Gunmen kill 3, injure 7 in Plateau

Gunmen on Tuesday night unleashed mayhem at the border between Mangu and Barkinladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, killing three and injuring seven others.

Witnesses said armed men carried out the attacks at Mongul village, Kantoma district in Mangu Local Government Area and in Lambal, Gana-rop villages of Barkinladi Local Government Area of Plateau state.

The Police Public Relation Officer of the Plateau state command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incidents to journalists in Jos in an interview on Wednesday.

Mr. Abuh, described the incident as “unfortunate” but assured that the culprits will be arrested, as intense investigations into the incidents has commenced.

“We have beefed up security in the area, and I can assure you that perpetrators of the crime will be apprehended. Not just on the killings in Barkinladi, but the Nigeria police will intensify security checks across the state to safeguard lives and property of the citizenry,” he said.

Family sources said the injured persons were being hospital within the council areas.

There has been renewed attacks and killings of citizens in Plateau state in recent times.

On Sunday, a Ward chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Samuel Doro, was shot dead by gunmen.
His killers are yet to be arrested.
