Nigerian governors congratulate APC, Buhari over electoral victory

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has congratulated the All Progressives Congress for the emergence of its candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, after the March 28 presidential election as president-elect.

The NGF in a statement, Wednesday, by its Director General, Ashishana Okauru, also congratulated the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party and all other political parties for the success of their various candidates in the National Assembly elections.

It said the emergence of Mr. Buhari at this point in Nigeria`s political history, is nothing but the will of the people and the voice of God, considering the fact that he had previously contested the seat three times.

“We thank President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his concession of victory,” the forum said. “This is the mark of true sportsmanship. We call on all other political party leaders to follow suit.”

NGF also said it looked forward to a successful conduct of the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections on April 11, 2015.

“The task ahead of the incoming administration is enormous,” it said. “We, pray that God uses Gen. Buhari as President working with all stakeholders, to lead the country across party, religious, ethnic and sectoral lines.

“This is the level of cohesion needed to meet the yearning expectations of all Nigerians and move our country forward.”

Lets we forget that the Nigeria Governors forum is not enshrined in the constitution, it had not and does not add value to governance, not even a peer review, yet it has a DG. It ought to be scrapped like the office of the First Lady.
