Nigeria 2015: Again, INEC extends deadline for PVC collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission has again extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards by two weeks.

The new deadline for collection of PVCs is now March 22 as against the March 8 deadline.

This was made known in a statement by Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega.

Following the postponement of the elections in February, INEC fixed March 8 as the deadline for collection of PVCS by registered voters.

Over 78 per cent of 68,833,476 voters registered for the forthcoming elections have collected their cards. As at February 27, the commission said 54,377,747 cards had been distributed to voters, representing 78.93 percent collection rate, INEC said.

This latest extension offers the last opportunity for duly registered persons to collect their PVCs before the general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11, INEC said.
“INEC hereby calls on registered persons that are yet to collect their PVCs to use this last opportunity in doing so, in order to participate in the forthcoming general elections,” the commission added.

Mr President love Nigerian and INEC is doing everything better for the benefit of the masses.
Your PVC is your power to influence and choose a leader of your choice.
Better number of the PVC hd bn circulated.
    More wisdom to INEC.

  • Okey

Is it still by the self-same Jega who said and insisted that all was ready for February 14 ? His earlier insistence on his ready is malafide. Jega has lost the moral authority to be allowed to conduct this election.

  • BlackieUmukoro

Despite these glaring inefficiency of INEC, APC and some misguided fellows still put the blame for the postponement of the polls att the door step of the Military and PDP rather than condemn INEC. Is it because their rigging plan with InEC had been bursted hence this unending cry by APC

    • New Nigerian

Do you realize that people will actually have to go and collect the cards at the nearest ward to their homes? If people still refuse to collect it what can INEC do?

      • BlackieUmukoro

It is not about refusal to go and collect, the card are not available at the designated centres as there are serious mis ups Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTN

it is good so that this run-away-soldiers (People Destroying party) will not have any excuse to run away from the election again

      hahaha People Desperado Party

    • Fairgame

Association of Perfect Criminals aka muslim brotherhood aka Arewa People’s Cancer are weeping now. Their attempt with JEGA to disenfranchise 23 million voters has failed.

  • Muhammad Inuwa Baba

INEC, please you also extend the period for the card exchanged which was closed since 15/01/2015, for those who have changed locations/stations from where they registered originally. Similarly, am of the view that there is no need for closing date for the collection of PVCs since they are personal and permanent .

  • Fairgame

JEGA’s lies and incompetence are now evident to all. JEGA said weeks ago he was ready for the elections! Yeye. Anyway his attempt to rig born to rule Bokohari back into power has failed.
