PDP commends Jonathan over confab report

Olisa Metuh

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Executive Council for Wednesday’s approval of the final report of the 2014 National Conference.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Thursday said “the development shows that the President and the PDP government are sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of the Nigerian people as encapsulated in the report”.

“This move which has been positively received by Nigerians is in keeping with President Jonathan’s avowed commitment to strengthen the unity and stability of the nation, plug waste in the system and ensure equity in the polity in line with the PDP manifesto and visions of our founding fathers.

“We strongly believe that the implementation of this report that covers the views of all segments of the populace is also expected to help in addressing some socio-political challenges in the land, guarantee harmonious living among the people and boost economic growth across the country”, the party said.

It also noted that the approval, coming shortly after the reduction in electricity tariff and cut in the price of petrol clearly underscores President Jonathan’s commitment to the wellbeing of the people and development of the nation.

The PDP therefore charged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for the President and demonstrate this by turning out en mass and massively vote for him and other PDP candidates in the March 28 and April 11 elections.

They call him clueless, but he understands this game. With this confab report implementation, Jonathan will win south west clearly. Confab report implementation is the only thing so dear to south west.

    • tundemash

Clown … read properly … nothing is being implemented ….. No law or act of parliament established the Confab. If you know any such law or act of parliament that established the Confab, please state it here. Jonathan gathered a few people to buy time when the heat was on.

The implication is that the report are mere suggestions at the mercy of the National Assembly and Jonathan said this much yesterday.

      Can you tell us the salient issues addressed in that report. As far as i can remember, the core issues Nigerians want deliberated upon were either listed as no-go area by Jonathan or were defeated at the Confab;

Regional autonomy, Restructuring, parliamentary system or Westminster model, Fiscal federalism or Resource control, Unicameral legislature, a Ceremonial president and a Prime minister with full executive powers, State police and deletion of the Land Use Act from the Constitution.

So tell me exactly what is tickling your feeble mind !

A people lacking in wisdom will perish !

    • drdenx

Mr Man, everything The SW hoped to achieve was defeated at the confab. If you know the law at all, the said report has to be passed into law and the senate had never supported the confab. open your eyes…..this is just last ditch politics.

  • Segun

If GEJ implements this confab report, the whole of south west will vote him.

    • tundemash

Please tell us the salient issues resolved is in that Confab report that makes you think the whole of south west will vote him? And you think it takes 1 wek to implement a report that the National Assembly has not deliberated upon ?

Rogue govt. are fortunate the people they govern lack wisdom !

  • taiwo

We shall shame some people who believe that they own the south west in this election,GEJ 2015 is a done deal

  • oluwaseyi mayowa

The only national party existing in Nigeria at the moment is the PDP,the APC has unfortunately turned out to be a guerrilla party that is founded on propaganda and falsehood

    • Omababa

Jonothin Will do in the next 7 days all that he failed to do in 6 years. What we earnestly need is visionary, purposeful and focused leadership and the rest will take care of itself.

  • malik shaibu

Yes more grease to Me President,SAI PDP,SAI JONATHAN SAI SAMBO

  • tunji braimoh

Any person that opposes the confab report should indicate now so Nigerians can vote him out.The awareness is now high amongst the populace no politician can take us for granted anymore, that era is gone all thanks to Jonathan that sanitized the electoral process and empowered the masses

    • tundemash

Can you tell us exactly what you undestand in the confab report aside from its name.

      Of what use is a Confab report that jettisoned the core issues people have been agitating for like;

Regional autonomy, Restructuring, parliamentary system or Westminster model, Fiscal federalism or Resource control, Unicameral legislature, a Ceremonial president and a Prime minister with full executive powers, State police and deletion of the Land Use Act from the Constitution.

Rogue govt. are fortunate the people they govern lack wisdom !

      • tunji braimoh

You can talk trash all you want it will never remove from the fact that president Jona is the ist president in this country that had the political will to call a confab to discuss Nigeria and the way forward .Some of the recommendations of that confab are highly needed to re stucture this nation and place it on a balanced pedestal for future growth and development based on each region having the ability to develop at its own pace and that is what the yoruba wants,Any Nigerian knowing fully well where we are coming from and yet discountenancing the efforts of the ist real leader we have had in this nation is heartless and deserves to be cursed

        • tundemash

Give us two of such recommendations cl0wn .
It does not require half a page to mention just two of such recommendations. Also tell us what law or act of parliament established the Confab !

        • tundemash

olodo …… every nigerian president except yaradua did their own confab. go learn history from home and stop displaying amazing ignorance online.
meanwhile still awaiting you to ell us two salient issues resolved in that confab report.
8 more days and u can have your cl0wn back at otuoke to organise a confab for u there

          • tunji braimoh

now you have confirmed your stupidity to the last.e rodent of an irresponsible opposition party

          • tundemash

Olodo …… were you still on the creek high seas when IBB, Abacha & OBJ also orhanised their deceptive confabs ?
            What makes this different ?

  • charles peters

With this latest policy from Jonathan, he will win south west, south south, south east and north central with only one stone.

  • danjuma

Up Jonah. We are with u

  • Eberechi Ezeh

GEJ you’ve done well, see you come march 28th. #GEJ4naija

  • onyekaokorie

Well the confab report by His Grace will be implemented. GEJ is a sincere and humble president. He has reduced fuel price, reduced electricity bill, and now confab report.

Remember that no president has implemented confab report before. Jonah is always the first.

  • Eberechi Ezeh

    GEJ for march 28. #GEJ4naija

  • inuwa kate

If this confab report is strictly implemented, then Nigeria will develop at high speed as many of the govt bottleneck, bureaucracy and ethnic barriers would have been eliminated.

    Well done Mr President

  • Anene Mercy

Wow so south east will get more states, that means it is GEJ all the way.

  • Maitama Tambari

Olisa Metuh, Nigerians are all the more wiser with PDP and Presidency kangaroo Maladministration of the country. 10 days to election, President Jonathan is releasing the National Conference report for what purposes, we do not know any but ELECTION. President Jonathan’s voodoo economist cut by 50% electricity tariff 10 days to ELECTION, to deceive whom, we do not know any but ELECTION. Upon all these deception, President Jonathan has forgotten he has made Nigerians all the more poorer by the devaluation of the Naira by 40% from November to February. If a Nigerian had N100 in his savings in October, in today’s terms it is N60. How can electricity tariff be cut by 50% if Naira has equally be depreciated by 50%, Mama put, is it correct? WE BELIEVE CHANGE! YES WE CAN IN NIGERIA. ALI MUST GO. YES JONATHAN MUST GO.

    • Victor Gee

Tambari, PDP will win and u and Buhari will cry again

    • Tope Alabi R

keep on dreaming mumu, enemies of Nigerian progress

  • Victor Gee

This is the best president ever. Those things former presidents refused to, he is now doing them. Nigeria’s future looks bright under u.

  • Victor Gee

It is just few days to the D day. Jonathan will defeat Buhari with wide margin.

  • Tope Alabi R

For the first time in the history of our nation we now have a president that listens and acts according to needs of the nation, not heartless leaders like Tinubu and the 40 thieves that are more interested in looting, pillaging and plundering

  • Hon Chuks O

The policies of this government shows that it is a government that feels and hackens to the needs of the masses,Nigerians are indeed lucky and we must do all within our powers to ensure that we do not lose this great man to the shenanigans of the propagandists

  • Hon Chuks O

Nigerians we are almost at the finishing line,it is time to defeat all the evil men that has been holding down this nation for years.Thankfully they all are now gathered together in one party and chants change back to status quo so they can return us to slavery while they continue to enjoy their oil blocks.Unfortunately for them they have failed and all their oil blocks will be revoked when it expires in september.NIGERIA MUST MOVE FORWARD WITH JONATHAN

  • BELLO DAN GARKUWA

THIS COMMENDATION WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF IT WAS FOR REDUCING CORRUPTION TO THE BAREST MINIMUM BY MR PRESIDENT. INSTEAD, THE CORRUPTION MOMENTUM INCREASED BY ASTRONOMICAL SPEED. FOR THIS WE CONDEMN THIS GOVT. IN ITS ENTIRETY.

  • favourtalk

Nothing is working in this country ,we wants change, we need light, Water, employment and good policies not propaganda
