PDP laments Obasanjo’s exit, says ex-President rejected pleas

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party has expressed sadness over former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s decision, Monday, to dump the party.

Mr. Obasanjo announced his resignation from the party at a dramatic meeting where he ordered his party membership card be shredded.

PDP officials had earlier condemned the act, with the secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees, Walid Jibrin, saying Mr. Obasanjo acted irresponsibly.

The chairman of the board, Tony Anenih, said the former leader will not be missed by the party.

In its official statement, signed by spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, the PDP said it was “saddened” by Mr. Obasanjo’s departure, and lamented the party’s inability to pacify the former president after several pleas.

Read full Statement below:

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has received the news of the decision of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to withdraw his membership of our great party. We have also carefully examined the circumstances and the reasons adduced for this unfortunate decision.

While we concede to the inalienable rights of every citizen to hold opinion and to decide who to associate with, we are however deeply saddened that Chief Obasanjo, a revered leader of our party, our first Presidential flagbearer whom the PDP offered the platform to rule our nation for eight years, could decide to abandon this party at this critical point in time.

This is especially as Chief Obasanjo, who was also the Chairman of the highest advisory organ of the PDP, the Board of Trustees (BoT) discountenanced all pleas by elders and leaders of our great party with regard to his reservations on certain issues within our fold.

Many Nigerians are still bewildered as to what manner of provocation could have led a former President to lose his composure and go to the extent of tearing the membership card of the party that he once led.

Indeed, the PDP is hugely at loss as to how the decision and action of the former President who had enjoyed the benefits of being elected to the highest position of leadership will assist in deepening our democracy and stabilizing the polity.

It is our considered opinion that no matter the provocation, a statesmanly disposition from a person of Chief Obasanjo’s status could have encouraged our citizens and help in stabilizing system.

We believe however, that what this country needs now is patriotic actions that engender national unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence of our people irrespective of political, ethnic and religious
persuasions. The overall interest of our nation and wellbeing of our citizens must remain paramount and above all personal and group interests.

Finally, we direct all our members across the country to remain focused on our campaigns and not to be distracted on this issue. With an array of credible candidates led by our Presidential flagbearer, President Goodluck Jonathan, we are sure that we will emerge victorious come March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections.

It is really sad. Jonathan is set in his way. He was pleading with obj but he wasn’t ready to bend, concede or admit that he took the country in the wrong direction. Instead he was saying OBJ wanted to run his government. OBJ doesn’t need to run anybody’s government. I believe he is a fulfilled man politically; he ran this country 3 times. What else is he looking for. GEJ is simply a big let down. Not just obj he let down, he let Nigerians down. He allowed some bandit to hijack Nigeria’s ship from him. I’m not surprised to hear Chief Anenih said. Not surprise at all. These are men that wrecked GEJ political career.

You people want everybody to fold their arm and sit down looking while the country go down a drain, the country is dividing along ethnic and religion line thanks to the present administration, things are going wrong everyday and you want them to just keep silent and watch the country to collapse.Nigeria is for all and can not be leave for some I don’t give a damn govt to destroy.

There will be a mass exodus of some PDP members soon. OBJ and his PDP loyalists have been decimated and humiliated by Jonathan and his handlers. Expect PDP’s final burial soonest. Shame on a man who cannot manage people. Jonathan lacks the mental capacity to manage people. He behaves like a child.

    • warry

Let us wait and see. Exodus in PDP to join your moron? GEJ will retire all those that ruined Nigeria. If all those that kept this country in bondage for over 50yrs are on one side, then who is the change? Lies and propaganda of missing money did not help. Boko Haram is being crushed. What else? New lies please

and to entertain you in my small house. I love you!

  • Ebele Shoeless

This sounds a bit respectful press release. But what the BOT wing said was quite offensive. However, we are yet to hear from the following notorious spoke persons: 1. FFK 2. OKUPE 3. CLARK 4. FAYOSE 5. DOKUBO and the last also the least I.e. Abbati. I believe when these people respond, GMB should just wind up his campaign and wait for election day and subsequently taking over comes May bcos they will definitely finalize burying pdp.

  • ade akin

Several times, I wonder why there is so much decay in Nigeria. The answer lies in the fact that mediocres and very unfit people get to the topmost level of decision making in the country. Obasanjo has always displayed traits of a man who should never have ruled a nation. His recent action of ordering the tearing of his membership card of PDP lends credence to this. This is an uncivilized and brutish way of showing disenchantment. This is a party that made it possible for him to be the President for 8 years!! Could it be that he is justifying a veiled reference as a motor park tout?

    • tamedu 777

The party made it possible for him u said? You guys analysis amazes me. This is one of the key guys that held the party together. The north trust obj than any of pdp current members. He has always been a binding force. But you ethnic sentiments has beclouded your sincerity

  • Chris1408

Anything GEJ touches, dies. Look at what he’s done to Nigeria. Thank God he’s finishing PDP. Nigerians will celebrate at PDP obituary

    • burning spear

Obasanjo–is not going to be missed one little bit by PDP—–cause he is evil to a fault——-HE HAS his conscience with him–since that is the only thing that will judge him–not Jonathan—- no other person will but his blood stained conscience–that he used in sleeping with his sons wife—-

  • Godfrey Etokebe

What a NICE POLITICAL OBITUARY from PDP. The most important phrase in an obituary is missing and that is:
    ”HE WILL BE HIGHLY MISSED”.
God! Obasanjo must have been such a great LIABILITY to PDP not be MISSED at ALL!!!

  • warry

Dear Nigerians the likes of Obj are the ones that ruined this country .Now that they have exposed themselves, let us retire all of them in one fell swoop by voting massively for GEJ. If not it were possible to solve all Nigeria’s problems in 4yrs as they are telling us concerning GEJ,Obj has had a total of 111/2 years and we still had problems left for GEJ. Buhari had 20 months and was also with Abacha, yet many problems were left for GEJ and they want him to completely solve all of them, not improvements. This is wicked

    • eddy

What has he achieved in 6yrs? Leave ur many story…

      • warry

At least if you are not smart enough to see Trains moving again,is it GEJ’s fault? Now all those opposing him have not shown us what they did or will do differently. The whole propaganda and manipulations is all about power must return to the North now, so that some lazy elites who do not like due process under GEJ can make free money again as they used to before GEJ

    • tamedu 777

Vote for a goat? You will soon understand what it takes for people like obj to leave pdp. Pls look around the party and list out the heavy weights you have there. The party is finished

  • mike

Pdp trying to sound responsible. You can’t deceive me with this smoke screen of a response.
We know that in days to come we shall see the real tone of the usual pdp response style. Anyway it’s minus one for pdp.
    Change has come.

    • taiwo

You are surprised because you are not used to such decorum from your party spokesman right?,well iv got news for you,Mr Metuh is too intelligent and cultured to sound like your Liar Mohammed and despite the fact that every Nigerian knows Obasanjo for who he really is and are disappointed that such a man given such an opportunity of a lifetime by GOD to better Nigeria ended up being such a huge disappointment PDP being a national party still employed decorum in saying bye bye to him.Compare these with the response from Liar Mohammed when Ikimi and Sheriff left the APC and tell me which of the two parties should be in power

  • burning spear

Good riddance to bad rubbish–he finally disgraced himself out of the party–even a toddler will think twice before embarking on such satanic acts-destroying the card of the party–that is madness of the highest order—–this was the party that released u from the jaws of death–having been sentenced to die via a firing squad—while Buhari was with abacha–he did not put in words for Obj–having been released–to become the president of Nigeria-This is how to pay back—–what will u in your right senses want to give back to the party–that is for a man who was elected in place of great minds like late Gani—-PDP is off without Obj—–he it was who was instrumental to the movement of the Fulani governors from the party to APC-

  • taiwo

OBASANJO is not a saint but he had cautioned how president on several Occasion. Jonathan choose to be a wicked man, clueless and be deceived by evil men around him, He could have be the best president as a shoeless man from Oteuke .He could have be an icon like the late Nelson Mandala. But wait.. WHO SAY PDP won’t miss Obasanjo?? PDP Foundation is shaky and infact Broken. Is it your remaining corrupted elders like Anenih, Bode d prisoner n the drug dealer Kasunmu that want to pioneer the remains of your ruin.

AMERICAN MEDIA JOIN MILLIONS OF NIGERIANS IN CONDEMNING GOODLOCK JONOTHING.
Jonathan’s failure brightens Buhari’s chances -New York Times

President Goodluck Jonathan’s dismal performance in the last six years has brightened his opponent Muhammadu Buhari’s chances in next month presidential poll, the New York Times newspaper said.

The US-based international publication said in its editorial Monday entitled “Nigeria’s miserable choices” that Jonathan’s poor record has helped a lot in soaring Buhari’s ‎appeal among Nigerians.

The March 28 presidential election “presented voters with the dispiriting choice of keeping a lousy incumbent or returning to power a former autocratic leader,” the newspaper said.‎‎‎

The newspaper editorial said, that Buhari “has emerged as potential winner is more of an indictment of Mr. Jonathan’s dismal rule than a recognition of the former military chief’s appeal.”

‎On the postponement of the polls, the New York Times said “any argument to delay the vote might be more credible if President Goodluck Jonathan’s government had not spent much of the past year playing down the threat posed by the militants and if there were a reasonable expectation that the country’s weak military has the ability to improve security in a matter of weeks.”

It said that “it appears more likely Mr. Jonathan grew alarmed by the surging appeal of Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler who has vowed to crack down on Boko Haram.”

By dragging out the race, Mr. Jonathan stands to deplete his rival’s campaign coffers, while he continues to use state funds and institutions to bankroll his own, the publication sai‎d.

The abductions and attacks by the group have exposed the weaknesses of Nigeria’s armed forces and the dysfunction of the government, the newspaper said.

“Although Mr. Jonathan’s government has in the past been less than enthusiastic, and at times obstructive, in response to offers of American and European aid, he appears to be growing increasingly worried,” the editorial said.

Under Jonathan’s rule, beyond insecurity, entrenched corruption and the government’s inability to diversify its economy as the price of oil crumbles “also caused Nigerians to look for new leadership,” the newspaper said.

The newspaper concluded that though Nigeria cannot afford an electoral crisis, “the security forces may not be able to safeguard many districts on Election Day. But postponement is very likely to make the security threat worse.”

If the PDP cannot phantom the kind of provocation that led a former President to publicly tear his membership card and dump the party, let me borrow your brains and string it together real quick… Baba Iyabo wrote his letter over a year ago complaining about a wanted drug baron being made a leader of the PDP in his backyard in Ogun State. What did Dumbo do to redress that? Nada! Instead, calamity Jona poured salt to OBJ’s injured ego by calling an elder statesman a “motor park tout”. Can Dumbo call Edwin Clark a tout regardless the provocation, talk true? Baba complained about Dumbo lying to him about serving only one term, just as the Otuoke deceitful crook lied to Sen John Kerry about elections holding as scheduled, he arm-twisted INEC with security blackmail into postponing the elections. OBJ cited these two major provocations as his grouse in the UK even before returning to Nigeria for an appraisal of what went on in the shadowy world of the PDP. Again, the PDP let loose their junkyard dogs like FFK, Fayosi, Okupe et al, to assassinate the character of an internationally respected old warlord and African hero, Baba! Today, their BoT Chairman even joined in the fray and here’s bald-headed Olisa Metuh saying, “Many Nigerians are still bewildered as to what manner of provocation could have led a former President to lose his composure and go to the extent of tearing the membership card of the party that he once led…. hugely at loss” Loss ke? Nobody but the PDP is hugely at loss of Baba Iyabo, biko. The way you make your bed is how how you’re going to sleep on it before elections… Sweet Dreams, PDP!

They said Buhari will take us back if elected President! Nigerians say it’s a good decision to go back when you’ve lost your way on a 16yrs PDP journey where our destination as a nation is no longer visible. Please, Buhari, take us back to the era where:
    1. One Dollar was less than one Naira. It is incredible today!
    2. Everything was on first come first serve basis.
    3. There was zero tolerance for corruption.
    4. Oil refineries in PortHarcourt, Warri & Kaduna were built & running at full capacity.
    5. Anybody with questionable wealth was afraid to display it in public.
    6. There was Zero tolerance for indiscipline. Everything was in order
    7. Nigeria had no debt at all.
    8. Neglecting your children was a crime
    9. Littering the public place was a crime
    10. Twenty oil depots were built and functioning.
11 Western world can’t interfere into our nation.
    12. Chad invaded Nigeria, we sent them packing but did not harness their Land
    13. Our economy was NOT running on generator
    14. We can sleep with our eyes closed because we were secured.
    15. Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia need not to set example on how to deal with drug pushers. 16. The Maitaseine Islamic Sect insurgency in the North was crushed on record time. 17. We want those days when Buhari was a military Governor but did not amass illegal wealth. 18. We want those days when Buhari was a Minister of Petroleum but did not hire a private jet for N10 billion. 19. We want those days when Buhari was a Head of State but did not loot the Treasury. 20. We want those days when Buhari was Head of PTF but did not steal the Fund even in the days of Abacha when stealing was the order of the day.
Pls, Buhari & Osinbajo, take us BACK! We can’t afford another 4yrs of waste in the hands of PDP!!! Take us BACK to the good old days of this our great nation.

      Wicked Old Liar, Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari’s lies is now annoying. Nigerians though that he will change with age, but we were wrong. The older he became the worse.
1] I used bank loan to build my House in Abuja.
2] I used Bank Loan to Build my 2 Houses in Kaduna
3] I used Bank Loan to Build my House in Katsina
4] I used Bank Loan to Build my house in Daura.
5] With All these houses, close to 2011 election, Buhari told Nigerians that he was kicked out of his Abuja rented House.
What a manner of a liars is Buhari.
6] In 2003, Buhari declared affidavit that he has 150 cows.
7] In 2007, Buhari declared again that he has 150 cows.
8] In 2011, Buhari declared that his cows are 150 in number.
9] In 2014, the religious Bigot said that he still have 150 cows.
10] Buhari claimed building our Refineries, another Hot lies.
The truth is that there is no Project in Nigeria than can be associated to Buhari being in power. He did not even build a Nursery school anywhere in Nigeria. As a school drop-out, Education is not his priority.
A man that have nothing, will give nothing. ‪#‎BeWise‬.

Most liars are smart, but regrettably, we have a confused dumb head as the Presidential candidate of the Nigerian first Islamic party, the APC.

I think any progressive, decent and sensible human being will definitely buy what you’ve said……Buhari the kwarraption killer, that’s the fear, let’s not beat around the Bush let’s beat the bush. They’ve stolen so much and want to hold 180 million people ransom because of their fear, shegun banza…..of prosecution. There are more educated Nigerians now than at the time of Independence till even 1999, a child born when Obasanjo became president is 16 today and more educated and exposed than some of us were. Cell phones, Internet, DSTV all came after 1999 and is much accessible to a great majority, so this local or divisive village politics of lies and deceit won’t work at all. Real issues matter cos people can see what’s going on around the world. Game over!!! CHANGE

        <Dear General Muhammadu Buhari,

Did you commit perjury or not by filling out the Army Form number 199A
shortly after 18th October, 1961, wherein you intentionally but falsely
wrote that you had obtained specific credits in English, Geography,
History, and, Hausa (with a pass in English Literature)?

When, in fact, you had not sat for WAEC examination as of that date
or at any time provable afterwards, which (inferred) perjury was compounded
by the affidavit you swore in the year 2014, stating on oath you sat for WAEC

‪#‎BeWise‬.–WHAT A SHAME

    • Tunsj

I couldn’t agree more. You said it all.

  • Gerald Okoduwa

The contradictions between this statement, the one by the Ogun State chapter of the PDP and the earlier reaction of the party’s BoT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih has clearly shown what the ruling party has become – a crumbling house of commotion. Are these the ones to take Nigeria to vision 20-2020? Obasanjo may have his weaknesses, but he has through many of his recent actions demonstrated repentance for superimposing a wrong leadership material on Nigerians. How a man stands in the present is what counts, not how he stood yesterday or how he wishes to stand tomorrow. It takes greatness to publicly admit errors with strong willingness to make amends. How many of our past leaders have ever owned up to errors? It is noteworthy that till date, General Babangida has refused to apologize to Nigerians for annulling an election considered to be the most credible in Nigeria’s history which would have taken Nigeria to the world stage in socio-economic advancement. The PDP should honorably bow to the will of the people now and proceed on a sober strategic schooling for a possible future re-emergence. If they continue in their present take-it-or-kill-it posture, the party might as well count on its annihilation and extinction.

“Under the watch of Goodluck Jonathan, government has become legalised and protected robbery.
Before the presidential election in 2011, Jonathan surreptitiously invited Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu,
lifting him at night by presidential aircraft from Lagos to Abuja to hatch a plan for Bola Tinubu
to support one PDP presidential candidate (Jonathan), at the expense of all PDP candidates
for any office in Lagos state.

If in the past corruption was in the corridors of power, it would seem now to be in the sitting room,
dining room and bedroom of power. Whatever amount of money was given to Bola Tinubu to procure
votes for (PDP) in the 2011 presidential election election in Lagos state was, to say the least,
unnecessary. What made this phenomenon particularly bad was that government had raised
the money from government transactions which fuel corruption.”

The first salvo fired by President Olusegun Obasanjo in his well publicized war against corruption on his inauguration on 29th May 1999 was the revocation of all contracts awarded between January to April 1999 by his immediate predecessor, Genera! Abdulsalam Abubakar, on the allegation that all those contracts were hurriedly and dubiously awarded. To most observers this action was proof enough of the seriousness of the new president in this promise to prosecute a war against corruption in which there would be no sacred cows and his resolve to confront all culprits irrespective of their status. How else could one interpret this move considering the crucial role played by General Abdulsalam in releasing Chief Obasanjo from jail and pardoning him of the conviction of coup plot against Abacha’s government and making his election as president possible.

      • burning spear

his ‘act of courage’ soon revealed itself as a ruse. The sinister motive soon manifested. It was, as it tuned out, not aimed at sanitizing the system but the first act of sleaze shrouded in messianic garb, soon to become the hallmark of the Obasanjo anti corruption and other administrative policies. Most of these contracts were later reviewed upwards and re-awarded to some of the same companies after they might have paid bribes. Not many Nigerians are aware that the mysterious N700 Million which Obasanjo entrusted to his estranged friend Chief Otunba Fasawe and which was revealed at the PTDF Senate probe was probably part of the proceeds from this scam.

T.Y DANJUMA BOMBING GOODLOCK JONOTHING AGAIN.
WHY JONATHAN WILL LOSE SECOND TERM
    ELECTION…T Y DANJUMA.

Former Defense Minister, General Theophilus Danjuma yesterday listed reasons why Jonathan will lose t…he fast approaching presidential election to opposition APC. The General while speaking with journalists said Jonathan is rewarding crime and encouraging more people to go into it. He said the recent statements credited to former militants that they will wage war against Nigeria should the President lose shows that Nigeria is being run by an incompetent person.

Danjuma is surprised at why the DSS is yet to arrest these disgruntled elements but quick to vandalize the opposition office for no just cause.

Danjuma further said another reason why Jonathan stands no chance in thein the forth coming election is his handling of the South West region of thecountry.

Danjuma said the Yorubas are intelligent people and you don’t use and dump them and that is exactly what the President did. The Yorubas voted for him overwhelmingly but the President paid them back with neglect. Instead the President is busy promoting criminals in their region. Look at Buruji a drug baron, Fayose and one Omisore who are criminals. These people are being promoted over the Yoruba intelligentsia. All these will not make them trust him any more. According to Danjuma the Yoruba in Nigeria were the only nation that found in the north, west and Niger delta. He also stated that historically Britain choose Lagos a Yoruba land to be the National capital of Nigeria was not just a choice made but the real ability and civilization of the Yoruba that led to that.

I see him losing this election massively Danjuma concluded.

Threats by former Abia State Governor Chief Orji Uzor Kalu to make Nigeria ungovernable if the Federal Government or its anti corruption agencies continue to investigate and prosecute former Governors while former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his ministers are not subjected to the same treatment may appear to many as empty threat or blackmail but I honestly share Orji Kalu’s concern, even if I don’t endorse his threat. I also believe that the war against corruption will continue to be ineffective and will actually be meaningless when only a small segment of former public servants are targeted as was the case in Obasanjo’s selective war against corruption. There is no doubt that many of the former chief executives have cases to answer for the gross abuse of their offices and they have to be called to account. They cannot use, as their defence, the argument that “we are not alone” in such abuses. The message of Orji Kalu is that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. After all, the Obasanjo presidency, where over 56% of the corruption allegedly took place, controlled 52% of the nation’s revenue.

Nigeria is a mono-product (crude oil) economy. It naturally and mandatory follows that if the crude oil price goes up the Naira value will appreciate, if it goes down the Naira will depreciate. Obasanjo throughout his 8 years in office never did anything to diversify our economy. It is plain mischief to incite Nigerians against Jonathan for the fallen world oil market.

Every call for the support of PDP by anyone at this crucial period in our nation, is either greed propelled or as we are in Nigeria can clearly see Jonathan’s and PDP’s support is now most commonly ethnically and tribalistically propelled ; only a bigot will want to be part of such a circus.

    • God help Nigeria

I refuse to be convinced by Obasanjo that the thing that brought him, Obasanjo, Atiku, Buhari and Tinubu – totally strange bedfellows – together against Jonathan, is in the best interest of Nigeria.

OBJ is a man in love with publicity and political relevance and the best way to engender this, at this juncture, is, creatively, via controversy and traducing. In the Art of Nigerian Political Seduction the two are siamese, but the latter has lately been found more effective. A few example of successful ones who have utilized those methods have been Adams Oshiomole, FFK and Reuben Abati. Apply them only if you are a genius of some kind especially if you have oratory prowess, a rare history of ability fix things (like Anenih et al) etc.

In the Act I, Scene I of this intriguing and suspense-filled reality show written and directed by OBJ who is also the lead actor, his debut yesterday was meant to make him the most wooed political bride this election season. Since the news broke out yesterday of OBJ’s exit from PDP, the APC and PDP camps have held series of strategizing meetings, having established OBJ’s mammoth political importance, craft, pranks, unpredictability, and other tricks. In the forth-coming scene, the bride OBJ will be seen giving his condition to APC/PDP. Waiting in the wings now, he smiles to himself. He is on a safe ground now; he has by his various acts especially that of yesterday, been able to deal with one of his worst phobia which has been Buhari (a Phobia that he shares with IBB and other ‘bad elements’).That monster of a man! Now even if he wins, he (OBJ) will very likely be forgiven for ‘sins of the past’. In the wings, thanking his maker for the gift of political sleight of hand, he dips his thick, flat, vulture-nailed, left palm into the deeeeep pocket of his agbada, selecting the biggest kola nut, chewing a big lump, his face transforming into an ugly picture of a smiley sketched by a 9 year old poor-in-fine-art girl. In his smile, he wonders how gullible and impressionable the masses can be, pitying them; if only these spectators have been backstage, they would have seen how the cat got into the hat.

We the youths of Nigeria hereby call on Mr President to as a matter of urgency quickly cease to thread on this path of turning the other cheek for slaps to rain on him and say enough is enough. He should start by telling us what really Obj wants from him and also what the ex generals fighting him with boko haram and propaganda really want from him.Nigerians need to know the real issues they are fighting for because some of our gullible youths are being taken in by their fake chants of change while not realising that the change they are talking about has absolutely nothing to do with them.MR PRESIDENT NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK,WE THE YOUTHS ARE STRONGLY BEHIND YOU OR DID’T YOU NOTICED THAT DESPITE THEIR NOISE MAKING ABOUT THE ELECTION POSTPONEMENT AND THREATS TO RIOT THAT THE ELECTION WAS POSTPONED AND NO ONE HEEDED THEIR CALL TO DEMONSTRATE. PLS USE YOUR POWERS AS THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY AND ARREST AND TRY THESE EVIL MEN FOR THE VARIOUS OFFENCES THEY HAVE COMMITTED AGAINST NIGERIA AT LEAST THAT WAY THEY WON”T HAVE THE TIME TO GALLIVANT AROUND SEEKING TO SEIZE POWER AND RETURN US TO EGYPT.THIS COUNTRY MUST MOVE FORWARD

…….Olisa Metuh, the PDP said it was “saddened” by Mr. Obasanjo’s departure, and lamented the party’s inability to pacify the former president after several pleas. This is completely different from what Fani Kayode, Anenih, Olabode George, Fayose and Abati said about the forme President. OBJ does not need PDP or any political party. It is PDP that lost a member and yet some idiots are abusing the old man. Jonathan has demostrated lack of memory because it is only animal that forgets the past so easily.

    • taiwo

it is that lack of memory that made you guys belief Nigerians have forgotten about how Buhari brutalised his fellow countrymen and now wants to enjoy the same democracy he truncated.Don’t worry we are waiting for the 28th,this time the rejection will be more massive than the ones of before and you guys without PVCs making noise online in exchange for crumbs from Liar Moahmmed will go back to your yahoo yahoo job of duping unsuspecting old ladies and collecting curses and damnation

Chief Obasanjo’s latest gimmick of wanting to be branded an elder statesman instead of being called a politician is one of the comic reliefs of our present political consciousness.

The raw truth in this matter is this: Chief Obasanjo was only attempting to avoid a possible censor by the PDP for his many anti-party activities…He also knows that the APC is not a welcome zone for him considering the many culprits of his “political meanness” that are currently holding sway in that party.

Also, his penchant for wanting to rule others by proxy is a bit old-fashioned…at least it is not going to work either way: Jonathan no longer runs his brief, neither will Buhari, Tinubu, Ngige, Atiku, Audu Ogbeh etc. of the APC intend to do that.

So, he must do more than tearing his PDP card…He must also learn how to enjoy his retirement like the other past leaders are presently doing…For the present political drumbeat requires a certain kind of dance-step which Chief Obasanjo might not want to engage in, if he really loves to wear that toga of an “elder statesman.” May God bless Nigeria.

  • taiwo

I heard this new prayer point,” pray that every Obasanjo in your life will tear their membership cards”.

It’s certainly well with Nigeria. The prayers of ordinary Nigerians who prayed for God to free this nation from the hands of the cabals who held it down for decades is beginning to manifest. Praise be to almighty God!

Nigeria’s military is a shame to decency & reasoning. Court of Appeal yesterday lambasted it for its shameful role in the Ekiti elections and forbade the military from ever doing so again.
OBJ fought the civil war and the military of that era won. OBJ received the instrument of surrender from Biafra, led the nation as a Military Head of State and C-in-C and later as a 2 term President and C-in-C. He conducted a smooth election within 3 years and handed over power to Shagari.
When did the Military lose its pride and honour?
OBJ is the only Nigerian President that U.S. Presidents ask truthfully about Nigeria.
Even Jimmy Carter is his friend. He alone they know.
Under GEJ, our entire military including the DHQ needed Chad and Niger Republic to flush out insurgents and Cameroun is busy repelling the insurgents from our border villages.
Today’s soldiers are on Ikorodu road using koboko on bus conductors and abusing GEJ’s opponents.
GEJ military cannot rout out party thugs at elections and asked for a 6 weeks extension. Now this is the 2nd week. What has changed?

They now abuse a 4 star general whose achievements are unequalled in the history of the military in this country.
Or did the statement come from the DHQ of Boys Scout?
    Mchew!! Second base jare.

    • taiwo

Now you are abusing the military,i wonder which people you guys are planning on ruling honestly because the way you all sound it seems that your gameplan actually is to distabilize this country as has been rumoured to be the intention of the US because we refused to do gay stuff.Heard Buhari is gay i wonder if that is why you guys support
him.You gay too?,you can tell me in confidence so i help you seek help because our dear nation must progress despite your shenanigans

    • Etomi

To understand you correctly, none of Obasanjo’s actions should not be questioned, because he is the greatest Nigerian that ever liveth…
Put differently, Obasanjo could do no wrong, or Obasanjo is beyond reproach simply because of his inimitable achievements!
Hence Obasanjo is free to do as he chooses, after-all he has achieved what no other Nigerian has ever accomplished or could possibly ever achieve!
Here is a man who was sentenced to death on charges of plotting a coup against Gen. Abacha, and was catching his last breath in jail when IBB engineered his release…
With a bank account then worth only N20, 000, Obasanjo was nobody when IBB brought out the condemned criminal from jailed, loaded his yawning account with cash and convinced the leadership of the PDP to make him the party’s presidential candidate in 1999….
A sorry reject of Yorubaland then under the vice-grip of Alliance for Democracy (AD), it was a party that then had no presence in Yorubaland, i.e. PDP, that furnished him platform to arise from the dead…
Yorubaman Obasanjo became president not by even merest Yoruba vote but by votes from SE/SS/NC/NW!
That same man—who not his people but other tribes in Nigeria made who he is today—could wax an ingrate as he fancies and for which he now enjoys the approbation of Yoruba people despite his indecorum and lawlessness….
Little wonder Obasanjo’s notorious incestuous dealings is hailed as the mark of greatness by Yoruba people…
No decorum should be expected of greatness…right?
No civility should be expected from greatness…right?
      Greatness brooks no moral boundaries….right?
OBASANJO IS NOTHING BUT A MOTOR-PARK TOUT; AND NOT EVEN THE HIGH STATUS HE HAS REACHED IN LIFE HAS RUBBED OFF ON HIS VERY ESSENCE AS AN ENTITY FROM THE GUTTERS!!!!

The most ungrateful creature In this planet is president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. No matter what, God used baba Iyabo to achieve your dream. From shoeless to the president of the most populous Black country in this universe. I remember in late 2006 when Ribadu named you as one of corrupt governors and your wife under EFCC investigation for money laundering, tt was baba Iyabo who stood by you. Most Nigerians did not want you then to be Yar Adua’s running mate. Also, in 2010 it was this OBJ who got you out of Yar Adua’s wife (Turia) and her cabals humiliation. All these your new found friends (cronies) like Edwin Clark, Asari Dokubo, Alison Maduekwe, Okonjo Iweala, Aneneh, Abati, Okupe, Fani-Kayode, Buruji Kashamu, Bode George, etc… these are your enemies not friends. Nigeria’s Humpty-Dumpty has a great fall

Joy filled the land, and the people rejoice, as if a pestilence is is got rid of.
A crass fellow goes a sorrowing all alone for failing to live up to the creed.
His abettors, now without their epaulettes, bow their heads down in contrition.
As a misfit without much schooling is defenestrated from the decisional villa.
But he jumped before he was pushed to carry his corrupt influenza to his abode.

Now, the nation is free from a charlatan who’s self-described as “statesman” –
a title he gave to himself without having sensible political thought for posterity.
The rest of the world now feels relieved to be rid of an anopheles on the scrotum.
As Nigeria’s Humpty-Dumpty has a great fall, but the nation does not grieve but hiss.
Goodbye, Nigeria’s crass man, may your type not come back again, forever, again!

  • taiwo

Obasanjo is now a mad man, behaving like his late father (Igwe Onyejekwe of Onitsha). He tried to control the Government of GEJ and failed woefully. Master of corruption. Obasanjo is now busy dancing naked in the public. GEJ ALL THE WAY!!

  • Obasanjo remains the greatest asset of the PDP till date. All GEJ had been doing within the last six years have been embellishments of all what Obasanjo administration started while in collaboration with Diezani, who has appointed and sacked 5NNPC MD’s in 5years, concentrated on looting the nation dry through income diversion and crude oil sales. Given their occupation of the National Income pipe, they allowed their PDP goons a widespread space for internal corruption and looting.
OBJ’s PDP gave Nigeria GSM and brought telephone for the poor that was previously for the rich according to David Mark in the early 90s, OBJ structured the payment of our national debts in excess of $45billion from the little average crude Oil prices of less than $80 per barrel, even when crude prices fell to $9.00 per barrel during the OBJ’s administration, our exchange rate was not affected negatively, OBJ introduced EFCC, Improved Nigeria’s International image after the killing of Saro Wiwa, made fuel available without subsidy corruption, Started the commercialisation of Nepa to PHCN and paid 25% funds out of the fake $16billion scam through Dr Iweala which was now commissioned by GEJ as his project, started the Cassava for bread initiative and other agric projects and the reactivation of the Rails, created massive employment in banking communication, gas, oil manufacturing etc, gave Nigeria a vibrant middle class with improved banking with car leases and other structured products and the capital market prior to the global depression which was better managed by Professor Soludo, dealt with the Sharia riots with wisdom which eventually showed the foolishness of its Northern sponsors and many others.
OBJ singularly supported GEJ to be President when the Northerners wanted to deprive him of the position while Chief Anenih and all the present PDP backers and GEJ himself ran for cover when the military brought Yaradua back in the NIGHT. OBJ single-handedly used his money to visit Saudi Arabia to see the incapacitated Yaradua and confronted the North and supported that Nigeria can only be one when individuals from every zone, could have access to the number one position in the land. OBJ’s fight with GEJ is due to the unpardonable looting by the GEJ group.
We must give credit to GEJ for building and extending on OBJ’s programmes with the relative application of his education. This the Northern cabal wanted to work against, through the instigation of Yaradua to rubbish Baba OBJ’s programmes. GEJ did more with the Nigerianisation of the oil sector. Most of his partially successful programmes such as roads, bridges and health were by SureP which came about as a result of the subsidy riot. One is then tempted to ask the Ministers, what their yearly budgets were expended upon and Diezani about the 3 refineries she promised will be on stream in three years. Stealing and Corruption Incorporated while their is massive poverty and unemployment in the land, youth induced crime
OBJ tried his best to assist GEJ but the latter had greed on his mind. OBJ singularly went to meet the family of the Boko Haram leader at the risk of his life and later advised GEJ, knowing fully well that GEJ’s failure will be ascribed to him. GEJ responded that he is not a General or King David when Baba warned him to deal decisively with Boko Haram, at their initial stages. Baba also talked about the official stealing of crude and the diversion of our national patrimony. GEJ and his cohorts came out to abuse the old man. Nigerians have now vindicated OBJ with the very terrible state of the Government finances with exchange rate as high as N213 to a US dollar from N155 within 3 months.
In one of our discussions with a Nigerian Brigadier General in New York, he postulated that the present military is different from the military of the 80s and 90s. The reason he gave is that the youthful soldiers are all on the internet and that when he sent one his junior orderlies to sensitise on their refusal to confront Boko Haram. The Orderly was told that the Soldier boys were not ready to fight for a country with such official leadership stealing and looting.
In sum, GEJ’s second term would have been a cup of tea had GEJ capitalised on his Goodwill by working genuinely for the Nigerian people. A million OBJ’s would not have been able to stop him for a second term. GEJ has a right to change his mind if he had performed and not looted.
The APC is a not better in terms of corruption because corruption is corruption whatever the guise since they say theirs was restricted to percentages on projects. Tinubu’s is more scientific as he does contracts with his Governments and also earns professional fees on his tax services. This is however much better than stealing from the National income like our Ogas at the TOP.
The APC heard the yearnings of the masses and was smart enough and discovered that the only way to reach Nigerians was to look for that hard incorruptible Nigerian in the person of a Buhari to save the nation. Buhari is like a Tiger when corruption is involved because he could end up eating any of his riders. Even OBJ acknowledged it to some people that he does not believe that Buhari would not arrest him if he should cross the corruption line. OBJ tore his card to remove the PDP leprosy mark on his body.PDP is therefore finished even GEJ knows it himself.
In sum, when Nigeria had Global problems in 1999, a General in the person of OBJ was brought out from prison to rescue Nigeria. Nigeria today is on the brink and Nigeria needs an incorruptible General before corruption kills the nation and the exchange rate rises top N1,000 to one US dollar. Had Idiagbon being alive today, there would have been no Buhari.

WHAT WENT WRONG WITH GOODLUCK JONATHAN?

Does President Goodluck Jonathan spare private moments to think alone?
It is not obvious. In five years he’s acquired reputational infamy all by himself.
He’s so written off in international media as useless, dismal, lazy and clueless.
He needs introspection to know how and why these awful results came about.

He’ll first need get rid of the mercenaries he calls friends, assistants and aides.
They, more than anyone else, brought down his initially promising government.
That done, he’ll need head-hunt new associates immune to greed, lure and thefts.
With those first steps he’ll have a fighting chance of a 360° degree turn-around of
