Fayose celebrates Obasanjo’s exit from PDP, says ex-President a bad rubbish

The exit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has elicited a celebratory response from Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

On Monday, Mr Fayose bought front page advertisements in some national newspapers celebrating the exit of Mr. Obasanjo, whom he described as “the troubler and tormentor” of the party.

In the advert, Mr Fayose, who had previously called for Mr Obasanjo’s dismissal from the party, arguing that his relentless criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan and his mingling with opposition leaders amounted to anti-party conducts, also congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan, saying with the exit of Mr. Obasanjo from the party, “the coast is now clear” for the president’s victory in the forthcoming election.

“Congratulation on Obasanjo’s exit! Obasanjo, the troubler and tormentor of our party is gone,” the advert announced.

“I congratulate our President, His Excellency Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the entire member of the Peoples Democratic Party on the exit of the mole in our party, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd). Good riddance to bad rubbish,” the advertorial continued.

“Our President, the coast is now clear for your victory!”

Last week, pre-empting a move to sack him from the party, Mr Obasanjo dumped the PDP and supervised the shredding of his party membership cared by his ward chairman. He subsequently announced that he was quitting party politics and transforming to a non partisan statesman.

Mr Fayose and Mr. Obasanjo have been at dagger drawn since 2006 after the governor was impeached for corruption during his first term as governor of the state.

It was believed that Mr Obasanjo, who was president at the time, facilitated his impeachment by instructing the members of the state assembly to act on an Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s investigative report indicting Mr. Fayose of corruption.

Mr. Obasanjo’s exit from the party has elicited conflicting reaction from the party hierarchy. While the Chairman, and Secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih and Walid Jibrin, declared that Mr Obasanjo acted irresponsibly by tearing his membership card and would not be missed by the fold, a statement signed by the party’s publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, expressed sadness over the former President’s exit from the party, saying he turned down pleas not to leave.

Monday’s advert is a continuation of Mr. Fayose’s style of placing usually controversial adverts in newspapers since the commencement of campaigns for the presidential election.

Last month, Mr Fayose drew intense criticism to himself after he placed front-page adverts in the Punch and the Sun newspapers suggesting that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, will die in office if elected president.

This Afao Bushman again. Totally bereft of diplomacy and social etiquette. Sorry, fellow Nigerians, we are not like this in Ekiti -State. But as you well know, there will always be the odd one out.

    • danny

And Fayemi was ‘diplomatic with social etiquette’, that was why he spent his time on elitist GOLDEN BEDS And empowering job-men from Lagos state, that was why he was rejected by the people.

  • Don Messi

Obj brought all this disgrace on himself by his holier than thou attitude.
Most of the rascals we see making jest at Obj were his boys at one time or the other.
These PDP guys r not clean..but neither is Baba.
The same Obj who was heard by millions of Naijas instructing the ward chairman to tear his card into shreds..came out days after to claim he only told the ward chairman to do as he pleased with the card!

*I like that pic above…that is why he is loved by the masses in Ekiti. BUT will he work for them this time??
    Correct African man! Stomach infrastructure;

Please, Nigerians pray for Ayodele Fayose quick recovery from mental illness. He needs our understanding and support through prayer. That a man walks about clothed does not connote good mental health. He once slapped a Kabiyesi (a king) during his first regime in Ekiti. He ordered that a sitting Judge be beaten. He intimidates political opponents and some even attacked. Only a mentally deranged man, a mentally challenged fellow does all these. Eyin ara ile Ayodele Fayose e tete lo setoju omo yin koto ja soja. Mo wi fun yin to o.

      Plus Gov Amechi.

Fayose just enjoy ur amala for now, cause ur impeachment is just a few months away, plus jail time for corruption and rigging, i wonder if they have amala in prison

Bros, look the picture, it is either semovita or pounded yam. Jeun ko ku.

  • Wähala

Agbero Governor of Ekiti, Ayo Fayose is seen eating by the gutter-side with his dirty cap right next to the food and nothing to toss the picked bones… what a disgusting sight. If he likes let him take out ads everyday of the week, Buhari is the next president to be sworn-in on the 29th of May, and Fayose will be impeached and returned to prison with hard labor. Methinks, Ayo Fayose will abdicate his Governor’s seat and duties and abscond like Bode George has promised rather than live in Nigeria under Gen. Buhari and the APC… and, they won’t be alone, many will bolt when the DJ starts playing: ‘Banditos!’

  • BitterTruth

Ayo Fayose, your days are numbered in that office…such a crook like you does not worth to be a governor of any state in Nigeria.

  • DanielOsazuwa

Ekiti stomach infrastructure at it best. What a shame.

For sure this tout will be remove as Governor once again. He cannot escape impeachment come June 2015.

In Yorubaland there is a saying that when you find a child abusing elders, he doesn’t know who is his father where the respect of elders would have been inculcated into the mind of the child. As Senator Arise said the hate of Governor Ayo Fayose towards General Muhammed Buhari is beyond believe and he was not doing it on behalf of Ekiti PDP the Governor being the leader of the party in Ekiti State. Another example of a child open abuse to the elders is Ayo Fayose attack on President Obasanjo because of political opinion of Obasanjo agains political opinion of President Jonathan. In politics in a civilize communities political conversation is healthy. Former President Obasanjo made political remarks in conversation towards President Jonathan expressing his views and opinion to the current issues in the country. Political Associates to President Jonathan did not take the conversation kindly, it was one abuses attack or another towards former President Obasanjo without adding value to the conversation. Defense Headquarters where former President Obasanjo rose to be a General and twice the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, as a Military Head of State and the Civilian President, did not look kindly to the reference made by President Obasanjo to it in the conversation, they came out openly to attack their former Commander in Chief because of the dirty politics being played, today in Nigeria. Ayodele Fayose has now, as he did to GMB in the newspapers, bought a full page to only castigate former President Obasanjo for a conversation between Obasanjo and Jonathan. There was no place where Fayose was called upon to join the conversation to warrant attacking an elder Stateman. This is how erratic Governor Ayodele Fayose is in an unnecessary attack on the elders. CHANGE! YES WE CAN.

    • Cambota

      Gov Amechi nok?.

  • Funso

    Ọmọ àlè ni Ayọ Fayọṣe

Fayose is obviously too unstable, too unexposed and too primitive to know that anyone who plays a game of absolutism will either win or lose. There will be NO middle of the road. It is a high stake game. And it has dire consequences. Fingers crossed!

  • Sir k

Losing your father does not mean you should disrespect your elders,,Omo ase iru e fun wo naa.Amin.

    • Scrutiny

Yet most of you abuse Pa Edwin Clarke, who is even older than President Obasanjo without qualms. If the argument for castigating Old man Clarke is his conduct, then OBJ deserves more. Considering the gifting of PDP to him, any truly objective person would say he ought to treat PDP more kindly. When old people behave in ways less than is expected of them, let us find the courage to criticize (not abuse) them. But to think that they should carry on unrestrained is pushing culture to the ridiculous level, especially when we don’t apply same standards to others

…And the (PDP) mob shouted to Pilate to release Barabas and crucify Christ! Subsequently creatures conspired to crucify their creator following mob advise. Obasanjo is a ‘saint’ compared to Fayose. Obasanjo’s ‘creation’ produced most if these miscreants loitering aimlessly at the corridor of power. Fayose may have brought 100 criminals to PDP, but Obasanjo’s exit will certainly take 500,000 members and 1 million votes away from the PDP. We fail to realise that card carrying members of the PDP personally shredded Obasanjo’s membership card before the camera. Common sense is not common to notorious psychopaths like Fayose whose time is closing up.

  • Chris1408

Those the gods want to send to eternity, they first remove their clothes in the market square, make them shout and throw stones. Fayose is close to his end.

  • Otitokoro

This Ayo Fayose face is the face of PDP/Goodluck Jonathan in Yorubaland. Yinka Odumakin, Ayo Adebanjo, Fashoranti, Buruji Kashamu, Mimiko, Femi Fanikayode, Femi Aribisala, Fasehun, Ganiyu Adams, you all led the oil man-to Yoruba land recently to Yoruba Obas- helping the oil man to carry his oil bag of oil money and slaving after him. So? This Ayo Fayose face is the face you are pushing in Yoruba land. I am shocked. You Mimiko and Yinka Odumakin, you even wear Awolowo style cap thinking that the hood makes the monk! But my question is: Can you see this Ayo Fayose picture? is this the serious, rigorous, deep, profound , intellectual , reflective, introspective, face of Awolowo and the legacy he bequeathed to us? Is the combination of Ayo Fayose, Buruji Kashamu, Femi Fanikayode, Omisore, Bode George, what Awolowo sent us to do among our people? I am just wondering: is this PDP/Goodluck Jonathan face in Yorubaland, who the Yorubas are? I know the answer is NO. Can you see this Ayo Fayose/PDP/Goodluck Jonathan Face? Does this represent us? Ayo Adebanjo, Yinka Odumakin, Fashoranti, Olu Falae, Adams, Fasehun, Mimiko, I leave this ugliness, this desecration of our legacy as Omoluwabi, this eternal violation of our heritage, the mercantilism you are bringing to Yoruba land in service of the Oil man’s (Goodluck Jonathan) failed and dubious re-election bid to you and your conscience. We shall tell this to history.

Listen to the world’s best president, Port Harcourt Dr Jonathan’s key quotes for 2015 elections:
    1. Stealing is not corruption
    2. Our generation has failed
    3. I underestimated Boko Haram
    4. I am being deceived by my advisers
    5. My administration would like to abolish prisons
    6. We are fighting corruption with (unmanned?) technology

Before GEJ’s administration Nigeria has not been fortunate to have purposeful and visionary leadership that can help galvanize the country to the pinnacle of socio-economic and political growth and development. But Goodluck came and turned the tides around

  • faith adams

A father should want peace at all times, but obj is not a man of such

  • Kufere

It will be recalled that in the first four years of the Obasanjo administration, Nigeria was in the wilderness, as the President kept gallivanting throughout the globe, not minding the multiplicity of encumbrances the country is enmeshed in. He is rather more interested in what the international community thinks about him. This is the real reason that the developmental dividends of democracy have not percolated to the people that actually needs them. Instead of setting goals and targets that can positively move the country, he plays the politics of divide and rule, ethnic sentiment, religious passion, exclusionist agenda and runs a- one- man- show.

  • I don’t blame them, OBJ brought this upon himself.

  • How are the mighty fallen. after all he benefited from PDP , even seeking for a third term, what a way to exit the party. pitiful

  • chinwe davis

so much with old age wisdom, i wonder what this will be called. old age folly

  • Good riddance to bad rubbish.
