Jonathan campaign accuses Jega of plotting to rig Buhari into office

Femi Fani-Kayode

The Campaign office of President Goodluck Jonathan has accused the chairman of Independent national Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, of plotting to aid the opposition All Progressives Congress rig, APC, in the elections that are to hold March 28 and April 11.

The Spokesperson of the campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode, who addressed a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said Mr. Jega had decided to aid the APC rig the forthcoming elections through the manipulation of the production, distribution and collection of PVCs.

“Emerging trends have consistently shown calculated attempts to deprive parts of the country that would traditionally vote for President Jonathan of their PVCs whilst the parts of the country that would traditionally vote for the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, are already armed with their PVCs,” Mr. Fani-Kayode said.

The PDP campaign spokesperson also provided details of the PVCs distribution and collection across the six geo-political zones and thirty six states of the federation to back up his claims.

Mr. Fani-Kayode reiterated his earlier position that Mr. Jega was actually forced to shift the elections from their original dates of February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11 respectively, principally because of INEC’s inability to distribute the PVCs.

“The Commission had claimed substantial readiness for the general elections despite that as at 5th February 2015, the total number of PVCs collected was 45, 829, 808, representing 66.58% of the total number of registered voters.

“We had immediately commended the INEC on the grounds that the postponement would enable the 23 million eligible voters who had not collected their PVCs to do so before the new dates announced for the elections,” Mr. Fani-Kayode said.

“But we have now realized how Professor Jega had disingenuously presented the reasons for the postponement of the elections at the press conference, making it look as if the problem was mainly security.

“We would like to say that the major issue that informed INEC’s decision was the deliberate attempt by the Commission to disenfranchise over 23 million eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs.

“The matter is that INEC has failed in its responsibility to produce and distribute PVCs to about 34 percent of registered voters who would require the cards to vote in the elections.

“This brings us to the issue of statistics of PVC distribution and collection, which we believe Professor Jega, as a person, acting in concert with some forces of retrogression, is playing games with,” he said.

Mr. Fani-Kayode then provided details of the PVCs distribution to buttress his points.

See the full table of the PVCs distribution and posers by Mr. Fani-Kayode below:

The oppotunistic merchantile opposition will maintain that this anomaly doesn’t matter. Just as they were in full support of the 22,000 poll units that was to be created for them. That a war torn area recorded more PVC collection than a peaceful state fits their rigging machionery as they have always fraudulently maintained that such areas are their stronghold but could not go to Yobe ad Maiduguri to campaign. Jega your game is up. Pack and go. We nor go gree

    • Sams

I guess all you wanted to say was ‘Pack and go’, but you had to write some crap before that.

Creek rat, do you want INEC to come knocking on your door and give you your PVC ?
War ravaged areas have Internally Displaced Persons camp where most people displaced are now concentrated and therefore easier to get the people go collect their PVC. And why does Dumbo think he will lose in those Northern areas he won in 2011 if he’s actually doing a good job?

Paranoia is the disease ravaging you, Dumbo and Fani, go look for a cure !

      • BlackieUmukoro

Fear of defeat is all over you and from your utterances, your hitherto mental instability has beginning to manifest. Pity we have lost you to Aro centre Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTN

And the crackhead is back! Calling for change by disenfranchising voters! Criminal yoruba element!!

  • Sams

From the table, I really see no reason why they are complaining. Nothing is lopsided.
Besides, all PVCs are available for collection. Most ppl in PDP strongholds are just disappointed with GEJ but don’t wanna vote for Buhari, that is why they are not going to get collect their PVCs.
By the way, just like 2011, it is Jega, GEJ and Buhari. If 2011 elections were credible (as claimed by GEJ), what changed???

    • objective

      You have a valid argument!

  • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Where are the figures for the remaining 13 States? Lagos has recorded about 38% PVC collection rate while insurgency-ravaged States like Borno and Adamawa have recorded much higher rates. Yet Jega’s INEC claimed it was ready to conduct elections with such lopsided PVC distribution figures. Jega is working for APC and should be sacked.

    • blueeyedkitten

if jega is working for APC, why lagos and kano(considered strong hold of APC) having low percentage of collections? use your common sense!

    • progress

      Omobastarrd.

  • Omoagunmate

Basket mouth don open hin mouth again o!!

  • Ikechi

This figure is clearly misleading and a fraud. In IMO State where I stay I can stay that whoever wants to collect his card has collected it. Even those that registered in the new registers toon exercise has collected their cards last week so where did this scarecrow get these figures from?

  • Sam

We should stop twisting facts. Percentage collection is a function of a number of factors, some of which INEC can do nothing about. Enthusiasms is one of such factors. I can understand perfectly why someone in Borno State would take the collection of PVC more serious than someone in Lagos State or Anambra State. That said, INEC inefficient distribution system is also a factor and there are several other factors. But to make this an issue is simply hogwash. The total number of registered voters is the only number than can be 100%; % of PVC collected cannot and would never be (not collecting your PVC could be a form of protest vote too because you don’t trust the system); % of votes cast would be even lower; so also the % of valid votes cast. This is simply a campaign to throw away the baby (INEC & JEGA -in particular) with the bath water (the election process). You have been given more time, so go pick up your PVC and vote the candidate of your choice.

  • objective

You see, we should all open our eyes very wide and refuse to be deceived by these agents of underdevelopment and corruption. I am not PDP and I am not APC, but I am a Nigerian and I can discern too. All these people are trying to do is call a dog a bad name in a bid to hang him.

Jega is too independent minded for these people, and they are planing to replay the Lamido Sanusi’s card, but unfortunately they have forgotten that the office of Jega is a very volatile one and the sanusi formular will not work here. If in all the states more than 50% of the voters have obtained PVC is that not an all-across majority? From the table presented that is what has happened. And I could see that traditional PDP voting states are the highest recipients of PVCs.

If it is made available and they are not collected how is it Jega’s fault? Or is it that their alleged supporters are so disappointed with their performance that they now feel it is fruitless to collect the PVCs and vote them again?

  • Rommel

I need more information on the soundness of the mind of Fani Kayode,he needs to shed more light on his psychiatric records so that we know that we are not dealing with a Lunatic

  • JB2000

Fani Power Jnr like his father did will never seize to be a handy tool for unpopular party and politicians. He will definitely go the way of his father. Jega confirmed that all PVCs have been produced and distributed to the zones. The responsibility for people to collect their PVCs is solely that of the registered voters. Does he want Jega to go and give to them in their houses? The fact is they thought wrongly that Jega could be manipulated. They have been proved wrong. The question we have asked them consistently without answer is than what is the allowable threshold for collected PVCs before election can be conducted given that over 45 million registered voters have collected their PVCs which is more than the people who voted Jonathan in 2011 and ofcourse with confirmation by INEC that this was an improvement from last elections. Fact is that even if you have 100% collection of PVCs, GEJ will lose by not less than 70% margin. More people are behind Jega for doing the right thing. Premiumtimes should conduct an a poll on Jega”s vote of confidence to show this chrallantants that Nigerians are with him.

    • objectve

I am in full support of your point! You talked with common sense. Please can you give just a little bit of that common sense to Fani Power Jnr. Please!!!!!

    • Ekerete Etukudo

So your point is that since GEJ provided the weapons for the soldiers to fight boko haram, he (GEJ) should not be blamed for the refusal of some coward soldiers to fight then right?! Sounds very much like what you’re saying. So in that case, where is your brain?

      • JB2000

If you have semblance of cotton wool as brain, you will know that even soldiers fighting conventional wars need moral boost in addition to weapons. How much more a guerilla warfare where the civilian next to you as a soldier and supposedly under your protection could be your worst enemy. Have you seen any of the bizarre and mindless butchering by the mindless BH on youtube? If your brother is in the force would you pray for him to be killed like that or you are under illusion that soldier are made of iron and steel. Anyway, your GEJ tried belatedly to give moral boost to the soldiers when he went to Maiduguri to campaign for his reelection. Much less that than could have achieved better result earlier by GEJ bunch of incompetent Chiefs who can only coax Jega to shift election. But incompetence begets incompetence. Like computer ……GIGO! GEJ is incompetent .They have ingeniously said that when a student fails a class like GEJ, he should be made to repeat but when its a bad failure nko, you fire the student. GEJ is fired!

  • Thepeople

Fits of paranoid By an unpolar government that have failed its people. Mountain high execuses for not having the guts to face the people. The day of change is not far. CHANGE MUST COME TO NIGERIA

  • salako

Lunatic nobody the buy your idea apart from drug addict like you.

  • 1MASK01

I believe Jega is also the one responsible for all the crowds that cheers Buhari in all the places he went for campaigns, abi, oga Femi? going by your previous interviews (against Jonathan) and the more recent ones (for Jonathan) I had the feeling like you are just the Piper who got paid and have the tunes dictated to you. I won’t be surprised if eventually Buhari wins you won’t go hobnobbing with APC.

  • Nuga A

But INEC will not force anybody to come out and collect their PVC. INEC have been saying the PVC are available for collection and some people are not fort coming to collect it,we should all know that the Northerner are more interested in this election than the Southerners, that shows the difference in collection of PVC,some Southern are not ready to waste their time for collection of the PVC because of their disappointment in GEJ.PDP should take clue from APC when the APC government where preaching and giving public holiday in there various state to people so that they can go and collect their PVC, the PDP keep mute now they are complaining.Give us a break please.

    • Onike24

Please ignore them, I live in the Uk and collected my voters card, my Octogenarian father collected his PVC after six attempts! Even in the Uk where you can register on line and voting takes less than five minutes, some people don’t bother, it is impossible to have 100% voter registration!

  • Segun

Jega should be stopped now. In fact he should proceed on terminal leave. I learnt he went to Dubai and had a meeting with APC on how to rig Jonathan out. His cup is full.

    • August January

      Omo ale! Ole!

  • Segun

To me card reader must be canceled, PVC and TVC should be used. Enough of this Jega nonse.

Jega should save this democracy. He must stop further alliance with APC. He must not cause crisis in this country.

Please can some help femi -fani-kayode he needs a medical check-up.

    • Preco01

He is far too gone in his sickness, no remedy

  • richkid

Jega want buhari to win it’s obvious. But he will fail. He should go on terminal leave that is the procedure we won’t change rule because of him. Besides GEJ can boast of those nothern votes plus that of south. GEJ is winning.

    • D1

Another propaganda by PDP, drowning party hanging onto anything, everything to survive! Shameless people.
The extent that you guys will destroy people’s character knows no bound. This is a man, that has been in the public eye, attending press conferences to douse the tension being created by GEJ, his goons and the military, yet he is being accused of being partisan and courting APC. When did he travel to Dubai? Provide the evidence!

Haba! What manner of people are these? Spewing all kinds of allegations around, waiting for which one to stick. Good lord, please rid us of these people come March, Amen.

  • Dr.Dan

I think postponing the election is justified. So that no candidate would say he lost because INEC failed to distribute PVC in his stronghold. Notwithstanding even if 100% PVC is achieved, voters turn out in the south south for the presidential election could be less than 50% because of voters apathy. Most people in the south south do not care about who wins or lose after all their son has been in power for 6years and there is not even a single project to show for it except paying of stipends to Ijaw ex millitants.

  • MushinSpeaks

Ruling party has now become opposition…cant wait for March 28…they only postpone their day of doom.

  • taiwo

The president is a great leader whose wonderful performances are being deliberately covered with an evil veil from the APC camp of frustrated politicians but our GOD pass them

  • Maitama Tambari

Shame! Shame !! Shame!!! Femi, you are a shamefully person. It is now that Prof. Jega wants to rig election for your opponent. Simple arithmetic. First PDP States have collected more Permanent Voters Cards than APC States. Out of 48 million distributed, your arithmetic gives roughly 24 million. You only showed 23 States out of 36 States including FCT. When are you going to stop misleading Nigerians and deceiving your diminishing returns brain from further false ridiculous lies? CHANGE! YES WE CAN.

    • Otile

Put you thinking cap on. That a state is called APC stat does not mean that every voter there must vote for APC. For example Rauf Amaechi changed Rivers into APC, but the majority of Rivers voters are planning to vote for President Jonathan debunking bigoted Buhari.

  • nelson

what i can see in the eyes of Femi is confusion. This is a man who abused the PDP shortly after he decamped from the party. Like the saying that the dog has gone back to his vomit, please Femi go and face your corruption charges by EFCC. SHAMELESS BINGO

    • Ekerete Etukudo

Ok. So you support disenfranchising voters eh? That’s your version of change? Change by fraud? Thief!!!

  • Olurin

How is it possible that number 1 & 2 are the same? The probability of that happening is extremely low. Fani has done it again!

  • Mr. Abdin

his man called FFK is absolutely confused.

    • Ekerete Etukudo

You want democracy, yet you want to disenfranchise voters. You need not define fraud any longer. You epitomize fraud!

  • Finally Jonathan has reacted to the leaked #Ekitigate tape. According to the Present ‘I don’t give a damn’.

  • Nigeria@heart

Mr President is too Soft. All this things APC and Jega is doing cannot be tolerated by Those APC. He should wake-up and be strong. He is the Commander in Chief (GCFR). Even if he wins the election. Which i believe he will Win. Nothing will happen. Hasn’t the worst happened before-BOKOHARAM.

  • Nigeria@heart

WHAT FFK IS 100% TRUE. IS HE THE FIRST TO DECAMP TO PDP. HOW MANY PDP MEMBERS DECAMPED TO APC AND THEN STARTED TALKING RUBBISH AGAINST GEJ AND HIS ADMINISTRATION. IF FFK IS LYING. THEN LET JEGA PRODUCE HIS OWN LIST. DON’T UNDERMINE THIS APC’s. THEY ARE READY TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO WIN THIS ELECTION. GOOD A THING IT WAS POSTPONED. The PDP has been campaigning that PVC and Card Readers (CRs) should not be used by INEC in the coming election because it will weed out ghost voters which PDP relies upon to rig the election. Instead they want Temporary Voter Card to be used, thereby giving room to ghost voters to vote as it happened in the last governorship election in Anambra where a bowl of rice was registered as a voter and it voted. The collection of PVC is voluntary and INEC gives it out on personal demand and on presentation of a TVC.

  • Ndubuisi Chinedu

GEJ will win this election again.

The greatest mistake PDP as a party had made and will ever
make is pick a psychiatric patient, Femi Fani-Kayode as
its Director of Media and Publicity, presidential campaign organization.
Most Nigerians are aware of how many years this man spent in Uselu Psychiatric
Hospital Benin, Benin City. Possibly, the party thought the man has been
completely cured of his madness, it is not possible to cure someone completely
of madness. There may be improvement, but that person will always exhibit some
characteristics of madness as Femi Fani-Kayode is currently doing. Come to look at it, it is not really his fault.
Most times, he does not know what he is doing.

Why is Jega so important to APC? Why is it so important to APC that election should hold on feb 14th ? Why all this fast forward attitude of APC? Certainly something is wrong somewhere and its easy to deduce.
    1) the imposition of an unqualified presidential candidate. The faster the election is held the easier for them to conceal their perjury.
2)APC/Jega unholy alliance. The longer they wait the more the loose ends.

  • Ibukun Tosin

Places like Borno, Adamawa etc where terrorists have established caliphates, have achieved over 85% PVC distribution. Can someone explain to Nigeria what method did Jega used to distribute PVC in the North East? while In the South its less than 40%.
