PDP wants APC investigated over anti-election leaflets

Olisa Metuh, Spokesman, PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described as revealing, the attempt by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to politicize the circulation of anti-election leaflets in Gombe State.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Tuesday alerted that the rush with which the APC started raining accusations was “suspect and betrays a subterfuge; a spirited attempt to cover-up, divert attention and distract the security forces from getting to those behind the threats”.

“Ordinarily, many Nigerians saw the statement by the APC as merely political, but looking beyond the veneer of politics undoubtedly is a bigger picture of an opposition party deeply involved but craftily deploying a smokescreen to divert attention through a hurried attempt to politicize a very serious security issue.

“Whereas it is incontrovertible that Gombe remains a stronghold of the PDP with the soaring popularity of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, we urge Nigerians to make their deduction as to which party stands to gain from any anti-election threat in the state. Is it the PDP for whom Gombe is a stronghold or the APC, which has been seeking to turn the state into a theater of violence owing to its dwindling popularity?

“Furthermore, the manner with which the APC in its statement described the convoy of the insurgents and their said movements from Maiduguri to Gombe raises an issue. Is it that the APC has their members among the insurgents or is it part of its fabrication and lies to score cheap political point?

“Nigerians are aware of series of attempts by the APC to cause mayhem in Gombe as a means to dislodge the PDP in the state. The December 18th 2014 ambush and attack on the convoy of Governor Dankwambo by APC thugs is still fresh in the mind.

“We therefore demand a thorough investigation into the matter as it might assist in unraveling other knotty issues regarding the security challenges in the country.

“This is especially as the APC has shown the capacity to find a voice and thrive whenever Nigerians come under attack or threat, as well as the proclivity for actions and utterances that tend to cause confusion, distract security agencies and embolden insurgents and their supporters”, the PDP said.

The party therefore urged Nigerians to be wary of the APC, stating that its fabrications may not only be for propaganda but also for more sinister agenda.

Noting that it will not be distracted but continue to focus on its campaign, the PDP restated its readiness for the March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections adding that with its record of performance and support of Nigerians across board, it will receive a sweeping victory not only in Gombe but also in all the states of the federation.

Mr Metuh, it is public knowledge that the villagers and other communities living along the route taken by the insurgents have testified to the movement of these terrorists. In any case, I believe there is a nexus between the party that hailed the postponement of the elections and the threat by the terrorists against any one who ventures out to vote. The last time I checked, APC was vehemently against election shift. The question then sir is, with this your statement who is fooling who really?

    • bib

      Thank you. No further comment.

    • Truth

On point, Metuh should only read this and keep shot and tell his people to stop all forms of attempt to scare Nigeria aways from this election.

      • Abdulrahman Mohammed Abdulmali

True talk, you see, you think well when your brain is in the skull I wonder why some people intentionally maneuver the brain to their tommy in order conceal the truth

APC is same as boko haram. They know their exodus. They know when book haram shares leaflets so that they will prepare a release on how to blame PDP or presidency. The only option we have now as patriot nigerians is to prevent them from winning this election and turn Nigeria to Palestine.

Since two or three days ago that our military have been pounding boko haram they have made any statement to commend these nigerians who risk their lives on the battle field. They might have prepared a press statement waiting for slip and they will move to blame PDP and Jonathan.

    Yeye party.

    • Yola

Pls try and use your real name stop imposting. Who are those that want election postponed?

      • Aisha

Is Yola ur name? Those in glass houses don’t throw stone. U think it is not my name because u are fake. Everything about APC is fake.

  • Victor Gee

Buhari is very violent. His party is also violent. Going by what happened in 2011, where young nigerians were killed on the orders of Buhari, for losing out in a free and fair election no voter should cast his or her vote for him.

He never apologised to the victims family or made any statement to condemn such barbaric act. How can a man who has blood in his hands rule us.

No. We will resist him. Gej carry go

    • The Nigeria Future Project

You really shouldn’t continue perpetuating a lie – Buhari did not order anyone to kill anyone during the 2011 elections. Nigerians are tired of lying politicians and their cohorts

  • The Nigeria Future Project

If PDP did not win Gombe in 2011 – how does Gomber “remain” a stronghold of Goodluck Jonathan?

    • Aisha

Gombe since 1999 has been a PDP state. What else makes a state a party stronghold?

      • The Nigeria Future Project

check the INEC stats for 2011 – PDP won 37% of the votes in Gombe in the presidential election. Just because the governor is PDP does not mean Jonathan won Gombe in 2011

        • Etang Chris

So which party is strong in Gombe?

        • onyekaokorie

Are u trying to say that because GEJ won Lagos in 2011, Lagos is now PDP stronghold.

  • Etang Chris

APC is a danger to our national peace. When the Egypt allowed Muslim brotherhood to take over its govt, they were also shouting change not knowing the danger inherent. Today Egypt is in turmoil. We must not make the same mistake. APC is evil.

  • danjuma

Investigated and arrested. Their supporters are becoming too violent as if violence resides only within APC. They attack PDP fans every where every time. This has to stop.

  • onyekaokorie

APC wants Nigeria to be held hostage by these old cargoes who and dying politicians who destroyed this country. They knew they will fail in March 28, and that’s why are frightening the people from coming out to vote.

But no way, the military has subdued boko haram and will wipe them by His Grace.

  • Victor Gee

We must resist APC with all patriot zeal and strength. They are enemies of Nigeria state. Take a look at the leaders, Obasanjo, Tinubu, Buhari, Amechi.

  • Maitama Tambari

Olisa Metuh. Haba! APC raised the alarm over a week ago in PDP State, Gombe. PDP led to the shifting of election from 28-02-15 to 28-03-15 with ordinary reasons and jubilated on the shifting. APC objected to the shifting of election to 28-03-15, every one in Nigeria and around the world heard them clearly, why should they be the culprits of the repugnant circulars in Gombe State? The Chief Executive is PDP, APC was only calling to the attention of Nigerians to the antics of PDP when NSA flew the kite in London on shifting of election, was to test the water. The call was brought to National Council of States, the same issue raised in London. The responsibility of taking the decision was cleverly pushed to INEC to be the culprit. It has become the culprit. Who next on this circular in Gombe State, we are watching but Olisa Metuh do not change the arrow head of the architect. CHANGE! YES WE CAN.

  • grace folarin

APC have supporters that they re killing all in the name of power for the party and blind ignorant nigerians will still be clamouring for change. right now APC is a power thirsty party that would do anything to collect power. but that will never happen in this country. #GEJ4NAIJA #NO2buhari

  • korona melvin

IS THIS THE CHANGE APC IS ALL ABOUT? NIGERIANS CAN SEE. VOTE WISELY, VOTE GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN #GEJ4NAIJA
