BREAKING: Police summon El-Rufai, other APC bigwigs, hours to elections

The Kaduna state Police Command on Friday summoned the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Nasir El-Rufai, and two other bigwigs of the party to report for questioning in their offices.

Summoned to appear along with Mr. El-Rufai are Suleiman Hunkuyi and Lawal Yakawada.
Mr. Hunkuyi is the APC senatorial candidate for Kaduna North and chairman of the APC Kaduna state campaign council while Mr. Yakawada, who was secretary to the state government  in the Patrick Yakowa government, is a senior member of the APC campaign council.

All three were invited by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the CID.
Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman for the APC campaign council said, the police have followed up the written invitation with telephone calls.

The intent behind requesting the three top leaders of the opposition to report on the eve of the election is to hold them down until the election ends, Mr. Aruwan said.
It is not clear why the Police want to question the three men but party insiders suggested the invitation has to do with a petition about destruction of billboards in Zaria.

The APC claims it has been a victim of widespread vandalisation of its assets, saying the action of the police “is part of a campaign to slap criminal charges on the opposition for actions for which it has already been victimized”.
In response to the invitation, Yusuf Dankofa, an associate professor of law and counsel to the APC, has written to the police, notifying them that there is an ongoing court action at the Federal High Court in Kaduna regarding the events in Zaria.

In a letter to the commissioner of police, Mr. Dankofa said the pendency of the case prevents the police from taking any action in connection with the matter, as “that would not only amount to an act of sub judice, but would also translate to a total disregard for justice and a further desecration of the hallowed majesty of our courts.”

“In view of this fact that the above mentioned people’s application is before the court, the matter has been further adjourned to the 29th of April 2015 for further arguments and with this the court has been seized of this matter,” Mr. Dankofa said.
The police is yet to respond to Mr. Dankofa’s letter.

Meanwhile, the APC says it has been alerted to a plot to arrest some of its chieftains in Southern Kaduna.

They include party chairman and gubernatorial running-mate, Barnabas Yusuf Bala (Bantex), Mikaiah Tokwak, Ishaya Iko, a retired vice-admiral and Ben Kure, Director General of Kaduna APC Campaign Council.

Definitely, all these wicked acts will finish soon, and the whole securiy set-up will be refined, and bad eggs will be culled into dust bins.

  • menas

Is this not desperation to cling on power? African leaders don’t learn by example…the Laurent Gbagbo experience!

  • Awarawa

He that is of clear conscience need not fear at all. I thought El Rufai has always been vocal. He shouldn’t be afraid of police as he has mocked the army several times.

    • TKBaba

Like in PDP’s EKITIGATE election strategy?

  • Otile

There will be mass suicide in APC party Sunday morning. I hope they don’t blame it on their opponents.

    • Ikedinachi

I feel it should be the same PDPigs that were so afraid of defeat as to force a postponement of their February defeat that are primed for mass suicide. Check your facts well, PDP is losing this election that they have turned to do or die heavily. I know the extreme desperation the party has deployed will make them so unprepared to live after their defeat tomorrow. Anyway the PDPigs have great reason to commit mass suicide; most of them are prime targets for jail.

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

      Just so you know, Blackie.

It is the ARMED WING OF THE PDP aka NPF that is “churning” out “police invitations”.

The APC has a right to shun such invitations if it is likely to be in contempt of court procedures or likely to be ultra vires.

      • BlackieUmukoro

It was a general open invitation thing, it was not specific

Invitation or no invitation , these 3APC stawalts must not be detained a night to election, otherwise the police will be acting the script of PDP ie PDP police,
Both APC & PDP party executives must be given equal treatment for fair & free election that their candidates have signed .
Nigeria is greater than APC ,PDP , partisanship of police is uncalled for at this time.

    • Okey

Any honest person who reads what el Rufai posted on his Facebook will have no conclusion to make than that the midget is inviting and calling for anarchy and bloodshed as a lather for climbing to power. He must be stopped. The safety of our lives and property is more important than el Rufai’s quest to occupy the Governor’s office.

      • gymer

Why are you still following that bigot on Facebook? I stopped following the id10t when he was always accusing late Gen Azazi as the brain behind boko haram.

        • modu abagana

          Even me.

    • modu abagana

They have to be detain for us to reduce the violence

  • burning spear

(We have gone past the era of brute force or violence to resolving issues. APC is a party that is known for violence and which would employ every means to destabilize the country. Thay have been doing this and stepped this up soon after the merger with the blessing of the chief protagonist of violence, their presidential flag-bearer – General Muhammadu Buhari. It is not in dispute that a Buhari presidency will take Nigeria 50 yrs backwards because he knows little or nothing to reposition Nigeria on the path of socio-politico and economic development.)

    • DanielOsazuwa

Guess you forgot to take your medication today.

Your e-ratting job stops tonight because your Jona will be so humiliated that he will give up before INEC announcement of results.

GEJ will soon go down like Abacha. Nigeria was one when Buhari was Head of State. Can you say that of GEJ, dirty Ijjaw pig!!

      • modu abagana

Your fada is a donkey then

    • Red Lion

Soon we shall see the end of criminals like you, the thief ruling us with such iron fist is about to be sent to Otueke. Its like we have just started a match toward attaining independence again. Better look for another job cos all those criminals paying u will take off with their millions of dollars shared by GEJ.

    • dareolu1

you are here again, serial liar!

    • modu abagana

      Ask these dullards for me

  • Chris1408

    PDP bad belle politics.

  • Chimaobi

March 28 is the day for national sanitation. The broom is the weapon for the day and tomorrow, it will ve called to full use in sweeping out the PDPigs. Jonathan was so afraid of the humiliating defeat that awaited him on Febuhari 14 that he forced INEC to postpone the election. Guess the date he chose? March 28, the sanitation day and the day of the broom. Running from a motorcycle and ending up being crushed by a lorry! Hahahaha!!!! Those that are hunted by the spirit are bound to end up miserably like the PDP.

    • DanielOsazuwa

My wife bought me a well groomed broom today for tomorrow assignment. My bazooka PVC cannot wait to be utilised to flush out Jona back to Otuoke.

      • modu abagana

Ur fada may be the one that will end up in his village

  • Maria

Is this a military era or what?

    • modu abagana

See ur mouth like military. What is wrong with summoning a trouble maker.

      • Maria

Why have you not summoned Faka Jonathan, animal?

  • Okey

Any honest person who reads what el Rufai posted on his Facebook will have no conclusion to make than that the midget is inviting and calling for anarchy and bloodshed as a lather for climbing to power. • hummm

You cant be that dumb. Pay attention to the issue at hand becuz that is the point of discussion.

    • Man_Enough

was the post more vile than what asari dokubo spewed only 2 days to the election?

      • Okey

To my knowledge, Asari Dokubo has not been HONOURABLE Minister of FCT and he is not seeking to to be HIS EXCELLENCY, the Governor of Kaduna or any other State.

  • olododo !

This is coming at a wrong time. The police can wait till after election

  • modu abagana

I don’t know why this el ‘rufiaah’ is still left untouched causing problems everyday. Jonathan your over tolerance may cause you this election. Wake up and deal with this evil men ruthlessly please

  • PeterPaul1

Another Ekiti strategy at work; arrest the main leaders of the opposition party before election. PDP has destroyed this country.
