Buhari firmly ahead of Jonathan, APC prepares for celebrations

With its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, firmly ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan based on released results, the All Progressives Congress, APC, all but certain of victory, has already rolled out the carpets set for celebrations.

At the party’s Abuja office, red carpet has been rolled and a stage set for what an official of the party said will be a “Thank You” speech by Mr. Buhari as soon as the final result of Saturday’s election is announced.

Mr. Buhari currently leads Mr. Jonathan by nearly 3 million votes, with results from only two states states yet to be tallied by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Many leaders of the APC arrived the party’s secretariat in anticipation of the victory celebration late Tuesday.

A PREMIUM TIMES’ correspondent has sighted the Director General of the party’s campaign, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and former Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi at the office.

Others at the venue were former PDP chairman, Audu Ogbeh, Senators Bukola Saraki, Danjuma Goje, Ibrahim Gaya, newly-elected Senator, Dino Melaye.

Mr. Amaechi, in a brief chat with newsmen, said the party “would be magnanimous in victory”.

Congrats to Buhari (great warrior), Tinubu (master strategist), Amaechi (dogged fighter), Okorocha(dogged fighter), Lai Mohammed (most brilliant spokesman), Jega (you have done Nigeria proud for your principle), Capt. Koli(your name will be unforgotten forever), Nigerian masses who stayed in rain and sun to vote out the rogues, online fighters @wahala, kay soyemi, maria, guguru, adeniran, and other too numerous to mention. For years to come, our great grandchildren will relive this moment with nostalgia and bless our own memory !!!!

      • tundemash

May God reward you abundantly!!! Thank you too for the sacrifice and doggedness. This is our our version of Arab Spring. We took our country back from the rogues!

        • James Breen

Tundemash- I disagreed with you on a few occasions but I think it is important to state that democracy wins and Nigeria is more important than any individuals. The people have spoken and Nigeria should move on. You put your points together with eloquence and style and even if I disagreed with them I would like to be magnanimous and say congratulations. Regardless of who anyone supported in this election, Muhammadu Buhari is now our president and we should support him. I wish you a very good evening.

          • tundemash

RESPECT & a million gbosa to you.
It was important that we signal to the politicians that power belong to the people and we reserve to use that every 4 years. Gone are the days when an uncouth and illiterate wife of a President tells us their party will rule for 6oyrs as if our votes don’t count.
Every party in power, including APC, has just 4 years to perform and we see a significant improvement in the right direction else they are out in 4years. That is the significant lesson in this election. And the other is we used this election to say NO TO ETHNC and RELIGIOUS DIVISIVENESS !

I extend my hands of fellowship to you and other like minded Nigerians !

          • James Breen

Well thank you. Now that we are friends, I fully agree with you about No to ethnic and religious divisions ! This is what has been killing Nigeria. Thanks for having the grace to reply to me. I appreciate it very much and I reciprocate /extend the hand of friendship back to you. The comments you made in bold type have demonstrated that you have a fair and pragmatic approach and not an acute biased view. I wholly admire and respect that. God bless

P.S. Just seen your last post about the list of people to be arrested. I have got to say, you made me laugh !!!!

          • tundemash

James, in the spirit of the great liberation, there is a party we are organising at Otuoke if you wanna come , if not feel free to pass the I.V. on.

          • James Breen

Well as an Ijaw man I know exactly where it is !!

          • tundemash

ha! ha!! ha!!! I like that . Next time you have the chance, give us your best and we will all be proud of him.
Insecurity, lack of good hospitals, inflation does not know tribal marks !

          • humm

You forgot to include the third girl Nzogi Okonja Iwala

          • Hummm

Totally agree with you. Spot on. APC doesnt perform, we vote them out period. Its no longer going to be business as usual. Its a new dawn in Nigeria. Politicians are sent to office to work for us, not the reverse.

          • tundemash

            yes o!

        • Tunsj

We did. All of us must pray for our new President to succeed. Again, I enjoyed your superb comments and I respect you.

    • Arabakpura

Congrats to you too! We should not lose focus until Nigeria achieves greatness! Eternal vigilance I urge!

    • citizenka

You cannot include yourself in that last but let include Tunde Mash who for about 4 years was there to keep vigil

    • anonymous

      Thank u my bros

  • James Breen

I supported Jonathan. However the people of Nigeria have spoken and democracy wins ! Congratulations to Mr Buhari and we hope that he will take Nigeria on to a successful and exciting path. Nigeria is bigger than any individual and any party. So congratulations from London !

    • Tunsj

You said it all. I respect you.

      • James Breen

Thank you. The will of the people is more important than personal glory and ambitions. I said on this forum a few hours ago that I supported Jonathan, but that if he lost he should accept defeat, which I am glad he has done so.

        • Tunsj

          I appreciate you. Respect.

    • Allayes

Thank you James; that is how it should be. While we congratulate Buhari, we must never lose sight of the fact that it is greater Nigeria that wins. For this reason, it is important that those who support Buhari or Jonathan never drop their guard. We must be vigilant and make sure that the incoming government understand very clearly that what Nigerians have just said is that the “government must listen to us and do what we want at all times”. Any other thing is not acceptable. NIGERIANS HAVE TAKEN THEIR COUNTRY BACK, than you God!

      • Arabakpura

While we celebrate the victory of Buhari which I so much cherish, the PDP people should please not go to sleep in the interest of Nigerian democracy. We will join them to ensure that the people at the helms work for the good health of Nigeria and her people. Congratulations Nigeria!

    • Progress

      God bless you James!

      • James Breen

Thanks. We must move forward as one nation.

    • Wähala

      Respect!

  • Ken

6 years of total unmitigated corruption, 6 horrible years of mismanagement, impunity and hardship upon the people of Nigeria,,, but at last a new dawn! Politicians should always remember there will be a day of reckoning…if you think the reason why you were voted in is to oppress the people, loot the country and destroy it’s infrastructure remember you may want to seek a re election. Thank you Jega! History will never forget you.

  • Arabakpura

Carry go Amaechi! The most sophisticated politician out of the Niger Delta. I salute your courage!

    • Progress

He is really the Lion of the Niger Delta. That guy will go far. The Yorubas will never abandon you so far as your politics is pro-people. I see future President in Amaechi and Rochas! Pls Rochas shd resign as governor to join the Federal government. He needs the period and the visibility to be prepared.

      • Wale

In really respect Gov. Rochas and Sen Ngige for taking the leap of faith and believing in this new movement.

  • Layo

Resilience: congrats Baba, Asiwaju Tinubu, I respect your brain. Captain Koli is my man of the year, God bless you wherever you are. Jega, very calm and matured man. Change has finally come. And to all the paid Erats, una try oh. Your chop don end. Chicken wings and Henessy for me.

  • Ervine Okuboh

What is important now is that Nigeria moves forward. The Nigerian electorate have given their verdict. Some people are happy, others are disappointed. That is the true fact of democracy. I also wanted Jonathan to win but Nigeria is more important than one tribe or one man or one political party. Nigeria must move forward and meet the challenges ahead. Our young people need to be engaged. Our infrastructure needs to be rebuilt, our domestic services (schools, hospitals) need to be drastically improved and our economy needs to take advantage of the growth it is experiencing and all of the potential of our natural resources(not just oil) need to be realised. Just as important is our image in the international arena. I wish our new president the best in his quest to take Nigeria forward.

    • Arabakpura

From now onwards, it is zero tolerance to all shades of corruption!

      • Progress

Correct! Otherwise, we will rise up against the President Elect as well!

    • anonymous

Look at the way u are talking it shows clearly your sense of sentimental bigotry. You know Nigeria and her citizenry needs those thing you mentioned and u mumu you still want mumu to continue.?

      • Ervine Okuboh

If I was bigoted I would not have said the things I said. As for callling me a mumu, you dont even know me. If you googled my name in your search box you would find that I am anything but bigoted, as I have spent my life working with people of all nations, races and creeds.
