Buhari can do two terms if elected – APC

President Muhammadu Buhari

The All Progressives Congress has debunked the myth being peddled by the Peoples Democratic Party that Muhammadu Buhari, its presidential candidate will spend only one term in office if elected President, saying it is the creation of the PDP which is seeking to play a section of the country against another.

”The APC will not abridge the right of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to spend the constitutionally-guaranteed two terms as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if elected in the March 28th poll,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

”No conditionality whatsoever was attached to Gen. Buhari’s candidacy. He won the party primaries fair and square in a globally-acclaimed transparent manner, and he was neither a compromise nor a consensus candidate, hence there is no need for him to make a deal with anyone.

”We are therefore telling Nigerians to disregard the tales by the moonlight which some PDP elements are yarning, in their desperation to muddle the waters ahead of the forthcoming elections and create disaffection between a section of the country and another,” it said.

APC said it had ignored the myth all long because it was being peddled by fringe elements in the PDP, but decided to put the record straight once and for all after those who were thought to be saner elements in the ruling party started parroting the same incredulous lies.

”This myth that Buhari will spend one term, after which power will return to the South-west, is along the same line as the outlandish claim that our Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has sworn to an oath to resign in favour of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu once elected.

”The question to ask is: When will the PDP stop this campaign of calumny and character assassination against our candidates and leaders? When will they stop this one-day, one-lie nonsense?

”The truth is that Gen. Buhari’s candidacy has brought out the worst in the PDP leadership and supporters, including Mr. President and his wife. Unfortunately for them, the more they campaign against our candidate, the more popular he becomes. Perhaps the PDP would have stood a better chance of winning the forthcoming polls if its State Governors, in particular, have devoted as much time and energy to running their states as they have devoted to maligning Gen. Buhari,” the party said.

God bless Buhari, God bless Nigeria. PDP is the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria.
They control two third of the gov in Nigeria, yet their states are always low on all indices.
Just one person is making Jonah run from Pastor to Iman, from south to east.
I have never seen an incumbent this scared of election.

Liar Mohammed alias (comical Ali the Saddam Hussein’s propagandist) the will may be there, but can he? Considering his early stage of dementia. And all the health questions. We all must pray for him. The North should wait for 2019 to avoid regrets.

    • Otile

My friend the more we pray for certain Northern leaders the more we lose out. Did we not not pray for Abacha to become a good leader? The more we prayed for him the more the devil hardened his heart until Allah called him home.

Did we not pray for Yar”Adua to recover? the more we fasted and prayed the more his wife and the criminal cabal stole our money.

Are we not praying for Imam Buhari? The more we pray for him the more he suffers ill health.

Can APC, for once , see virtue in being honest ? Why can’t APC see LIES as a vice ?

Please, fellow Nigerians, see below APC’s assurance on this matter by Rotimi Fashakin as published by an APC-friendly news medium and which publication has, up till this hour, not been denied or refuted.

Punch newspaper, October 20, 2014 by Allwell Okpi

A chief of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Fashakin, said a former Head of State and presidential aspirant, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has pledged to serve only one term of four years if he emerged as President in 2015.

Fashakin, who was the national publicity secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, told our correspondent on Sunday that Buhari would do for Nigeria what the late Nelson Mandela did for South Africa.

He said the motive behind Buhari’s fourth shot at the presidency was his desire to rescue Nigeria from corruption, stabilise it and then hand over to a younger person, who hasthe capacity to lead the country.

He said, “Gen. Muhammadu Buhari would doa term of four years then hand the power over to somebody younger. You
can take that to the bank. He is going to be the stabilising factor in Nigeria. Nigeria needs a strong leader like Buhari, who is in the mould of Mandela, who stabilised South Africa.

“That is what Buhari is going to do and four years are enough for him to do that. After stabilising the nation, he will hand over to somebody younger, whom he would have groomed. This is why we are asking Nigerians to give Buhari a chance. He has the
capacity, temperament and courage to rescue and stabilise this country. Just four years of Buhari, Nigeria will not remain the same.”

Fashakin added it would be a disservice to the entire nation if Buhari is denied the chance of governing the country in 2015.

He also said there was no doubt that Buhari would defeat President Goodluck Jonathan during the February 14, 2015 presidential election, adding that most of those who voted for Jonathan in 2011 would vote for Buhari in 2015.

Fashakin noted that there was still the possibility of Buhari’s emergence as APC’s consensus presidential candidate.

He said, “In article 20 of the APC constitution, consensus is the most preferred way of choosing our leaders because in consensus all interests are considered. That is democracy. It’s a welcome development that we are working towards a

“We pray that the best will happen in that scenario so that Nigerians can be given the benefit of enjoying a new lease of life come 2015.”

    • Uzoma John

Oh, you have agreed that GMB has already won the election. Let us get there before talking of one term or two. Afterall your pay master who openly campaigned (with his own mouth) that he is doing one term in different fora kept denying it. Young man, you didn’t hear from GMB, you heard from Fashakin. GMB is not in the class of Jonathan. We can easily separate the wheat from the chaff.

      • Okey

If that’s what you make from this “lies as virtue” of APC, you urgently need relevant examination.

        • Charles Owolabi

That is the same way Buhari won the last election against GEJ
He ended up crying like a kindergarten child who’s mother dropped him off at school for the first day.
Our prayer is that after Buhari is soundly defeated that he does not resort to violence and respects the non violence accord reached by all the parties
We certainly do not want the baboon and dog socked in Blood

          • Otile

That day you better vote and run back home because once the result is announced his minions will stream into the streets and attack anybody they see. It is inevitable. It is their way of life. It has happened each time Buhari loses. His minions know it to be true.

        • Uzoma John

You and I don’t fall into the same category. You have sold your conscience to crumbs and falsehood. GMB never told you he was doing a single term. You are one of the compromised few giving us the Ibos bad name. People who can never stand by the truth. People who uphold deceit and falsehood. Don’t worry, March 28 is around the corner. Anu ohia.

          • Okey

If with irrefutable evidence, you still summon a bold face to attempt (albeit vainly) to contradict the obvious, certainly you have no conscience worthy of redemption, whatsoever. It is then obvious who is on a mercenary commission.

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Like the Yaounde Road in Cameroun that your man deceptively claimed as a new section of the P. Harcourt – Enugu Road?

Or the ‘Kwakwansiya University” that your man also claimed as his new university?

Or is it the private estate in the Lekki area that your man falsely claimed as government housing delivered in the North?

Or is it the train locomotives that your 419 President have to transport from one state to another on trucks by road?

It is only mugus like you that will see pictures taken inside an airport shuttle bus and accept it “inside air conditioned trains”.

          • Otile

Well, Buhari said he was not not going to run again in the year of the Lord 2011. He did not say he was not going to run in 2015. With little or no education he knew not what he was saying. Blame his inconsistency on poor understanding of English. Whenever he feels like making a speech he runs to BBC Hausa Service, that is his comfort zone.

          • emeka M

don’t mind them …they are allowed to choose GEJ.. since they have agreed to ignore all the facts of corruption because he gave them locomotive trains, built universities that we are yet to see the pictures or here of admission into, proclaimed agricultural sector improvements that has not translated into anything, the kilometer of roads that was false ,lack of proper military weapons, fuel scarcity, deplited foreign reserve, scams upon scams without no end result or judgement. LET us be sincere… can our ibo state be compared to abuja, we are just doing ethnicity when we should be using our intellect to know that we would want a dubai-cified nigeria, even half of a dubai-cified nigeria we would be grateful… but that is not it .

    • Festuso

Was Fashakin a spokesman for the APC at any time? That position belongs to Lai Mohammed not Fashakin. Fashakin was only expressing his own personal opinion which he is entitled to. Just because you are a Chieftain or Leader in a party does not mean everything you say is sacrosanct. The prerogative to speak for the party belongs ONLY to the person appointed as Publicity Secretary. Do you take every RIDICULOUS statement made by Governor Fayose as sacrosanct in the PDP simply because he is a chieftain of the party?

      • Okey

Fashakin Has been with Buhari before Lai Mohammed; was a founding member of APC; has always been Buhari’s spokesman; is one of the APC spokespersons at this hour. If therefore, he makes a statement and that statement was not refuted, I do not not who’s being credulous and mischievous in this matter. Whereas, in Fayose’s case, PDP wasted a second to state that he, Fayose, was not speaking for PDP. Virtually, all their claims have appeared to be woo-pulling over the eyes -is it the NICON2013 interviewed passed off as “London 2015 interview, ” or this instant case. APC should consider honsty as a virtue.

  • Let Us Pray

Buhari is a self-acclaimed anti-corruption Czar, yet he served under
late Sani Abacha without complaining of corruption. In the same period
Buhari served as PTF Chairman under Abacha, Nigeria was named the
2nd most corrupt country in the world in 1996 by Transparency
International; the most corrupt country in 1997 and 3rdmost country in
1998. Buhari didn’t resign or protest. He dismissed the TI Report with a
wave of the hand. Can he do the same if such report says Nigeria is the
most corrupt country in 2014? I know that Buhari would protest and call
    President Jonathan names.

Buhari as a man of integrity as he claims should have done what Tai
Solarin, Duro Onabule and Ebitu Ukiwe did under IBB’s regime. IBB’s
attempt to take Nigeria into the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC)
made his Chief of General Staff, Ebitu Ukiwe to resign. Ukiwe
maintained that Nigeria, as a country, should not be a member of a
religious organisation. Individual organisation can take up membership
of religious organisations, but not the country. IBB made Tai Solarin
the chairman of Peoples Bank with no fund and power to run it; he
resigned and tendered his apology to Nigerians.

Buhari has not apologized to Nigerians for working for the most
corrupt govt in the world then, but he still maintains that Abacha
didn’t loot Nigeria dry even as Abacah loots are still being sent back
    to Nigeria.

When he took over power by the gun, he supported rigging because it favoured him. But now, he is shouting of rigging. Hear him:

    “The last general election was
anything but free and fair. The only political parties that could
complain of election rigging are those parties that lacked the resources
to rig.” – M. Buhar (First Speech after Military Coup, 31 December, 1983)

  • Let Us Pray

Buhari believes that his religion is superior to other religions and
that Koran supersedes our constitution. In 2001, he gave his total
support for Sharia with this statement:

“I will continue to show openly and
inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping
all over Nigeria. God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the
total implementation of the Sharia in the country.”- M. Buhari (August 27, 2001)

He made the above statement after he had gone to BBC Hausa Service
to condemn the then Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for urging Muslims
states who adopted Sharia to return to the status quo.

If you think that these statements mean
nothing, then envision what would happen if a notable Christian
political leader from the south make the same statement about spreading
    Christianity across Nigeria.

Prior to the 2003 elections, he made another shocking statement:

should only vote those who will promote Islam. We are more than the
Christians if you add our Muslim brothers in the West.”- M. Buhari (2003)

    • baba

Let us pray and people alike are educated fools. Suffering and smiling people. Pray ur country be like dubai rather than the slum you. Are in today. What a shame, y did u go to school at all?

      • Let Us Pray

If you love education then you will realize that President Goodluck Jonathan is the
person that established the first and only federal university in Katsina
State – Buhari’s State and 100s almaijiri’s model schools across the
northern region. People like you and Buhari are against the almajiri schools.

  • Let Us Pray

Buhari is the only former Head of State
without a legacy. Not even one, despite ruling with iron-fist for 2
years. Someone said, Environmental sanitation is his legacy LOL and I
ask, how has that improved our economy? Or is Nigeria now the cleanest
country in the world with a booming tourism industry? And again, those
that attended his declaration were disappointed as he couldn’t present a
manifesto on how he can solve the numerous problems confronting
Nigeria. We keep hearing from the Buharists: “I will fight corruption; I will stop corruption; I will end corruption.” How? By mouth?

Recall what BBC said about Buhari’s economic policy: “Buhari’s
attempts to re-balance public finances by curbing imports led to many
job losses and the closure of businesses. These losses were accompanied
by a rise in prices and a decline in living standards.”

His economic policy started the devaluation of naira. During Shagari/Ekweme’s regime, $1 = N0.550 but before the end of his tenure in 1985, $1 = N0.894.

People who has not learnt how to sit is currently talking about walking, Nigeria l hale ooo. Buhari instead of giving a speech at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, he chose the Royal Institute of International Affairs, in far-away London. Rather than engage Jonathan in a presidential debate in Nigeria. I am still looking for someone to explain to me the relevance of Buhari’s London junket to a Nigerian presidential election. Britons don’t vote in Nigerian elections. Even Nigerians living abroad don’t vote. So what was the point of that charade? The APC presidential candidate has never written a book. He does not even have an article in a journal or newspaper to his name. We have yet to sort out the nagging issue of his missing school-leaving certificate. Every excuse he and his handlers come up with only further exposes their vacuity. One thing is for
sure; Buhari cannot agree to a debate because his campaign is all smoke and mirrors. Indeed, his trip might have made more sense if it had involved a dash to Cambridge to secure a bona fide copy of his fictitious 1961 WASC results.
