Jonathan planning “Gbagbo treatment” for Nigeria — Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said that President Goodluck Jonathan may be working towards a controversial poll and possibly, exit from office, the same way former Ivorian president, Laurent Gbagbo, did in his country.

Mr. Obasanjo, who said this during an interview with journalists at his Presidential Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, advised Mr. Jonathan not to destroy his name for selfish reasons.

He also cautioned the President to do away with the phobia of the possibility of being dealt with by his successor after leaving office, and be weary of those surrounding him as the same set of people will deny him when the chips are down.

Speaking further in the interview which lasted for 45 minutes, the former President said the sudden postponement of general elections was uncalled for, stressing that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Attahiru Jega, was forced to do so.

“The observable and what would appear to be happening is that the president has a grand plan, a grand plan to ensure that by hook or by crook, he wins the election or if it all fails, they scuttle it and create chaos, confusion and unpleasantness in the whole country,” Mr. Obasanjo said.

“It is the duty and function and responsibility of the security officers to provide security. The President is the Chief Security of the country and he is the Commander-in-Chief and if security is required anywhere anytime, it is his duty to provide it, failure to provide it, is dereliction of duty, pure and simple.

“Either the President, following his own grand plan, or his aides and associates, are working a script. They are playing a script which must not got his endorsement if not initiated from him.

“It looks to me ithat the President is trying to playing Gbagbo. Gbagbo was the former President of Cote d’Ivoire and Gbagbo made sure he postponed the election in his country until he was sure he would win and then allowed the election to take place. He got an inconclusive election in the first ballot and I believe this is the sort of thing Nigeria may fall into if I am right in what I observed as the grand plan and then in the run-off, Gbagbo lost with 8 per cent behind Ouattara and then refused to hand over.

“All reasonable persuasion and pleading was rebuffed by him and he unleashed horror in that country until nemesis caught up with him. I believe that we may be seeing the repeat of Gbabgo or what I called Gbagbo saga here in Nigeria, I hope not,” Mr. Obasanjo emphasised.

On the excuse given by Security Chiefs that they cannot guarantee adequate security during election, Mr. Obasanjo said it was disappointing adding that the he thinks the military might have been forced to make that excuse.

“That’s what I said it was strange to me, it wasn’t the duty and responsibility of Security Chiefs and Service Chiefs to tell INEC, ‘we are not in the position to provide security for you’ because it is their job, when they have failed, they can as well go home. Their job is to maintain law and order and provide security and at any time, at any place, they said they cannot do it, they have failed.

“I want to believe that this was forced on them. I want to believe that, but whether it was forced on them or it was there initiative, it was bad, very bad. I hope we will never‎ have a bit performance of this in this country again because the unfortunate thing is this, it is over-exposing themselves or they are being over-exposed by whoever brought about that way of doing things and for me, a monumentous decision like that cannot be taken and implemented by Security Chiefs”.

“It was even made worst when the President in the media chat on the 11th of this month claimed not to have knowledge or not to have authorized it. I get worried, very worried that if the President of Nigeria is not in-charge of security, maintenance of law and order and such a decision can be taken behind him, assuming that is true, then the President must be reigning and not ruling and then who are the shadow figures that are ruling us? It means that one day we will find out this country would be plunged into chaos, into commotion, into confusion and the President would say, ‘I do not know about it’. Of course, the President can run but he cannot run past God”.

On speculation that Mr. Jonathan is afraid that he will not be re-elected, Mr. Obasanjo said he believes the President’s is not afraid of life after office.

“I believe the President’s concern of fear is not life out of office per se, because he and I have had occasions to talk about this, both seriously and jovially. ‎I believe the President would want an opportunity to disengage peacefully and have a nice, descent and a glorious exit”.

“I believe the President’s fear is particularly motivated by who he sees as his likely successor, that is General Buhari.

“I believe people would have been telling him that Buhari is a hard man, he would fight corruption and you may end up in jail if not in grave. I believe people must have told him all sort of things and he is not the only one, there are other people who may be afraid of Buhari, but why?”

“I don’t think the President is afraid of being out, there’s life after Aso Villa. It may depend of course, to a large extent how his exit takes place. Because out there in the International World, there’s so much need for the wisdom and experience of people who have done it before, they also want people who are creditable and credible,” Mr. Obasanjo said.

“Again and I appeal to President Jonathan again not to listen to those who are creating phobia – phobia of Buhari, phobia of enquiry and all that. President Jonathan has done well to the best of his ability and he has made history as the first elected Nigerian from a minority tribe and nobody can take that away from him. He can even make a second history, if it turns out that way, if he contests a fair, free and transparent election and if he loses to have a dignified descent and a dignified exit. He will be in the mountain top and he would be acclaimed as a true patriot and a true democrat, what stops him from doing this?”

Fool,Buhari does not need to win all the southern states. And how you you think Jonathan can win all the 19th northern state if that is the case. All these un-educated people that just come to net to say something. All the winner need to is to get 2/3 in 24 states and have the highest number of votes.Meanwhile, not that Buhari have the required school certificate. It is your brother{Jonathan’s} men in the military that removed is certifcate from his file but thank God,he has gotten the original from his former school.Buhari is over required educationally. He has equivalent of masters degree if you know what his educational qualification in the military is.Your brother Jonathan know he is incapable of ruling the country. It is those his corrupt friends that pushing him so that Buhari will not jail and recover the money they have stole. They can no longer save him because Nigerian are ready to vote him out.Postponing the election will not save him.

Baba has echoed what we’ve all been saying is the reason for the postponement of the elections in the first place: The fear of the inevitable defeat. Dumbo claimed he was not consulted before Prof. Jega was arm-twisted into postponing the elections, in that case, he stands accused of “dereliction of duties” as the C-in-C before ordinarily, NSA Sambo reports directly to Dr. Dumbo. The fear of a Buhari-led Govt. goes beyond Calamity Jona, it has gripped the likes of Diezani because Buhari has said he will find our missing $20bn; panicked Sambo Dasuki into writing the infamous security letter to Jega because he (Sambo) was the thug who arrested Gen. Buhari during IBB’s coup; fuel-subsidy scam artiste, kero-subsidy that late UMYA banned but was surreptiously continued at the NNPC, police pension heist, Malabu… and so on forever under crook Dumbo. Methinks, for Nigeria to obviate the need for a bloodbath bcos of foregone election results, Dr. Dumbo and his PDP thugs should negotiate a “soft landing” for themselves and agree to return our looted wealth in a South Africa-style… Fraud Recovery & National Reconciliation Panel where jumbo-looters will agree to refund our dough in exchange for their freedom. Shikena!

    • King Carlos

That’s a good idea though. They’re too scared of a Buhari presidency and that’s what Nigerians want.

    • progress

The best analysis cum advisory, I hope they take the right decision before it becomes too late.

“Dr. Dumbo and his PDP thugs should negotiate a “soft landing” for themselves and agree to return our looted wealth in a South Africa-style… Fraud Recovery & National Reconciliation Panel where jumbo-looters will agree to refund our dough in exchange for freedom and ban from ever holding public in Nigeria”.

In my view a very fair and equitable deal, that will allow the incoming Government to concentrate on tackling the myriad of issues that will confront them on their first day of office and also funding a government stimulation of our floundering economy. Strength & Honor

You are more of an ape then him, since his concern is about the future of the country, and yours, personal enrichment.

  • Question n’ Answer

NOT ONCE IN THIS REPORTED INTERVIEW DID GENERAL OBASANJO SAY
OR IMAGINE THAT PRESIDENT JONATHAN WOULD WIN THIS RE-ELECTION.
BUT THAT IS ACTING GOD, BECAUSE OBASANJO CANNOT DECIDE FOR
NIGERIANS WHO TO VOTE FOR, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OBASANJO HAS
PUT HIMSELF OUT IN THE PUBLIC AS A HATER OF GOODLUCK JONATHAN.

BUT OBASANJO NOW NEEDS TO GO OUT AND CAMPAIGN IN THE 36
STATES TO INFECT 170 MILLION WITH HIS PERSONAL HATRED; AND
PERSUADE NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS TO ACCEPT BUHARI’S PLEDGE TO
ENFORCE SHARIA IN EACH AND ALL OF THE 36 STATES OF NIGERIA,
IF OBASANJO IS NOT HIMSELF ASKING A HONEST QUESTION; NAMELY:

    • Navigator

      Dear General Muhammadu Buhari,

Did you commit perjury or not by filling out the Army Form 199A,
shortly after 18th October, 1961, wherein you intentionally but falsely
wrote that you had obtained specific credits in English, Geography,
History, and, Hausa (with a pass in English Literature)?

When, in fact, you had not sat for WAEC examination as of that date
or at any time provable afterwards, which (inferred) perjury was compounded
by the affidavit you swore in the year 2014, stating on oath you sat for WAEC
exam in 1961 and got WASC certificate; being a false statement tantamount
to perjury – insofar as you had not sat for WAEC or obtained any score by then?

      • A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if he has
presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Get your facts right,GMB did not present any certificate to INEC.Then give up this idea of certificate. PDP is only playing to the gallery with it and they know it. Get out there and campaign for GEJ if you want him to win and stop propagating the internet with uniformed propaganda!

  • Chidi Ngoka

We have heard too much from this OBJ . Hr has made his preference quite clear and he has only one vote Could he please be quiet for a second so other past leaders can weigh in on this discussion why is he so scared of a GEJ winning a second term .

    • Omoagunmate

Yo, no one is scared of GEJ willing anything because even you know he is not going to win. If he has ears, he should listen to OBJ and not fools like you.

Did anybody notice Mr. Obasanjo’s observation on President Jonathan? This the highpoint of that incisive view. Obasanjo said and I quote: “President Jonathan has done well to the BEST OF HIS ABILITY…” Nothing can be further from the truth. That is another way of saying “Look my country men and women, I know this man called Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, he cannot do more than this… all the ineptitude, incompetence, corruption, mental and intellectual laziness, moronic attitudes etc you see around him are normal and consistent with his LIMITED ability… his ABILITY is LIMITED… so what you see is all President Jonathan can offer…” That is vintage OBJ-Baba Iyabo- You may not like him as I am extremely critical of Mr. Obasanjo but he-OBJ- has a way through which he redeems the real truth. Verdict and Judgment: President Jonathan has LIMITED ABILITY. He cannot do more than he has done. He needs to leave honorably with out votes. Peace, Love, Joy and Unity always. One People, One Country Under One and Same Kind and Loving God. Sai Change oyoyo. Sai Buhari oyoyo.

    • Ade

Obasanjo has refused to declare his true age and every year celebrates an age over 10 years less than his age. This has made him over the years not to mature even though he looks and walk like an old man. The best way to way to tell a person who is mature is through their speech. Gowon is by far Obasanjo’s senior in the military and academically when he speaks who can tell the weight of his words and maturity he exhibits. But Obasanjo because of his low mentality and lack of maturity rants like a little boy-only people of at his level will give consideration to his statements. He plays on the short memory of Nigerians and our desire to consume every rubbish we read in the media no matter how daft. He rants like a little baby whose seeks to draw attention of his father but the father keeps ignoring him! What he did not tell you people is that the Extraordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) that was held on 24 December 2010 in Abuja was chaired by His Excellency Goodluck Ebele JONATHAN, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State. It was this meeting that demanded the immediate and peaceful handover of power by Mr. Laurent Gbagbo to Mr. Alassane Ouattara, in accordance with the expressed wishes of the Ivorian people.

He did not also tell you people that the Ivorian people now know better that Mr. Alassane Ouattara whose wife is a white French citizen is a stooge of the France Government. That the election was in fact rigged in favor of Ouattara so that France will continue to leech on Ivory Coast!

Just as Buhari is going to be a stooge of the Northern Oligarchy and infact Osibanjo will be substituted by Tinubu to make way for a muslim-muslim ticket through the back door. The accord failed in 2011 because Bakare refused to play ball. Most probably Osibanjo may have signed a letter of resignation before Tinubu seconded him to Buhari. It is on record that Buhari is not the Northen candidate but Tinubu’s candidate just as Obasanjo was not the Yorubas candidate in 1999. There is a hidden agenda to spread Islam via Sharia Law all over Nigeria and who will be the best candidate to achieve this if not Buhari and APC. What you guys do not know is that like what happened in Egypt where the Moslem brotherhood were overthrew by the army, if APC wins (God forbid) it will give the Nigerian army an opportunity to stage a come back in order to defend the Nigeria constitution that does not allow a state religion!!!

  • David Adeniran

The dog destined for destruction will NEVER listen to the hunter’s whistle. I pray that President Jonathan is not destined for destruction and even if it is so, he will be wise enough to take step to redeem himself from that direction.

    • Awarawa

Bro, let OBJ rant. GEJ would win. OBJ knows the immense power the Nigerian president controls, he did nothing to whittle down this power a bit because it favors him then. If GEJ deploys half of his constituted powers, there would be no APC, Tinubu and OBJ and Buhari would all run away. Trust me bros.

      • eddy

It is ur likes that Obj speaks about!

      • Omoagunmate

If GEJ is so sure of victory why is he playing hide and seek with the election date? ode!

I love Obasanjo. He is a comic relief. He makes me laugh a lot.
He does not know when he’s making sense or not, he just talks.
I have read his scaremongering campaigns here and i laughed.

In Nigeria nobody is scared of President Jonathan except Obasanjo.
That is why i will vote for Jonathan. I don’t want Sharia law anyway.

So what crap is Obasanjo talking? I am Yoruba and i know 80% of
Lagosians, for example, will vote for Jonathan for the same reason.
Churches in Yorubaland have resolved to vote against the APC party.
So what nonsense is Olusegun Obasanjo spouting here in public space?

    • Omooodua

“Professor Jega of INEC is only trying to shift responsibility by saying people
opposed to Buhari’s qualification for the polls should go to court. I heard the
APC saying Buhari has been contesting election for the past 12 years,
and that nobody said anything about it, so, why now? And my answer,
in form of question is, if someone has been committing robbery and
getting away with it, the day he is caught, you are now asking,
why has he not been caught all this while? Buhari is NOT eligible.
      That is the law.”

Obasanjo scared of Jonadaft??? don’t make me laugh. You must be a comedian by profession. Listen, the only person scared of Jonathan is Jonathan himself. He is scared of his own shadow. If he is clever, he should just listen to Obasanjo and do the right thing of allowing a free and fair election and if he loses, to do so gracefully. He should not listen to those (his fathers) who are very afraid of Buhari because of their past deeds and using Jonathan to scuttle the wish of the people and by extension truncating own democracy. As for you, you made no sense whatsoever, you who see the truth and insist on rejecting it. I wonder how you sleep at night.

Both factions of the O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) have jointly

following another joint endorsement of him by all Christian Churches,
plus the separate endorsement by the Ohaneze Ndigbo in the five (5)

If Jonathan wants to tempt faith by rejecting the will of the people,he should be ready to handle the consequences of being disgraced out of office.

  • King Carlos

Hmmmmmmnn…. Baba has spoken! The best person to take leadership advice from is Obasanjo, because he has seen the good, bad and the ugly of leading Nigeria. Obasanjo knows the real intentions of palace jesters like FFK, Okupe, Akpabio and co. He has dealt with them several times. So Jonathan should listen to music.

On the other hand, I’m just wondering why we have not elected a leader like Buhari all the while, a leader that strikes fear in the mind of the corrupt. I can’t wait for a Buhari presidency, because some things will naturally take shape. Example is the Nigerian police men, which policeman go get the liver to collect bribe under Buhari?

Let’s just give him a chance. Jonathan should think about hos plans.

    • Lanre

King Carlos. Very interesting comment. Sometimes I wonder what the generational experience of some of the commentators on this site is. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful manner. Obasanjo is a loud mouth and needs to keep quiet!

First, who is a minority? The Ijaws alone are 23m peoples which is the population of Sierra Leone, Burkinafaso, Togo & Benin Republic put together. The Ijaw nation (Not even the whole of South South/Niger Delta) is 4 times the population of Norway, and far exceeds the population of Spain, sweden, Austria etc etc…and someone in his right senses will refer to the whole of the South South/Niger Delta of about 47m as a minority. This is crass talk.

    Teacher-Obasdanjo, Please, Don’t Teach Me Nonsense !

In 2003, INEC registered only 1.3 Million voters in Ogun State but when the presidential results came out, Obasanjo told us that three (3) Million people voted for him in the same Ogun State. Justice Bidwell Nsofor of the Court of Appeal saw this grand fraud and ordered a cancellation of the presidential election result from Ogun State. That was not obeyed, instead Justice Nsofor got retired.

In the same 2003, the Brass community in the South South had 100,000 registered by INEC. When the presidential election was announced, Obasanjo told the whole 100,000, without exemption, voted for him – none died and none travelled out between the time of registration and the time of voting. Obansanjo is therefore not a good example of or for electoral decency.

And let me warn my generation again: A fratricidal generation caused crisis and civil war when they were young and that their thoughtless act cost this nation over three (3) million lives lost to the civil war that that that fratricidal generation caused. Members of that fratricidal generation are now very old; some of them still do not realize the need to leave our generation alone run our own affairs; they and their civilian allies still want to drag us along to their graves. It is our patriotic duty to resist them from throwing our dear country into another chaos and civil war. They have spent their time. They should allow us enjoy and spend our own in peace.

    • kG

A man who spent tons of government money to fund a failed 3rd term bid should not be granted any publicity when he decides to unjustifiably accuse others of any deviant, devious or circuitous scheme. Obasanjo is a disgrace to himself, his family and Nigeria. A man who can sleep with anything in skirt (be it his son’s wife or his nephew’s girlfriend) should not be taken seriously by any right thinking individual. This pile of garbage (OBJ) should be castrated and incarcerated or just sent to the great beyond because he is a complete nuisance.

This man is fast becoming an embarrassing nuisance to to society. He is very uncultured for an elder statesman.

  • Ekerete Etukudo

“Well, the shift in (election) dates is as a result of necessities for cogent reasons such as the issues of security and adequate logistics for the exercise. Let me explain these by reminding you of the fact that the shared Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) was just 66 percent while the remaining 34 per cent were still to be given out and that is about 24 million eligible Nigerians. I was so sad with the way the opposition handled the development. I just can’t imagine how comfortable they are that about 24 million Nigerians were to be disenfranchised; as a matter of fact, I won’t even be comfortable with 10,000 Nigerians not to talk of 24 million. Secondly, the security chiefs declared they couldn’t guarantee security of INEC’s ad-hoc staff. How then will any sane person push for the exercise without the support of security chiefs? For these two cogent reasons, I don’t see us going for free, fair and credible elections. We still have more than three months for the handover of government; there is no need for them to be too anxious more than the umpire.” — Gani Adams

    • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Obviously, Gani Adams is more intelligent than the likes of Femi Falana, fake Prof. Itse Sagay and Ape Obasanjo.

  • John West

i thought this huge disgrace on Nigeria called obj said he will not talk again till after election, nawaaoo!, even if i am his supporter at this absurd state of his criticism i will turn my back on him because it is now obvious that he must have been a serial visitor to psychiatric hospital

    • John

Who is a disgrace now? you or Obj?
you are the disgrace to Nigeria, since you cannot differentiate between truth and falsehood.

  • Maitama Tambari

The web is full of PDP paid Agents who cannot tell the truth from falsehood. OBJ said it that when the chips are down all of the false friends of GEJ would disappear into thin air and leave GEJ to confront his trouble. Change is coming as a hurricane wind to Nigeria by 28-03-15, God Willing. CHANGE! Yes we can.

  • Ogom

“.. one day we will find out this country would be plunged into chaos, into commotion, into confusion and the President would say, ‘I do not know about it'”

    We’re already there

  • MC

OBJ, pls leave Nigeria alone jor. You have yet to explain the whereabout of the 15 billion dollars meant for power that grew wings and flew into the blues during your tenure. Ape in human skin!

    • James Breen

Two observations I would make. One is that there is not one previous president of Nigeria who has covered himself with glory. All the people slating Jonathan for his inefficiencies forget one thing. Yes he has made mistakes, but none more than any of his predecessors. The second observation is that so many people on this site cannot debate maturely, without descending to personal insults.

  • BankyMons

Shame on you Mr Aremu Kikioluwa Mathew Obasanjo! Again shame on you!!!!!!

    • Richard

In my view , it is you that need to be ashamed of yourself because you hate the truth.

      • BankyMons

There is no single truth in you and Mr Obasanjo, shame on them that called evil good and good evil! Again a very massive shame on Mr Obasanjo! Nigerians will definitely overcome Obasanjo’s evil agenda and he will fall into the same pit that he has dug for Nigeria and Nigerians!

        • Richard

I agreed with you absolutely that those calling evil good should be ashamed of themselves . But the unfortunate thing is that you belong to the same category of the people. In 2011 the slogan was vote for Jonathan but not PDP. My question then was what was the difference between Jonathan and PDP. The truth of the matter is PDP and Jonathan have failed Nigerians therefore we need a change.

          • BankyMons

You have bought into those lies engineered by foreign governments and their internal collaborators (agents yes you read it here I mean Nigeria agents) who wants to subvert our government and create chaos to favour them. Before you guys do anything silly in Nigeria, first go and ask those countries shouting ‘change and arab spring’ ‘how far they have gone now?’. The truth is that this government is the best we have had since independence,I want you to prove me wrong here. It is wrong for you to accuse me of calling evil good and good evil without providing substance to back up your claims. Mere talk is cheap – evidence is what matters. The lies fabricated in the media and sold to illiterate and uninformed Nigerians is the most unfortunate thing that has happened to this country in the last few years. Obasanjo is an unrepentant liar who never won any election in Nigeria. How many people/politicians were assassinated between 1999 and 2007 in Nig? How many politicians have been assassinated since GEJ became president? You are only able to post rubbish and falsehood against a sitting president because he has vowed to stay true to his oaths no matter what, if you tried this in Obasanjo’s time you won’t live to tell your story and we all know this very well. What did Obasanjo achieve during his last 8 years as President of Nigeria? Obasajo was both the Minister of Petroleum, Power and Steel (after Ige was murdered??) and at the same time the President, how many of you complained then? Effectively, it is only Obasanjo that can say how much Nigeria earned or did not earn from oil during those years yet you people are blinding buying into the falsehood that GEJ is the most corrupt Nigerian. The truth is that the Hausa/Fulani who gave us a fraudulent constitution through their men in the military are the problem of Nigeria, we are set up for failure from the start. The loopholes for corruption were carefully created to serve the Hausa/Fulani hegemony who does not want to see a free and equitable Nigeria. GEJ is bent on changing that by trying to give us a new constitution and Obasanjo who has always worked for the Hausa/Fulani hegemony was chosen by them as the best tool to use against GEJ and Nigeria. Again mark my words tonight, he will fail not just ordinary failure but a monumental one at that. I can go on and on but I will stop here for now.

          • Rose Ankeny

How much of setting Nigeria on an equitable part as Jonathan accomplished in 6 yrs or he needs 10 yrs to do that ? I do not see any equity from him in the SW where am from. All I see is excuses n more excuses for failures

          • John

You are not making sense Bankymumu.
You are a confused entity, and nothing but that.

          • BankyMons

He hasn’t been president for 6 years! When did President Yar’ dua die? 4 or 5 years isn’t such a long time you and I am sure he hasn’t done much in his own Bayelsa state let truth be told but overall he has performed well when compared to past heads of state. I think he will do more in his second term because he will be carrying less baggage and will be more confident to fire those who will want to sabotage his govt since there won’t be any second term after now if you know what I mean.

  • Okey

    Teacher-Obasanjo, Please, Don’t Teach Me Nonsense !

Now, any person who has read Festus OdImegwu online today would readily recall what El Rufai wrote in his book that Odimegwu is one of those usually sought out and engaged for the scuttling of democratic process (such as by means of Third Term advocacy). Those who engaged Festus Odimegwu for Third Term have set him on the loose right now preparatory for Interim Government. But God in heaven will never allow them have their evil way.

  • Issei

This old man needs to be replied by Dookubo Asari because Asari isn’t as bad as this old pool.less I forget he’s the brain behind this mess,he foisted a sick man on us as president,in the name of revenge against us for refusing him third term,

  • Sword of Damocles

Baba, your words are prescient, in particular, there are two utterances that i will quote below and offer no opinion, because it is good for people to ponder them on their own:

“The President is the Chief Security of the country and he is the Commander-in-Chief and if security is required anywhere anytime, it is his duty to provide it, failure to provide it, is dereliction of duty, pure and simple”

    and

“I get worried, very worried that if the President of Nigeria is not in-charge of security, maintenance of law and order and such a decision can be taken behind him, assuming that is true, then the President must be reigning and not ruling and then who are the shadow figures that are ruling us?”

  • djay

With a wife like Pej, there is no life after Aso rock.

  • ALANI

Senile dementia know no political office. Our Ex President is becoming both paranoid and demented. At near 80 one is not surprised.
Guys please overlook irrelevant associations and be kind to the Old General with your comments..
After all Baba Iyabo is very human.

    • longben

Somethings are UGLY on the outside and even UGLIER on the INSIDE. Obasanjo fits that descripition PERFECTLY!!!! He is not only DISGUSTING and UNPLEASANT to look at physically, his dirty guts will make even a HYENA go on a 40day dry fasting just so it does not get to have to pick a morsel of this stinking and disgusting carcass parading himself as an ex-president of a country with over 170million human beings! Even vultures have TASTE and this UGLY, DECAYING carcass called obasanjo is not one them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omooodua

    FIRST THING FIRST GENERAL OBASANJO,
ASK THE FIRST RELEVANT QUESTION, VIZ:

    • Olu

      Old story.

      • Otunba Akindele

Old story for where? The High Court has summoned Buhari to come do the needful,
latest in the last week of February. No long story, no lies, just show his WASC, or,
go to jail for 14 years for swearing a false affidavit. Shikena!

  • David

Jonathan, please just leave…….just go away. You have tried your best and it is not good enough. You are incompetent ,inept, and you do not have ability to lead. You cannot even lead your wife. Go back home and resume your family presidency. Nigeria is too much for you to handle.

    • John West

@goliath, vote him out with your vote if you can and stop ranting on internet, motor park touts father and son. bush meat

    • ferdyokwu

The one you seem to like – in this report, did not try his best, was manipulative, was never a leader but dictator. He couldn’t even lead his home/family front, failed woefully to hold his home together, had abominable sexual orgies with his daughter-in-law, fell out with his daughter, divorced his first wife, used morons in laundering money a-la the Ubahs’ to name names. Here then is the profile of your Otta chimp, your empty hero! Shame on you!

  • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Shameless old pervert, travelling around and peddling lies to confuse white guys ! Nigeria will have an election and a government will be sworn in and it will be peaceful and Obasanjo’s evil insinuations and predictions will shame him because there will be no interim government for him to run ……….INCESTUOUS BABOON !!

    • Olu

You are Jonathan’s enemy. You are one of the people that are making it difficult for Jonathan to retain the presidency beyond 2015. You are an evidence of Jonathan biting the finger that feeds him. It is him that will suffer the pains in return. Don’t forget it is this same Obasanjo that God used to bring Jonathan to power. Jonathan is gone!

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Jonathan is not President for life so he will contest this election and he will win that tyrant .Jonathan’s offence is that he refused to be pushed around by OBJ just like Yar’adua before him refused.
Well he did the right thing,OBJ and his fellow haters can go and hang !!

    • BankyMons

      Amen.

      • Olu

I’m not surprise. Even people like you campaigned, for IBB to stay put, adopted Abacha as sole candidate to contest and stay put. Your confusion is you don’t know that there is different between nationalism and anti bad government. You will support even cow if cow could be incumbent president. Jonathan is gone!

    • longben

My brother, please STOP giving Baboons a bad name!!! Even the SICKEST of Baboons will not want to be remotely compared to this NON-ENTITY called obasanjo. He is way too SICK and low-life to wear any toga that even remotely relates him to any intelligent animal talkless of a PRIMATE! Even a single cell earthworm will REJECT that UGLY, worthless stain-on-the-wall piece of dirt-eating trash can.

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

        Wow !!

  • Otile

Are we not entitled to have Buhari’s real certificate, or are we to rely on the oluwale his school improvised? How can INEC waive certificate, and intelligence for him? This is like a blind man leading a crowd in Birnin Kebbi.

  • Rose Ankeny

Here goes Jonathan to the grave of history where he belongs with all his cluelessness

  • Tear drop for nigeria.

This same racoon of obasanjo is at it again. This is what he knows best to flame up the fire and cause chaos .nigerians know to ignore him. Because it’s always about obasanjo or nothing else.

  • JAMES DANJUMA

BABA OBJ I LIKE YOU FOR ALWAYS TELLING THE TRUTH. IT WAS THE TYPE OF MISGUIDED ADVISE GIVEN TO JONATHAN BY SOME MISGUIDED PEOPLE WHO DO NOT MEAN WELL FOR NIGERIA THAT BROUGHT THIS ADMINISTRATION TO THIS LEVEL OF CONFUSION IN POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL LIVES OF NIGERIANS.

  • _Proudly Niger Deltan

If the Otta Baboon still has any sanity left in him, then he should have known that there is no history made when someone from the South South/Niger Delta becomes a President. Therefore to liken Jonathan’s presidency of his country to some strange novelty bcos he is neither Yoruba nor Hausa is to present it as though it is an aberration. This is senseless and highly provocative.

Any Nigerian, I repeat, any Nigerian from whichever tribe, recognized as a Nigerian by the constitution, is fit to be president of our useless republic…and there is no ‘history’ made. If it is not said of an Abdullahi or Oluwole of making history when they become president, then why should you say such of an Otobo, Tamuno or Ochuko?

OBJ should desists from such statements borne out of misguided mischief and ignorance. His own daughter, frustrated by irritatingly nauseating statements from the senile ex-army officer, wrote an open letter as a last resort to tame a novel mental disorder of spastic outbursts. Obviously, that has not worked. But the gods are not to blame here. Iyabo ‘tried’.

    • makojo

Well Said. It Is OBJ himself that is risking losing his elder statesmanship, by directly instigating civil unrest. If one considers a working democracy as in the USA, once a president exits, he almost never makes a comment about succeeding administrations. Rather they get involved in some humanitarian efforts, for example Jimmy Carter that participates in Habitat For Humanity. Even George W. Bush has undertaken some humanitarian travel to parts of African. If they have any criticism or advice for the current administration they do it privately.
Unfortunately the Nigerian case is the opposite, as the past leaders keep coming back for more. To think that folks like OBJ, Danjuma, Buhari, etc, are still interfering in succeeding administrations is sad. Gowon is the only one among them that has remained a true statesman. He organizes Christian activities, and had even played piano for his church in Jos (St. Piran’s Anglican), and that was after he returned from exile in Britain. Here we see OBJ leaving no stone unturned to make sure he destroys any legacy left of Jonathan – even going as far as writing a ‘biography’ which has nothing to say about his own life, but was more of a criticism of GEJ.
Yes, the nation may be plunged into civil war, but that credit will go to OBJ. The evil that men do live, not only after them, but with them in the present life.

      • _Proudly Niger Delta

Yes you are right on Gowon as the only exception. Others are simply rascally and irritating nuisances. They refuse to kick the ‘kettle’, instead they keep causing problems here and there. But my only anger with Gowon whiich I will never forgive him for is fighting to keep Nigeria one. This space called Nigeria is never a country and will never be. We need to brace up to the truth, and do the needful – Break up this British contraption. Enough have already died.

  • _Proudly Niger Deltan

Just look at his nostrils like those of a locomotive exhaust pipe. His body language presents him as crude specie…and this type is the one speaking about Nigeria and who should be in power or not. Shame!

Indeed, Nigeria has become a huge psychiatric hospital where the critically ill have themselves become resident Doctors who now prescribe drugs not only for themselves but for other patients. How then will people get healed. No wonder Nigeria is where it is.

With two eyes open, some people still support he who lied about his Secondary school certificate and presented a forged copy after put under pressure. Yet, we all cry that the educational standards have fallen …and hope that it will be revamped by he who himself could manage just 3 credit passes. It is the absurdity of the Nigerian situation where self delusion is the order of the day, and truth has become alien to so many who live in it…especially of a particular tribe not worth mentioning.

  • burning spear

If the 12 years that this Otta thief wasted in government had been used to give the Nation state of Nigeria–a real sense of direction–Nigerian would not be where it is today–Obj was behind the murder of Murtala Mohamed and tried the same on Abacha-but failed. He was used by the CIA to scuttle the administration of Murtala and like the coward that he has always been, took off when he thought the coup had failed–only for him to be dragged out of his smelly hole to come and preside over the affairs of the country–He has always been a stooge of the Fulani’s–who arranged to have him executed while Boooooohari was with Abacha-Nigerian should see the move by Obj to distance himself from Jonathan as a blessing in disguise——–This was the same man whose alleged fight against corruption was only centered around the people of the Niger delta-and North Central-Stole more oil wells than any living president–Before Obasanjo was Gowon–Is he now telling us he is more educated than Gowon or what?–The time for the current government not to spare obj is now–the man has a very serious mental trouble understanding simple things–sadly the Yoruba elites have refused to call this Otta monster to order-Let Obj with pride as a Yoruba man- point to one road that he fixed in the entire South south or any part of Nigeria–especially the south west while president of 9ja for the 8 years he wasted sleeping in aso rock with his sons wife-and fighting with Atiku-

  • tsunami1earthquake

Obasanjo is becoming an annoying variable in Nigeria’s quest for nationhood. And as such he is now constituting himself into a nuisance. What does he think he knows about Nigeria that other former heads of state don’t know? Why is he finding pleasure in running down a constituted government? A reasonable past head of state should always call an erring sitting head of state to a private talk and advise such sitting leader; must never make such discussions public. Obasanjo is now acting like a bull in a china shop. Obasanjo, you are not the only ex-Head of State alive. Respect yourself, please. In terms of apportionment of blame, you cannot completely extricate yourself from the present faux pas in Nigerian politics. And if you think you don’t have any skeletons in your cupboard then you have another think coming! Don’t behave in a way that people would violently throw back your own evil deeds at your face and call you to account.

    • tsunami1earthquake

Obasanjo must come out and tell Nigerians the level of his electoral successes in Nigeria. Let Obasanjo lift the Bible in his right hand and aver that he won the 1999 election that ‘made’ him the president. Let Obasanjo raise the open right palm of his hand and declare that he won the 2003 election. And let Obasanjo explain to us why he lost deposit in a ward linked to his ancestral home in that election. And if he lost in that ward how could he convince any reasonable person that he won in other parts of Nigeria as was eventually recorded for him. Under Obasanjo’s watch we heard the new electoral lexicon, ‘do-or-die’ invented by none other than Obasanjo himself. Subsequently that do-or-die was made to work in 2007 when the pair of Yar’Adua and Jonathan got ‘elected’. And to crown it up and let the cat out of the bag the beneficiary of that travesty, President Yar’Adua himself, admitted that he DID NOT WIN that 2007 election! And that was an election done under the watch of the do-or-die inventor! Will Obasanjo swear he never remotely, at least, install Shehu Shagari as Nigeria’s president in 1979 and did everything to frustrate a more capable hand in the person of Chief Obafemi Awolowo?

Obasanjo is not ashamed of dressing Jonathan in unspeakable epithets when he, Obasanjo, tried as much as he could to single handed rewrite the nation’s Constitution in order to effect a tenure elongation for himself when it was crystal-clear a president must NEVER EXCEED two terms totalling 8 years! What was Obasanjo thinking when he embarked on this kind of effort only comparable to attempting to ascend a steep mountain with one’s back turned to the steep incline of this mountain?

Mr Obasanjo must henceforth remember that he was a president Nigeria shouldn’t have had because he stole the people’s mandate all the way to power. He NEVER won any of the elections that sequestered him in Aso Rock and kept him there for 8 years. What this boils down to is the fact that all the power, monies, allowances and appurtenances of office attached to the office of the president were stolen; they were never his! And as someone who now portrays the image of a Puritan, he must have to return all those stolen property, apologize to ALL Nigerians for stealing their mandate and stealing the mandate during the 2007 elections. Subsequently it would be the prerogative of ALL Nigerians to either forgive him or not. Even if they don’t he must pay back all the physical property of the Federal Government of Nigeria, with all the accruing interests. And, as a pastor that he claims to be now, he should know that he can never be forgiven by God if he does not return all these stolen properties. That is why the sin of the 7th Commandment of God, ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ is a very tough sin because it attaches to it the obligation of a restitution before such a sin is forgiven.

With this little I’ve given here Mr Obasanjo must sit quietly in his ‘Ota Residence’ (that is, if he had acquired this legitimately) and ruminate over his course of stealing. He must stop pointing fingers at others when he sure knows he himself is full of worse sins. That type of judgmental attitude must stop!

ALL SAID AND DONE, OBASANJO WANTS TO FORCE A REGIME CHANGE
IN NIGERIA BY HOOK OR BY CROOK, AND IS THUS AN ENEMY OF STATE,

    • Gbemiga

        Breaking News:

Both factions of the O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) have jointly
endorsed Mr. Goodluck Jonathan of PDP for the 2015 presidency,
following another joint endorsement of him by all Christian Churches,
plus, the separate endorsement by the Ohaneze Ndigbo in the five (5)
south-east states, plus, the overriding endorsement by AFENIFERE,
the pan-Yoruba political organization. The Oba of Benin has also endorsed
Mr. Goodluck Jonathan for a 2nd term in office, along with the six (6) states

Jonathan’s tolerant attitude is crudely being exploited by this over bloated, loud mouthed, self-centred man. Let him try his antics on Buhari should he come to power. He knows he’d be probed about his meteoric rise to wealth by Buhari who knows how much a general of his ilk earned over his career. He’s only playing to the gallery thinking he would fend off his probe. It will catch up with him; it’s coming! On the other hand, Jonathan ought to have reigned him in by now.

  • Aly

OBJ has said nothing but the plain truth! I don’t know why most of you clowns here are attacking him for being so candid in his analysis. Nigerians will NEVER see progress unless someone like Buhari comes to power. I won’t be surprised if most of you here attacking OBJ are beneficiaries of Jonathan’s corrupt regime. Shame on you all!! As long as good and positive-minded people continue to exist in this country, you lot will never have breathing space! Because we will continue to support only credible and trustworthy leaders like Buhari. As the saying goes, the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. We will NEVER relent in opposing you closed-minded, mediocrity-loving PDP bigots. Jonathan must go and Buhari will rule Nigeria to bring back sanity, security, economic growth and prosperity. All that matters now is time!

    • Emmy Cl

It is easy to dismantle people like you because you lack credibility, please can you mention three good achievement of obasanjo while he was the president? No 2 some fools want to vote for Buhari for his past but Buhari said that he shouldn’t be judged by his past as a military dictator, because he know how wicked he was, so what are your credibility ?am not a member of PDP but I have vowed to save nigeria from this conspiracy! !! GEJ IS HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH HIS PEOPLE BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO LOOT NIGERIA AND DUMP IT BEYELSA, HE REFUSED TO PLAY TRIBALISM.
