President Muhammadu Buhari

The All Progressive Congress Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, has secured a crucial victory over his Peoples Democratic Party rival Goodluck Jonathan in Ondo State, according to results of the Saturday polls released early Monday.

Both presidential candidates won in nine local governments each out of the 18 in Ondo state, but Mr. Buhari got the upper hand having garnered 284,982 votes compared to President Jonathan’s 251, 368 votes.

Mr. Buhari was expected to lose in Ondo, a PDP-controlled state, as he did in neighbouring Ekiti where the former military ruler lost in all the local government areas there.

There were predictions of even a tougher outing for Mr. Buhari in Ondo state where the South West co-coordinator for the Goodluck Presidential campaign Gov. Olusegun Mimiko hitherto held sway.

The announcement of the Ondo polling results took place at the INEC Office in Alagbaka, Akure where Professor Olusola Oyewole, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta served as the Chief returning officer.

A breakdown of the results showed that APC won in Akoko North-East, Akoko North- West, Akoko South-East and Akoko South West.

The party also held sway in Akure North, Akure South, Owo, Idanre and Ifedore Local government areas respectively

On the other hand, the strongholds of Gov. Mimiko in Ondo, East, Ondo West, Ose were all delivered to the PDP.

Also Ile, Oluji/Oke Igbo, Okiti Pupa, Irele, Ese Odo, Odigbo and Ilaje were all captured by the PDP.

The total number of eligible voters in Ondo state stood at 1,501, 549 while the total number of valid votes cast was 561,056.

May Almighty God bless Jega for giving the people a voice through his insistence on using the card reader.

The positives far outweigh any negatives.

Now that the people have a voice, the elected politicians will know they either work and are reelected or they don’t and they are fired by the people.

    • Layo

The whole world is watching Jega, even though the presidency is rigging massively in SS and SE, God will shame all of them. Mimiko’s money failed him. Oju ti owo.

I am with you my brother. That was precise my arguement people should be able to change bad leadership. If Buhari gets drunk with power, I want to be in a position not to re-elect him..shikenna.

Yes.Buhari and the APC will taste this sort of humiliating incumbent defeat if they fail to deliver gains within a reasonable time. Democracy is the rule of the pleople

    • osas efoghe

Yes! That’s my take in all of these. When votes begin to count the power will return to the people. The novelty of the card reader is I welcome development .Politician s will find it hard to rig and swindle power against the people

This is good news and i hope the result is not fabricated. God bless Nigeria

  • Omoluabi from Kwara

Thank God. National Conference bait did not work in Ondo State. It is naive and foolhardy to suggest that it is only Jonathan that can implement the recommendations of the Conference. Everybody knows that it rests mainly with the National Assembly. Mini ko should have concentrated on the development of his state which he did excellently in his first term. God bless Nigeria.

Nice one. Ekiti peope, u are on your own o.

    • August January

With over 40% of votes for Buhari in Ekiti despite Fayose’s propagandist campaign of lies and blackmails, Buhari stands clearly elected and returned as president-elect in the next few hours. Fayose has started crying already, and his fellow thieves and riggers in the Ekitigate will soon answer for their deeds

    • AJ

No that is not true. Ekiti people are largely in the same boat with the majority of voters in Yorubaland. What is happening is simple. The strategies, personnel and structures that Ekiti’s maximum ruler and his friends used to execute ‘Ekitigate’ not long ago are still in place. It was just a matter of switching the system on and, voila! the desired results are produced and dispatched to INEC for announcement. Are u surprised Ekiti results were the first to emerge in the entire nation? Even the Yorubas of Kwara and Kogi are largely in the APC camp. APC even won in Ondo despite MImiko and his antics. Before the year is over, long before then in fact, Ekiti will be free. You will see the chameleon in Fayose the moment APC’s victory is confirmed. But go he will.

  • IAMAFRICAN

Yoruba is one of the most dividing factor in Nigeria right from the beginning.
But there is a price to pay for every action. Still one Africa but in diversity and we are picking our friends for good.

    • tundemash

Just as same Yorubas were dividing in 2011 ?
Go lick your wounds quietly and be man enough to accept your loss ! That is how the cookie crumbles for sectionally-minded, ethnic and religious bigots.

meanwhile you are invited to ………..

      • IAMAFRICAN

I don’t know the winner yet and I don’t care, I get nothing from GEJ. What I do care about is the price to pay for your actions. The oil is now solely for Niger Delta and we will see who will lick wound.
S&P has downgraded Nigeria to minus already.
        Just wait and see.

        • tundemash

Obviously you are hurting and I comiserate with you.
Did S&P has downgrade Nigeria to minus because of the results coming in yesterday or because of data gathered over the years of voodoo economy?

You claimed “The oil is now solely for Niger Delta” …. really ? Just because Dumbo lost the election? What a sore loser ! And yet you claim you don’t care on who wins and yet you are making empty threats at same time ? …… keep living in self-denial and hurting. Pele !

          • IAMAFRICAN

Lost the election? No one to me that. Where did you get that? I am saying for the betrayal of the SW there is a price…I don’t who wins or loses. Nigeria price must be paid. Nigeria will not be the same again.

          • tundemash

Cl0wn …. since when has voting for my choice become a betrayal?
Since when has hoodlums OPC whom your Dumbo paid billions to become the SW ???

Crying a river here doesn’t help you, it will just add to your headache. This is election and democracy …. not ogboni or secret cult !!!!

          • dareolu1

            thank you sir!

          • tundemash

@dare … isn’t it nauseating for a d@ft to tell anyone that NOT voting for his choice candidate is a betrayal ???????
With whom does he & his candidate have an accord that led to a betrayal? One wonders what goes on in such a mind !!!

        • CONSCIENCE

Don’t tell us you “don’t care”. You care Mr. You want Jonathan to win.

          • IAMAFRICAN

I swear I don’t care, for me GEJ is a weakling and we have not so many of such persons in Niger Delta. I want equity.
A situation where my friends in the North must pretend to be Buhari supporters to survive is not acceptable.
My friend, Nigeria has never been this divided, we are in t and we shall survive.

          • dareolu1

Katsinans gave Jonathan 89,000 votes in Buhari’s home state, we will see what the Bayelsan’s will give Buhari, very selfish people you all are..

Go and drink the oil na

          • IAMAFRICAN

Thanks. I will. And you will forever live in poverty. Your Naira will soon be 1000 to 1 dollar. Just wait. There is a price!!!

    • CONSCIENCE

So what do you want to say of the Igbos. They glaringly see ineptitude and non chalant attitude of Jonathan, yet they like his actions against some sections of the country. I see vengeance and vindictiveness in Igbo’s.

      • IAMAFRICAN

What are you talking about? Vindictive in what sense? And who in your entire race that ruled Nigeria has been competent?

        • CONSCIENCE

I have heard many of them said thing likes: “the killing in the North is the law of karma. Jonathan’s delay in defending many Northerners is good. Let the North continue to kill one another”. To me, that is disgusting. That is being vindictive.

          • IAMAFRICAN

Who asked them to kill each other? GEJ? What are they fighting for? How much of our oil money has been put n there to reduce their evil against each other? Give me a break..you are all ethnic and religious bigots and we now know better.

          • CONSCIENCE

What an evil thing for you to say. I knew it. When I read the trash you wrote earlier, I knew you had an agenda in your heart. You were only masking. Who is the bigot here. You or myself? Give me a break.
If Jonathan took people’s vote, he must also learn to protect the people that gave him those votes. Why did he run back to them weeks before the election, begging the same people he abandoned for years whilst BH was having field day in the North.
Apart from that, why were the Igbos rejoicing over the killings of Northerners.

          • IAMAFRICAN

I don’t know any Igbo man that rejoiced.
Nigeria is the only African country with suicide bombers, even kids. Why do you thnk that is? Why did the Boko Haram issue blew out of proportion? Ask yourself what the want? Do you really think they were out to get a caliphate? in Nigeria? In Africa?
If you can use your brain, you will see why Boko Haram is now losing.

          • CONSCIENCE

It’s there all over social media. These guys don’t hide it. I’m not neccesarily saying they are speaking for the entire Igbo community, but when they say these things, I expect SS or SE like you to stand up to them and tell them to shut up.

Apart from social media, check what is happening within the Igbo community. Even the leaders, they don’t have to come out and say it officially.

          • Stinger

@Conscience: You made some valid points; just don’t push any further. Jonathan is irredeemably incompetent, that is the fact. Don’t blame the Igbo for anything, they have the right to choose. Don’t claim they rejoiced over the killings cos I’m not aware. If a few paid agents wrote trash online, you don’t use that to call an entire ethnic group name. Moreover, how many times have northerners risen to condemn atrocities against ppl in SS or SE, that you expect reciprocation.
Let me be clear, in this country every one thinks first about his/her ethnic group before country. Naming others bigot is hypocrisy. We should think excellence and stop stereotypes.

As a SS person, I want Jonathan out of that place purely because he has failed!!! If anyone tells you that Nigerians are against the man because he is from the Niger Delta, ask them why they supported him in 2011. I know the role I played for that guy then, and I know my role in trying to get him out….But my motivation is purely merit or the lack of it. But once you bring north/south/Hausa/Igbo/Ibibio stereotypes, then I’ll quickly queue behind Jonathan. I am first an Ibibio/Akwa Ibomite before Nigerian!!!!

    • SAM .A

With this your tribal and religious bias , your people may not smell Aso Rock . Your vote will always come from SE,& SS only.

President Jonathan To Be Declared Winner Before Today.

With the election so far released from the collation centers, president Jonathan will be declared the Presidential election winner by INEC and his opponent as usual have been shot out, by technical ground.

Buhari currently have not secured 25% of the votes in 13 states in Nigerian and an additional states will end his dream of becoming Nigerian President.

In a related development, the Presidential Spokesman, Reuben Abati has thanked Nigerians for their efforts in re-electing President Jonathan.
Abati said, “our numerous supporters (both home and abroad) are reaching out to us and requesting that we should say something. We can assure you that we are on Top of everything.

INEC has already addressed the issue of viral ‘opposition’ sponsored fake results that they should be ignored. So far, the only announced concluded official result from anywhere is from EKITI state. A resounding victory for President Jonathan! Don’t be fooled or panic. We say thank you!
    *************************************
President Goodluck Jonathan has extended has his earlier lead and he is projected to be declared the election winner if Muhmmadu Buhari fails to secure 25% in any of the 6 states that President Jonathan is currently leading.
Buhari failed to secure 25% in 13 states of S/East and S/South and 2 other states and one additional state will shot him out technically. He will not be possible to secure 25% in 24 states including Abuja, even if he received the Majority votes, he will lose the election.
