Obasanjo warns against military take-over

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has warned against a military government in Nigeria, saying such move will undermine the integrity of the country in the comity of nations.

Mr. Obasanjo gave the warning when the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aisha Buhari, led South West Women of the party to his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The former leader said he was happy Nigeria has gone beyond the rumour of Interim National Government.

‪”I do hope we will get things more right. A lot of rumours are flying around, I think we have gone away from the rumour of Interim Government because that is not in our constitution,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “I hope we will soon go away from the rumour of handing over to the military because the military is not meant to run affairs of a nation in terms of running government.”

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, there have been speculations about a possible military intervention, and the formation of an Interim National Government in Nigeria.

Denials by President Goodluck Jonathan that his government is not planning to surrender power to an interim body, should the opposition win, have not totally doused those fears.

Prominent lawyer, Femi Falana, said on Sunday that there were still no indications the elections will go forward. He warned against a coup d’etat.

Mr. Obasanjo said the international community especially the African Union will not accommodate or recognise any government that emerges outside Nigeria’s constitution.

“The intentional community will not condone it, particularly African Union. We have said and it is part and parcel of the constituting act of the African Union. Any government that is not brought about on the basis of the constitution will not be accepted, will not be tolerated and will not be a member of the AU until that government is dismantled,” he said.

‪Mr. Obasanjo said Nigeria has all it takes to dictate the pace for other countries in Africa, adding that Nigerians should blame themselves for where it is today.

‪”We are the largest country in Africa, we should be a model, setting examples, we shouldn’t be drawing Africa backward. I hope we will not. I hope at the end of this exercise, we would be where we should be, leading Africa and showing examples for the rest of Africa and indeed the rest of the world.

‪”We have the goodwill of many people. I watched, last night, President Obama talking about our constitution, I watched our brother from Ghana, the current Chairman of ECOWAS talk about our constitution, they are all interested, they all wish us well, should we wish ourselves anything less?”

‪ Mr. Obasanjo said political parties should focus more on what unites the country and avoid hate campaigns. ‪He said anyone who is interested in the future of Nigeria should focus on issues of insecurity, economy, employment.

‪‪”How are we going to get them, what are we going to do, not trivial issues of certificate, no certificate, not trivial issues of when somebody are talking about someone is a Nigerian and not a Nigerian.

Mrs. Buhari, who had earlier embarked on a rally in company of all wives of APC Governors in the country at Moshood Abiola Stadium in the town, thanked Mr. Obasanjo for being what she described as a true nationalist, saying that he acted beyond party level while solving issues affecting the country.

‪”Baba exercises his prowess as a father, as a former head of state of Nigeria twice. Very few Nigerians have the opportunity to rule the country twice, we are here today to show our appreciation the way you handle things as a statesman and also a nationalist.

‪”We thank you so much for acting beyond party in getting things right, thank you for that, may you live long to continue solving out problems,” she said.

Hajiya Buhari: Edo APC women condemns PDP

      March 24, 2015

      Written by Our reporter

The women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has decried attempts by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to misrepresent the pronouncements of Hajiya A’isha Buhari at the recent APC South-South women’s rally in the state.

In a statement signed by the State’s women leader, Dr (Mrs.) Aisosa Amadasun in Benin, the APC said the mischief and ill-will evident in recent publications misrepresent the utterances of Hajiya A’isha Buhari, which depict the usual desperation of the PDP to misinform Nigerians for cheap political gains.

The statement noted that “Hajiya Buhari at the rally addressed important national issues especially those affecting women without prejudice against any part of the country.

The statement noted that what Hajiya Buhari said in each zone of the country is different.

The statement also quoted Mrs. Buhari as saying, “For me, in this zone, girl child trafficking should be considered one of our problems, though I know there is unemployment. The unemployment is the major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl-child trafficking. General Muhammadu Buhari is a leader, he was a leader, he led Nigeria some decades ago, and he is coming back now to sanitize the system.

“When my husband is elected, all these are going to be history. The insecurity, the girl-child trafficking, sufferings of widows in the South-East will come to an end.

“There must be a design – a cultural design that can accommodate the widow, and then a design that can make the girl-child comfortable wherever she is in the country. She doesn’t need to leave her country to go and prostitute elsewhere. It is not her portion. Her portion is to have a moral, a high standard moral society for her to live, get married, have children, train them and also mould them to become the future of our leaders.”

The Edo State APC Women Wing further noted, “It is evident from her statement that Hajiya Buhari only spoke as a mother and patriot who is committed to the well-being of the Nigerian girl-child, widows and the female gender in general.”

TIME TO DEFEND OUR DEMOCRACY WITH ARMED STRUGGLE

Nigerians must now rally to fight a coup plot insistently predicted by General Obasanjo.
If need be, Nigerian democrats must arm themselves to fight and kill all the coupists.
This predicted coup has no good or sensible purpose and should be defeated bloodily.
Even if this will mean the end of Nigeria, any coupist military officer goaded, must be killed.

The first purpose of this predicted coup is to establish General Obasanjo as the owner of Nigeria.
Its second purpose is to decimate Christianity by enthroning a Muslim-led government in Nigeria.
Both reasons assault human dignity and should be bloodily resisted by violent guerilla warfare.
Nigerians will never be free unless they take the armed struggle to Obasanjo and vanquish him.

Fellow Nigerians, This is my appeal as we embark on this solemn exercise of electing the next president of this great country. Let is love one another. Politics should not be a do or die affair. Let us show tolerance to one another. The person who loose should concede defeat and congratulate the winner. The winner should not overjoy and throw caution into the air. If you loose today, your party can win tommorrow. Nothing last forever. In this election, let Nigeria be the winner. No one should haul a stone. No one should take up any weapon to harm a fellow Nigerian. Let us rise up and build our nation and truly make this nation the envy of the world as has been prephesize so may times. Secondly, fear of coup made him to follow US advice using MPRI to weaken the military through underfunding and occupying them with peacekeeping duties to the detriment of training for war. He succeeded in weakening the military to such a sorry state that civilian vehicles like Toyota Hilux became our standard troops carrying vehicle. No wonder the struggle against Boko Haram. Why the Yoruba will vote en masse for President Jonathan….

Lagosians can now stop complaining. They have themselves to blame in Lagos state.
It’s all their fault for being so local and nearly daft. They elected Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu
who did not go to a provable school as their governor for 8 years to RUIN their lives, and,
they did so with their eyes open, right? What did you expect should happen to Lagos?

They knew that this same Bola Ahmed Tinubu has all along been on U.S court records as a
plea-bargained drugs-running criminal. Next to that, you should ask: what did Lagosians
do to mitigate their losses. Nothing sensible!

Like drunken mariners they trooped out 8 years later, this time against the facts to elect
Alhaji Raji Fashola (on the say-so of the same Bola Tinubu) who on his own part
struggled through a 3rd rate Birch Freeman Secondary school in Lagos, not so?
Surely, Lagosians can’t be classed as bright or intelligent for so doing, but will
rather likely be classified as dull or daft.

    • By Popular Demand

…..(2) Why the Yoruba will vote en masse for President Jonathan

What did you expect should happen with Lagosians’ serial blunders? Of course, it’s this
      messiness you see in Lagos where Raji Fashola banned FREEDOM OF INFORMATION;
but did not get slapped in protest for it – not even on the wrist – therefore confirming Lagos
state today as a colony of slaves.

It is a fact that 99% of Lagosians did NOT know anything about Raji Fashola or ever saw
or heard him before or read anything he ever wrote showing his values or thought-process,
before trooping out to vote for him. Lagosians can now see the huge cost of their stupidity
and will surely like to avoid a repeat on 28th March.

Lagosians now groan that between Bola Tinubu and Raji Fashola, ALL of the $40 billion
Lagos state revenue got since 1999 have either been recklessly blown or majorly stolen.
On top of this baleful legacy of the duo in Lagos state is the matter of un-precedented debt
of $3.7 billion now owed by the Lagos state government.

To tell the truth, Lagosians deserve swindling for being retards for it was so easy for
the duo of Tinubu and Fashola to dupe the 17 million Lagosians with only a broom,
and without firing any shot, to rob them all in broad daylight. What a people!

“[On this clamour for a Christian as Lagos state governor],
we should not introduce something that will start affecting the
consciousness of the people. We shouldn’t put in the people’s
consciousness what they were not thinking about
before. Even if you look at it closely you will find that
the dominant people in Lagos state are Muslims

It will take 20 years more of violent killings in Lagos state before Lagosians can get out
of the deadly consequences of a society of thieves that Bola Tinubu and Raji Fasola have
turned Lagos into by their official thefts. For the first time in history, Lagos has become
the most armed, most violent and bloodiest state in Nigeria, amongst the 32 states outside
            the Boko Haram war zone.

Islamism is the major problem with Lagos state. All else is secondary.
The Yoruba Muslims repudiate the constitution holding Nigeria together.
The Muslims then blithely break up national unity in consequence of that.

They aim to split up the Nigerian Army into distinctly armed religious camps.
Worse than those, the Yoruba Muslims now declare themselves SUPERIOR.

By now they are importing more arms to wage war against the national army.
Along the way, they rape, they loot and kill and burn Christian churches on sight.
For complete goriness they behead the Christians plus the Nigerian soldiers
            .

Lagos state government’s LAGBUS scheme is managed by a registered
private company known as LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd – whose Board
of Directors are in the Lagos State Government and connected to the government.
For instance, Mr. Disun Holloway, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism is a board
member of LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd.

Though the board members and other key beneficiaries are likely to be fleecing
the scheme through profit sharing and other means, the Lagbus scheme is no longer
profitable. The Managing Director of LAGBUS, Mr. Tunde Disu at a radio program
in 2012 claimed that the buses being managed by the company were 803.

Whereas, the total number of buses on the roads on a daily basis is about 190,
while the buses operating 2 years ago were 300 – which means the buses operating
are reducing due to mis-management. This is because most of the buses have
broken down and are abandoned at depots due to expensive and unsustainable
contract maintenance policy, although most of the buses are less than 3-years-old,
they have been allowed to rot away. Hence, about 600 buses have deteriorated and
          are now wasting.”

      @Questioner,

For me, when last week when General Obasanjo said Boko Haram has “legitimate grievances“,
i quickly wrote him off as a crass old fellow who’s lost his marbles. I now understand why the American
government under President Barak Obama has banned any contact with Obasanjo since the year 2007.
Shunned in Europe and America as of no use, Obasanjo has been gasping for relevance in remote areas,
like inconsequential Dubai where the Arabs tolerate his witless humour, as they do of ugly black Africans.

  • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Baboon Obasanjo is a nuisance. High time he was arrested and made to face treasonable felony and treason charges.

    • tundemash

Yeah right ….. OBJ is a nuisance just as your father was and the senile Ooni is…….. Indeed OBJ should be made to face treasonable charges for imposing two sick men on Nigeria; one had a defective kidney and the other a defective brain !

      • emmanuel

Tundemess, a brainless man activates moribund Car Assembly plants, Rail Lines, attracts highest Foreign Direct Investments, stop Fuel scarcity (except for the ones stage managed by Mobil and OandO where Tinubu has interest to discredit the FG).
I wish your saintly OBJ did half of Jonathan’s feat, Nigeria would have been better for it.

Ikeja Police College was managed down by Obj and co until the World saw the mess and same brainlessman revamped it.

What I discovered about Nigeria is that it may take over a decade to revamp destroyed and comatosed infrastructures (including military hardwares in the constituency Obj calls his own – mumu ex General) how much more setting up newer ones.

Tundemss half of your post here over time portray you as a lazy thinker. I therefore conclude that you cannot manage a Local Government Area in Nigeria, how much more the country – do not forget that your mates are Presidents across the World.

        • tundemash

          Creek Monkey,
The more amnesty miscreants like you open your mouth, the more you expose the hopelessness of this govt.

First of all, only a d@ft person would seperate Jona’s govt and OBJ’s govt; they are both part and parcel of PDP’s 16 years of misgovernance. Even in advanced democracies, 16 years is too long to change a govt how much more a country in intensive care!

You claim your clueless ” activates moribund Car Assembly plants, Rail Lines, attracts highest Foreign Direct Investments, stop Fuel scarcity (except for the ones stage managed by Mobil and OandO where Tinubu has interest to discredit the FG).”

Only a f00lish man would not query what a stuyp1d govt is doing while some compainies are sabotaging the economy of Nigeria so what is Dumbo doing while Mobil, OandO and Tinubu are sabotaging the economy ? Is Dumbo scared of Tuinubu ?
Could you please copy and paste your train ticket here please except if those trains exist at your amnesty camp ?
I guess those moribund Car plants being re-activate will run on air ? A country that cannot produce “common” electricity is re-activating car plants ….. if it is true, another d@ft idea by the Otuoke cl0wn !
As per your highest FDI, clearly that must have been in your dreams as no sane businessman would invest in a society lacking in electricy and security …. give us another tales by moonlight !

          I hope you would be able to tell me the follwoing;
          1. What destroyed the capability of our Navy/Police/Army to protect pipelenes such that terrorrists and ethnic militias are now giving multi-billion contract to provide same services?
          2. How much was rental price of a 2-bed flat in 1999 compared with now ?
          3. How much was an hour local flight in 1999 compared with now ?
          4. How much was a bag of Rice/garri/Tomatoes in 1999 compared with now ?
Those are the issues that concern every sane Nigerian on the street but we know amnesty miscreants like you get monthly stipend
          5. When is Dumbo returning the money stolen from the immigration applicants for a non-existing job?
          6. When is who is responsible for the murder of the immigration applicants going to be prosecuted ?
          7. Why was Boko haram left to maim and kill for 6 years only to be confronted in the last few weks to election ?

        • Julius

No Nigerian child was abducted and kept for almost a yr when OBJ was there. That alone, my friend, beats anything this dumb azz Jona can ever claim in his LIFE

    • Julius

You must be biafran..olosi. lmaooooooooooo. May he live long so your blood pressure continue going up. Never abuse an elder…your papa should have taught you that.

      • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

I won’t hesitate to abuse any useless old man (Agba ‘ya) like Obasanjo and Buhari. Anytime.

  • Uzoma

ICC said it can’t wait to indict those who incite violence during the ongoing campaign and after. What is it waiting for?

  • taewo

Yes, I agree with OBJ that Nigerians should be blamed for the situation in which they find themselves. A friend of mine used to say that every Nigerian has a price. Give them money and/r power and they will do anything for you. They will help you to steal and even kill your opponents.

I must also say that OBJ brought us to where we are today because he always wanted us to draw a comparison between him and his successors with a view to concluding that he was a better leader. That’s not statesmanship. What sort of statesman was he when he continue to promote Jonathan knowing that he (Jonathan) was a total fraud?

  • Dr.Dan

OBJ imposed Yar adua and GEJ on Nigerians so that he can continue to reign by proxy. Today he describes Yaradua as an incompetent ingrate and GEJ as clueless. He should retire in peace a stop this saintly posturing Nigerians cannot forget so soon that this failed state we are today is OBJ’s legacy.

  • favourtalk

Let none of them try it, we can’t continue with the backwardness of the country, we need real transformation not the joke of PDP around us to take over power at all cost. We need transformation, we need change

  • onenigerian2014

You’re very pretty… Pretty ugly. OBJ. Why don’t you go and drink a big glass of shut the f*** up?

    • Julius

You must not know who your father is. What did he say that ticks you off in this piece ?. Peolple of your ilks will always has a blood pressure problem when you see OBJ face even when he says nothing. May your life continued in that fashion. Remember, nobody in your family has an iota life that he has had and still living Biko shut da fck up !!.

      • onenigerian2014

I’ll try being nicer, if you try being smarter. You better shut up before I knock you into next year so I don’t have to deal with you this year. APC goat!!

        • Julius
