The Vice President, Namadi Sambo, on Monday, called the governor-elect of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, to congratulate him for emerging victorious in last Saturday’s governorship election.
Mr. El-Rufai’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement, added that Governor Ramalan Yero also wrote an official congratulatory message to Mr. El-Rufai. This comes after the governor’s call on Sunday to concede victory to the APC candidate.
Mr. El-Rufai polled 1,117,635 to defeat the PDP’s Mr. Yero who scored 485, 833.
Mr. Sambo, according to Mr. Aruwan, wished Mr. El-Rufai a successful tenure in office and urged him to use his wealth of experience for the peace and development of Kaduna state and Nigeria at large.
Mr. Sambo further appealed to the citizens of the state to give maximum support and cooperation to Mr. El-Rufai.
Mr. Sambo also tasked the incoming governor to work hard in taking the state to greater heights.
Meanwhile, celeberation continued at the campaign office of the governor-elect.
Crowds of party members and supporters danced into the second day while Mr. El-Rufai received visits from prominent Nigerians.
At the office, Sunday, were businessman Hakeem Bello-Osagie and Pulitzer Prize winner, Dele Olojede.
