Nigerian govt. plans to deposit huge sum into Jega’s account — APC

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Nigerian government of planning to deposit a large sum of money into the bank account of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, in order to frame one of its leaders, Bola Tinubu.

The Spokesperson of the APC, Lai Mohammed, who addressed a press conference Wednesday in Lagos, made the claim.

APC said the goal of the plot was to use that as a reason to sack Mr. Jega so that he will not preside over the rescheduled elections slated for March 28 and April 11.

“There is a plot to transfer a humongous amount of money into the bank account of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, and then claim that the money came from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in order to justify the ongoing plan to sack Prof. Jega so he won’t organize the elections,” he said.

He also said that beyond Mr. Jega, there are plans to credit the bank accounts of some key national institutions in the country with huge amounts of money purportedly from the APC, ostensibly to compromise those institutions.

Mr. Mohammed added that despite repeated claims to the contrary, the government is truly working hard to truncate the conduct of the elections.

To this end, the APC spokesperson said the government plans to use some political parties that he said, are satellites of the ruling PDP, to push for the postponement of the elections again.

“The plot is to get the parties to address a press conference to say the elections should not hold in the North-east until September 2015 because of the ongoing counter-insurgency battle there.

“The intention is to make sure Jega’s tenure expires before the polls, so that they can appoint a malleable card-carrying member of the PDP as INEC Chair to conduct the polls,” he said.

He also said there is a plan to use the security agencies to intimidate key opposition leaders as well as the Nigerian Communications Commission and telecommunications service providers to disrupt voice and data transmission, especially in APC strongholds, on Election Day.

He said top on the list of the security agencies to be used against the opposition is the State Security Service, SSS, which will be used to compel all Resident Electoral Commissioners in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory -Abuja to hand over the names and telephone numbers of all INEC’s regular and ad hoc staff who will conduct the elections, as part of the Jonathan Administration’s rigging plans.

“It is no longer news that a signal has been sent to all state commands of the DSS (SSS) to get the list of all INEC Returning Officers and Adhoc Staff before March 10th.

“There is also the ongoing illegal recruitment of over 500 new cadets into one of the country’s security outfits, 50 per cent of whom are from the home state of the outfit’s top brass, in violation of the provisions of the Constitution, especially as the recruitment does not reflect the Federal Character,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed said nocturnal meetings are being held between various heads of national security agencies and the leadership of the PDP to undermine the coming elections; adding that the Presidency has retained the services of two Israelis and a Belgian who are currently holed up in the Aso Rock Villa to hack and corrupt INEC computers on election day, with the trio having already been paid 25 percent of their contract fees upfront.

Another accusation from the APC is that there is an ongoing effort to compromise the card reader, which Mr. Mohammed said, the Jonathan administration sees as inimical to its rigging plans.

“Huge funds are being provided for retired and serving security personnel to buy up PVCs, with the hope that they can be used once the card reader is compromised,” he said.

He recalled a case in court that sought to declare the use of the card readers in the forthcoming elections unconstitutional.

“In the days leading up to the elections, the Jonathan Administration is planning to give the opposition the Ekiti treatment by massively arresting key opposition leaders, with a view to destabilizing their ranks, putting them away and paving the way for a free rein of their rigging agents.

“Towards this end, thousands of signed blank detention orders have been procured.

“As part of the plan to implicate our leaders, illegal substances may be put into their checked-in luggage during local and international flights. That is why we are calling on our leaders to travel only with their carry-on baggage,” Mr. Mohammed said.

He also said the detailed plans by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the PDP are part of the massive intelligence the APC are receiving daily from “patriotic” Nigerians, within and outside the government, who, he said, are eager to see the conduct of a free, fair, credible and violence-free elections that will catapult Nigeria to the league of truly democratic nations.

“We have decided to share the information we are receiving with Nigerians because we believe that no power is strong enough to stop a people who are determined to effect change in the way and manner they are being governed, and that the ultimate power resides in the people.

“We have no doubt that the information will fortify the local and international observers who are coming for the elections, in addition to enhancing the vigilance of the citizenry before, during and after the polls,” he said.

APC talk as if they are to win the election. Just assuming winning is evil that will create violence when you lose.

  • Frank Bassey

So, the story has changed from sacking Jega to paying money into his account. Everyday, your face continues to decay with LIES. You have remained silent over the photo of Buhari’s London interview in Abuja.

  • Bhadmos Taiwo

Whatever they do, the will of the Almighty God shall surely come to pass. We’ve had to face more formidable treats and obstacles during IBB and Abacha, at last they all became history. Surely , they will not prosper in their wickedness in Jesus Name.

  • dd

How are we sure if this Israeli and Beagian Hackers are not what APC have done in Tinubu’s house – the reason why the army were pimping his house to see who was inside. How do we know that you people have not already deposited some money in Jega’s account?

  • dd

Why is APC so fearful of a neutral person to conduct the election when the tenure of Jega expires? I think last time you said even if the election is postpone for another 1000 days you will win. So if Jega leave this world today means Nigeria cannot find another person to hold the election?

    • Jt

why PDP don’t want card reader ask yourself? why de them want jaga to be remove?

  • dd

How are we sure all these are not reverse allegation?

    • bib

All the other allegations they made has become true. God willing the evil machinations of this PDP and it’s criminal govt shall fail.

  • Chris1408

Must elections always be a do or die affairs in Nigeria. Nigerian politicians are very desperate. No wonder this country is sinking

  • Anene Mercy

Hahahahhaha, APC always raising fake and unverifiable Alarm evertime.

    • blueeyedkitten

yeah! they caught you pants down again. let me tell you little fella: all your plans to rig this election will continue to be exposed. that stinking piece of shit called PDP will be dead on march 28(atleast in the centre).

  • Anene Mercy

It seems APC has paid into Jega account and it leaked and they ran out to cry foul. APC is evil. But the law will take its course. If Tinubu is found guilty he should go in. Simple

  • Ahmad

PDP mafia are capable of doing ANYTHING imaginable and unimaginable to rigg or scuttle the 2015 polls. They are that evil.

    • blueeyedkitten

o yes! they have their agents scattered all over the local govt in the north….buying pvcs from fools at the rate of N20,000 each; and then destroying them(since jega refused to back down from the use of card readers). what manner of desperation is this? it is just too disgusting. this bastards are ready to kill everybody just to remain in power.

  • Layo

Jonathan will end up like Laurent Gbagbo and all those pushing him will disappear. God will frustrate their plans and Nigerians are not fools.

    • Onike24

That is becoming clearer and clearer everyday.

I can swear that APC paid into Jega’s account but came out to shout as usual and claim innocence when the secret become open.

  • Etang Chris

Wow, APC again. They will send Jega to prison if the INEC boss is not careful.

  • Holy Moses

    Mujahedeen Lie-Lie Mohammed:

  • inuwa kate

Jonathan should move in and investigate this claim by APC. It is possible they might have paid into Jega and out of fear raised alarm to deceive the public. This allegation must be swept under the carpet.

  • bonifacejoe

We are used to Lie Mohammed manufacturing scenes and scineries. Why are they so aligned to vital public servants? We Nigerians were aware of how they ruined the career of Justice Salami. Why can’t they live public servants alone to perform their constitutional duties. Jega should be careful not to be messed up by some Arewa elders and APC judging from allegations by some concerned groups.

    • NTT

Apc r the first to alleged that pdpig are planning to shift the election , and it has come to b true . Lai should not relent. March4GMB2015.

A case of one week one lies, issuing statement from London and Dubai, am beginning to suspect APC and JEGA hv formed alliance. Is there something btw APC and JEGA that we are not been told? There is more to this than meets the eyes. APC rating has drastically gone down with the recent exposition of Tinubu looting n osibanjo oat taking. Buhari is no where to be found.

  • Gbofia Lunar

I believe there are people within the federal government who have been blackmailed into submission by the PDP divulging all of this info to the APC. One gets the feeling here, especially after the Ekitigate scandal that there are more unpleasant & timed exposés in store for PDP.

    • danjuma

Lunar, APC is an alarmist party. Forget this propaganda. They must have paid into Jega’s account and it leaked.

      • blueeyedkitten

        you bloody imposter!

    • Jerry Martins

      You got it right!

  • danjuma

APC is afraid that their evil deal with Jega will leak so they raised force alarm. We know who they are. But this one will not go unpunished. FG should deal with anyone in APC no matter how highly placed who paid such amount into Jega account.

More is coming from APC liars

  • NTT

Gej pdpig led govt will do everything to rig the coming election. But God pass them.

  • Ologun David

I know Lia Muhammed very well. It seems presidency has broken into their alliance with Jega with facts of monetary inducement, so they want to deceive the public with their usual lies and buy into public sentiment.

    • Bratos

      • Ologun David

Lie lie Muhammed is a known alarmist. He raises deceitful alarm always. APC is evil, quote me anywhere.

One of the card readers meant to be used in the forth coming general elections has failed in a trial session in Enugu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, invited journalists to showcase its preparedness for the election but disappointed observers when the card reader did not work for over 30 minutes.

Reports confirm that the PVC of one of the journalists was inserted, after which that of a member of the Civil Society Organization was equally tried, but both failed the test.

The exercise failed as the card reading machine could not work for over 30 minutes, a situation that left the audience embarrassed.

Meanwhile, INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, who was a guest of the Senate on Wednesday where he briefed the lawmakers on the commission’s preparedness so far, said it only takes 30 seconds for the card readers to carry out an authentication.

Jega disclosed that in instances where a card reader‎, which is configured to a particular polling unit, fails, it would be replaced before 1pm or the election in that particular polling unit would be postponed to the next day.

    • burning spear

ALL THESE CARDS ARE JUST MONEY CONSUMING DEVICES———————–NIGERIA IS NOT EUROPE–OR AMERICA—–WE ARE NOT RIPE ENOUGH FOR THESE CHINESE PRODUCTS—We are yet to settle the issue of PVC—–then some animals sell the idea of card readers————————which needs to be charged every 4 hours—————-in the rural—not to talk of cities—————–where we do not have constant light————–only God will save Nigeria———from her greedy unthinking–regional Shylocks

      • Ade

Nigeria is not Europe or America and yet Nigerians are using cars and air craft made in Europe. There is nothing wrong with that. Mumu.

    • Okey

If Jega felt extremely reluctant to give the East additional polling units, in delivering the PVCs, why will he feel any sense of duty to provide matching card readers ? And for your information, the card readers can simply be programmed not to comply in a particular polling booth or a majority of the areas of a particular state. Besides, the test-run has no meaning. Jega may well have a good test-run of the card readers now but conversely supply you a programmed one bound to fail at the material time.

Baseless point…….with out fact, though he paid for them but due to heavy corruption they were no implemented…………

    • logmein2nite

You being deceived. Do your research better. Example paying you N18,000 new minimum wage but you buy fuel N97 instead of N65, you have 50%or more increase in power bill with no power improvement, your Naira value exchange for N213 instead of N115. You “assemble” cars in Nigeria but average car price increase by 15%, still more unaffordable to Nigerians except banks and government. Which country is exporting rice – I dey laugh o. Dangote is still making billions importing rice each day. Do serious research, stop watching PDP paid advertorial on TV. Better change is coming.. We no be small pickin again o.

    • rhad

Check all the rice that was shared by jonathan, fayose and patience they are all imported rice. The videos are still on youtube. How does all of this affect the prices of a cup of rice, garri, beans etc. The greatness of a nation depends on its ability to feed its citizenry. Are you better of today? may be you are one of the few that is sharing and enjoying what belongs to many.

    • Daniel Ikwuagwu

Please analyze past allegations and this one. Which one has not come
to pass yet? is it the feverish attempts to discredit the card reader or
the subtle open attempts by the PDP and government to send Jega

A lot of critics called for the head of the APC leaders
when they first raised alarm over the (now accomplished) plan to shift
the elections. That was one of many. Even the Boko Haram war has become a
campaign tool. Listen to the Chadian and Nigerien armies. Study the
Ekiti-gate and the deafening silence of the President. Why the
desperation to push back Obanikoro as minister even with the Ekiti
      scandal? It is an abnormality.

Are we even listening? Or we have
blocked our senses because Jonathan is our “brother”, Buhari “a
fundamentalist northerner”, and because (perhaps) we benefit from soiled
largesse from Jonathan’s government? What about the overall benefit of
Nigerians? What about the good future of Nigeria? Let every one think

      prosperity of Nigeria.

No one will sack jega . No one will stop the use of card reader. Mr president said we want to move forward. I agree with him. But we shall move forward without Jonathan and his gang of thieves.
Forward Nigeria, march toward for buhari

  • evi

Pdp has discovered how many billions was paid to jega by apc to disenfranchise 23 million voters from the south so as to hand victory to buhari through the back door and apc has quickly run to the media to remove suspicion from them. It is matter of time before we get the full details how apc bribed Jega with billions and almost succeeded in giving buhari victory through lopsided pvc distribution.

    • Remi

Where is the logic in your write up. Was Jega in 36 states and Abuja at the same time distributing PVC or sorry supervising the distribution. What people complaining about distribution of PVC fail to realize is that Northern people are patient to wait for collection unlike in the south where everybody is a hurry. And what do you expect so called inequality in distribution. Also we are always scared to vote in the south. All we do is make a lot of noise and on election day take sleeping tablet and sleep. When the result has been declared we continue with our noise and suffering.

      • evi

We are always scared to vote in the south?! Are you serious?! Do you actually believe what you typed? You can’t be from the south and type that trash, with all the stories about how thousands of pvc still being expected and millions that can’t find their names on inec register, all of them from the south and Jega insisting that he was ready Feb 14 should tell you this was a grand plan to disenfranchise voters from the south.

        • abc

It is only that you people are noise makers. I checked Inec office on 4 occasions, but I couldn’t get my PVC. But I just accept it as it is, but encourage my family members to get their own despite all difficulties. So why wouldn’t you people take your time,go out and collect your cards.

    • hot head

You are obviously daft. When Jega conducted election in Ekiti and PDP won, APC did not cry foul of INEC complicity? For your information,Prof Attahiru Jega is not one of those corrupt chop-i-chop PDPigs scallywags who can be easily compromised by anybody. If he were that type of person, he would have made himself available to your Jona the Dumbo and his corrupt PDP. since

  • djay

Provided Gej has turned a blind eye over the Ekiti saga, I believe that with the desperation of Gej and pdp they are ready to do all things possible to rig the election cos that’s the only way pdp knows to win election since 2003. Gej is that bird that can’t fly cos even people close to him and in his govt are working towards his defeat by feeding opposition party pdp plans.
