot once wrote: “ALL POLITICAL PARTIES DIE AT LAST OF SWALLOWING THEIR OWN LIES.” This is exactly what PDP as a party did. PDP is almost dead, because the leaders of this party didn’t want to listen to the grassroots. PDP as a political party is dying because the population is becoming less and less tribal with less religious bigotry, which is still practised by PDP stalwarts. The public has quite clearly decided that the future of democracy lies elsewhere: in popular protest, social media campaigns, single issue groups and so on. The death of PDP was clearly and vividly written on the wall, but its staunch members thought otherwise. The TALAKAWAS (Hausa word for masses) did indicate that to the ruling party, but nobody wanted to listen to them. ANYWAY, ANY PERFORMER, WHEN FACING THE COLLAPSE OF AN AUDIENCE, MAY QUESTION HIS SHOW. Unfortunately, PDP did not do that. In politics, it is not good for one political party to have a total dominance over the others, because this leads to absolute despotism, which is ultimately rejected by the masses. This precisely what the PDP did in Nigeria. I can recall what Goerge Washington said, namely: “The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism.” I hope this will not happen to APC. No, God forbid!

At the core of the problem is the dismal failure of successive governments to integrate the peoples of Nigeria into one indivisible country. A country that favurs one tribe over the other, that encourages mistrust between its component parts, that glorifies “hammering” over morality and justice is only sowing the wind to reap a hurricane. Why would anyone want to give his all for a country that does not take care of him? If our leaders were humble enough to come down to our level to tell us the truth about where we are and where we have to be, we would be more likely to follow the right path. But the current ones we have are unable to see beyond their belies or their gilded mansions abroad. they forget that one day, it will become too cold (or dangerous) to stay there (Europe and North America are going through their own meltdowns) and they will have to come back to face the music.
