We’ll No Longer Condone Opposition-Sponsored Protests – PDP

Olisa Metuh, Spokesman, PDP

Our attention has been drawn to a text message being circulated by a nebulous group under the name, Save Democracy Youth Movement , calling on the Minister of Petroleum and the Minister of Finance to tender their resignations before the 11th of February 2015, citing unfounded allegations as reason.

We have information that this unwarranted attack is sponsored by the opposition which also has plans to follow up the text messages with sponsored protests in Abuja and Lagos to further heat-up the system ahead of the February 14, 2015 general elections.

From all indications, this senseless attack is aimed at demonizing our women folk who have been playing key roles in the laudable achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Indeed, it bears the full imprints of the opposition which has not hidden its aversion to women holding important positions in our country, in keeping with their ideology which prescribes that no woman, no matter how brilliant should be heard or seen.

Furthermore, we invite Nigerians to note the timing of the text message and the planned protest, merely few days before the February 14 election date. This leaves no one in doubt about the plot by the opposition to stir up civil unrests ahead of the polls as part of the greater agenda to scuttle the electoral process.

In any case, we wish to inform the opposition that as the largest political party in the country, we will no longer continue to condone unjustified sponsored attacks on our party and/or our elected and appointed officers. The fact that we have remained calm and peaceful despite the numerous provocations does not in anyway suggest that we will allow ourselves to be cowed by the enemies of peace, unity and stability of our dear nation.

We remain confident that our Presidential flagbearer, President Goodluck Jonathan is running on his enviable record of performance and achievements in virtually all sectors of our national life for which the electorate are eager to demonstrate their appreciation by re-electing him come February 14th.

We therefore call on all lovers of democracy and the security agencies to note the sinister agenda of the opposition and hold them responsible should there be any breach of the peace before, during and after the elections.

Signed:
Olisa Metuh

  • Ette

    Part of the PDP wicked plan to cause trouble and cancel election. Metuh should ask the DSS to fish out the tel. nos used in sending out such messages rather than run out to make nonsense announcement. Technology is available to DSS to track owners of the phone numbers and interrogate them. GEJ and PDP is using ex militants, old men in southern Nigeria, DG of national orientation, and other bribed groups to threaten Jega to shift election, and this is part of the wicked schemes and all of them must crumble. God bless Nigeria

  • Denis_NG

    Metuh should tender an incontrovertible evidence clearly showing the culpability of APC’s involvement in this named organization’s demand for the removal of the two ministers (not that they deserve to hold on to their seats for one day more than demanded by the SDYM/. The fact that Metuh failed to present any such evidence renders his outburst presumptuous and as such, preposterous.

  • Wole benson

    Who ever decides to allow himself to become a tool for the APC to use to cause unrest before, during and after this election has himself or herself to blame because you are selling your right for a greater nation for peanuts and posterity will not forgive such a person. Be wise, use your vote well, You have the right for a better life under GEJ.

  • Abdullahi Adamu

    APC are just bunch of disappointment. I joined this party thinking they were actually progressive but I ended up disappointed. Where is the change they are promising? They will surely fail. PDP and GEJ all the way.

      You joined apc on the Internet and left on the Internet. Stop lying. This is about Nigeria, you don’t have to join a political party to demand for good governance.

    These are what Jonathan CLUELESSNES has brought to my state,Ekiti State:1) The rehabilitation of Ado-Ijan-Ikare road2) The rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road from Iwaraja-Erinmo-Efon Alaaye-Erio-Aramoko-Ijero are part of Jonathan cluelessness3) Rehabilitation of Ado-Ikere road (FG has paid the money back to EKSG).4) Dualisation of Ado-Ifaki road is being carried out by EKSG on behalf of the Federal Government. Note: PDP government started the road project. Ekiti state govt will still be reimbursed by FG for the work done on the roads.5) Release of N3billion to the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti for Infrastructural development6) Establishment of Federal University, in Oye – Ekiti. More than 600 Ekiti Indigenes are now gainfully employed in the University at Oye Ekiti.7) Federal Inland Revenue Service office Opposite Central Bank,along Secretariat road, Ado-Ekiti has also been added to the list of Jonathan’s cluelessness. The office has provided pensionable jobs for scores of Ekiti sons and daughters 8) Jonathan cluelessnes has also brought a branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria to Ekiti State. Ekiti sons and daughters are working there.9) Ekiti now has a Federal High court, and Court of Apeal, all thanks to Jonathan Cluelessness.10) 3, 000 people are collecting N10, 000 through SURE-P every month in Ekiti. SURE-P is part of Jonathan cluelessnes. 11) Jonathan Cluelessness has brought Ekiti one of the biggest Silos in Nigeria. The GES scheme has seen subsidised agriculture inputs such as fertilisers and Oilpalm and cocoa seedings made available to Ekiti farmers.Note: The GES scheme is a Federal Government initiative under the Agriculture Transformation Agenda (ATA) through which subsidised agriculture inputs such as fertilisers and seeds are made available to farmers. Under the initiative, farmers access inputs through an electronic distribution channel known as the e-wallet. One of the conditions of the scheme stipulates that a registered farmer pays 50 per cent of the cost of farm inputs while the federal and state governments pay 25 per cent each on his behalf. Farmers are registered for the scheme nationwide by capturing their data into the ministry’s central data bank.13) Jonathan Cluelessness has made Ekiti youths to key-in into the FG’s Agric Transformation Agenda (ATA) This has given birth to Youth in Commercial Agriculture (YCAD) in Ekiti state, where youths are now involved in commercial agriculture. Note: ATA is being financed by Mr. CLUELESSThese are some of the many goodies Jonathan’s Cluelessness has brought to Ekiti, that Obasanjo’s Brilliance couldn’t bring. The cluelessness of Jonathan profits us than the brilliance of Baba Iyabo•This same clueless man has built 20 new silos across the country•This same clueless man has built new rice mills across the countryThis same clueless Jonathan has built and commissioned new power plants in some of the selected cities across the nation..•This same clueless and Shoeless fisherman has built new airports and remodeled the existing ones. EKSG has yet to give FG go ahead on the choice of site to use for the cargo port.•This same dummy is bringing back our railways to life.•This same man from Otueke is building the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Benin-Ore, Kano-Maidugri, East-west, etc•This same supposedly *drunk* is building a new 2nd Niger Bridge.•This same president is building new Federal Universities in all the Six Geopolitical zones of the country.•This most-hated being is building new Almajiri schools.I think Nigeria should have been better than this if our past leaders had been CLUELESS like GEJ.Despite the threats of the Northerners to make this country ungovernable for a southern President, Jonathan has performed creditably well. The fresh air indeed!

    MAKE YOUR CHOICE: MOVING FORWARD UNDER PRESIDENT JONATHAN & THE PDP OR GOING BACKWARDS UNDER BUHARI & THE APC

    Under President Jonathan, elections have been the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history.

    Muhammadu Buhari overthrew democracy to become military dictator in 1983.

    Under President Jonathan, Nigeria has become the largest economy in Africa, attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, and lifting Nigerians up.

    In the name of curbing imports and fighting corruption, Buhari implemented policies that led to countless job losses and the closure of businesses. Prices rose and living standards fell sharply.

    In order to tackle corruption, President Jonathan has given the EFCC the independence to investigate and punish corrupt officials without political interference.

    As military dictator, Buhari implemented a “war against indiscipline,” which was carried to “sadistic levels, glorying in the humiliation of a people,” wrote the Nobel laureate and writer Wole Soyinka. Despite his brutal tactics, corruption was not curbed under his rule.

    President Jonathan enacted the Freedom of Information Act, empowering the press and Nigerian citizens to scrutinize the actions of public officials and institutions.

    Under his brutal regime, Buhari made the publication of “critical articles” a crime. He used the decree to jail many journalists, including Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabo. He didn’t stop with journalists, also jailing prominent artists such as Fela Kuti.

    President Goodluck Jonathan has strengthened public watchdogs including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in order to protect the rights of all Nigerians. He has actively fostered collaboration with human rights leaders and other civil society activists on constitutional reform.

    As military dictator, Buhari’s brutal crackdown on human rights began with Decree No. 2 of 1984, which allowed Buhari’s chief of staff to arrest and detain anyone indefinitely without trial. When Buhari was overthrown in 1985, the Inspector-General of the Police opened the prison doors on national television, revealing people, many of them torture victims, in various stages of malnutrition.

    President Goodluck Jonathan has made it clear that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. He has sought to unite the country and to ensure that Nigerians are free to vote without fear of violence or intimidation.

    Buhari’s inflammatory statements following his loss in the 2011 presidential elections incited widespread violence in the North. A petition has been filed against Buhari in the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his role in inciting post-election violence. Buhari later told loyalists, “If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood”.

    Don’t let Buhari and the APC take us back to the old ways. Come February 14, vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP to keep Nigeria moving forward.

  • Isa Aliyu

    APC is not a party any normal human being who want the growth and betterment of the Nation should vote for.Vote GEJ.

  • Ahmed usman

    This people are ridiculous, trying to stir unrest is a deterrent on the peace expected from this election, or probably they are trying to influence the masses to vote on the change which they have failed woefully on several branches of office which they are occupying. yes jonathan is not a saint but Buhari is not an option for this nation.

  • Akinwande Kolawole

    The type of changes Nigeria needs cannot be provided by Buhari. I don’t know how some people thinks. How can a person like Buhari who can hardly spell his own name correctly be connected with any positive change? This is person who retired from military over 30 years ago but engaged himself in nothing worthwhile apart perennial participation presidential election . Buhari will not only fail as usual but we must make him understand that the time Gambaris ruling the fraud called Nigeria is gone forever. Until the eventual disintegration of the fake federation called Nigeria , Gambari will never rule over Yorubaland again

  • Aisha

    I think it is time to match APC force for force. let them try Okonjo Iweala and see fire.

  • Segun

    Why is APC frustrated? Do they understand the level of crisis that engulf this nation if this crisis they are stoking starts. they should be careful.

  • Okafor Emeka

    Olisa Metuh keep exposing them and their antics. This morning I read their response to GEJ’s railway transformation and concluded that APC has gone beyond redeemable stage. Their orchestrated lies and sponsored protests can only accelerate their predestined failure at the polls. Devilish party and people.

  • Etim Lazarus

    we must vote rightly in 2015
    J = Joyfully
    O = On
    N = New
    A = Assignment
    T = To
    H = Help
    A = All
    N = Nigerians

    THEN we must also resist anyone who will

    B = Bring
    U = Us
    H = Hatred
    A = And
    R = Religious
    I = Intolerance
    CONTINUITY in 2015…is inevitable.

  • Preye Aganaba

    Buhari and APC are bad products meant to create confusion in Nigeria. They plans are already crumbling. Come FailBuhari Nigerians will teach them lessons.

  • Eniola Adeola

    It is high time we match Apc and their cohort fire for fire,so that this arrant nonsense should stop.We are tired of this bastardized acts perpetrated by this hoodlums.Time to stop Bihari and send him back to cattle rearing.Vote GEJ

    • SBA

      Too late to stop him.

  • Remi

    Who is Metuh to decide who will be allowed to protest? Is it because he is a member of PDP that confers this right to him? It is the right for any Nigerians who feel aggrieved to protest. After stealing us blind then we cannot also protest?

    • Pam Daylop

      You mean those paid by APC to protest? Smell the coffee my friend. APC is evil.

      • SBA

        Yes I spell the resounding defeat of Jonathan

        • Pam Daylop

          In your wildest dream. Wake and face reality.

  • Pam Daylop

    APC have failed already.

    • SBA

      According to your opinion which you are entitled to anyway. For me APC is the better alternative to 6 years of shame, debauchery, corruption and shenanigans of the PDP government

      • Pam Daylop

        You mean the Amaechis,Kwankwasos,Atikus,Sarakis,Wammakos,the Tinubus? they are your idea of ‘better alternative’? At your age one may be forced to think you are smart and wise. I sympathise with you my friend,you are under spell.

        • Kehinde

          Pam, your case is pathetic, in that, Jang will soon jang your life before leaving Plateau State, because you are one of the people who believe that 16 is greater than 19. That is why you are reasoning like them.

          • Pam Daylop

            Jang is Still better than fulanis destroyers. They cant rule over us again. We will deliver plateau 90% to GEJ and PDP,so will all the states dominated by the minorities. Don’t worry yourself how we do our things in Plateau. Under GEJ our people has been able to reach to the peak of their careers unlike during the Hausa Fulani killers.

  • Christopher edet

    APC and their cohorts are irrelevant to the betterment of this nation. All their intention is to take cause unrest in this nation and and send us back to the stone ages. They are group of desperado aiming to destroy democracy.

  • Gloria Sunday

    Educated bandits and desperadoes on the verge of causing unrest on this peaceful and developing nation

  • Sani Danladi

    PDP and GEJ are empowering youths through YOUWIN,GIS,YEAP and other programmes while APC are busy using youths as political thugs. Nigerian youths open your eyes,dont allow yourselves to be used as thugs for a grandpa. New Greek PM is your agemate. Don’t vote for grandfathers.

  • Ifeanyi Chukwujekwu

    Asiwaju Peoples Congress. Sore losers. Boko haramic people.

  • Musa Yaro

    PDP = power to the youths,power to the women and power to the good people of Nigeria. I represent PDP Kaduna. GEJ,Sambo and Yero,the winning team.

  • Eniola Adeola

    Between 1983 and 1985, Peter Onu of Nigeria was Acting Secretary-General of the OAU. At the 1985 Summit in Addis Ababa, statesmen like Julius Nyerere, President of Tanzania, lobbied for his election as substantive Secretary-General. However, there was a major stumbling block to Peter Onu’s candidature: his Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, was campaigning against him.
    Buhari claimed: “This generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country than Nigeria.” But when the crunch came, his allegiance to Nigeria disappeared. In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. He secured the election of Ide Oumarou, a Fulani man from Niger; as opposed to an Igbo man from Nigeria. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe.

    • tundemash

      Dumbo became the only and modern Nigerian President to ever represent Nigeria at Organisation of Islamic Countries meeting.

  • charles peters

    It is obvious that this gang up is getting out of hand. But the quietness of Mr president to allow freedom is being over stretched, opposition should be careful..

    • Nigeria is already acutely made sick by 16 years of PDP’s corruption and misrule.

  • Anene Mercy

    The opposition should be made to sit up. Why are they causing confusion everywhere, creating tension and making nigeria look sick. it is time to push the push.

  • Ayo Killany

    PDP is a curse on Nigeria

    • Etang Chris

      APC is a disgrace in Nigeria

      • PDP is the first and bigger disgrace.

  • Etang Chris

    It is laughable for anyone to protest for non existence allegation. APC should stop fomenting trouble and go for poll on 14th. they leave OPEC chair lady alone.

  • A group threatened to protest over certain issues. The only cause the small brain of Methu could think of is the opposition. As expected, a host of others with little brains also believe him and are spewing thrash as comments without bothering to ask for evidence. Your intellect is the first casualty if you support PDP.

  • tundemash

    Same excuse for the past 4 years;

    Boko haram kidnapped Chibok girls ——- APC to blame
    Stella Oduah mismanaged Aviation money —— APC to blame
    US accuse Nigeria of being unserious with security —- APC to blame
    Army complains of inadequeate weapons to fight BH —– APC to blame
    Dumbo scared to deliver address at AY meeting —– APC to blame
    HipoPatience mother dies on road accident — APC to blame
    Dumbo no fit shit for toilet ——– APC to blame
    HipoPatience overfed and overweight —– APC to blame

  • If PDP has done well as it claims, why are they afraid of election? Evidence is already out how they shamelessly rigged Ekiti election. Progress for PDP is corruption. Oil theft was less that 50,000 Barrel per day four years ago, now it is 400,000 per day. That’s real progress.

    • dd

      No one is afraid of the election. It is just a manipulated reporting to show APC have already won the election. Just to make war break out when GEJ wins. It is called Advanced Protest Calculation.

  • Oil subsidy was less than 350 billion naira during the time of Yardua.Oil subsidy is now more than 1.6 trillion naira.This is PDP’s style of progress.

  • bluesky

    You could tell when a man is not the true son of his father.

  • King Carlos

    It baffles me that upon all the money they have been stealing for 16 gears, people still can’t afford to hire brilliant people in key offices of their party. Metuh us everything but intelligent.

    This is another attempt to paint APC as an Islamic party, whereas, VP dumbo sambo, said earlier in the week that APC is a christian party. This is the same confusing manner they have been running the country.

  • dd

    If war broke out in Nigeria, blame APC. They are using their drugs too much these days.

  • thusspokez

    BTW Where are the Nigerian female politicians? Has anyone seem or heard them or both?

  • ubong ekanem

    APC should forget about the presidential election because they have nothing to show us.GEJ till 2019

  • geraldine jaja

    There is nothing the APC can do, GEJ is nigerias next president…

  • Edward Osadebay

    Olise Metuh should just shut up. Those ministers ought to have resigned if they had any conscious. And since the PDP is a consciousless party, it is a shame that these girls are still hanging on to their jobs instead of cooling their heels in the dungeon for their infamous roles in the bizarrre lootings of our resources. PDP is so shameless. I wonder how Metuh was brought up that shame has totally deserted his being. The actors in PDP do not deserve our respect any more or civility when we talk or make comments about them. They are bunch of blood suckers and we the people shall take our pound of fresh after we force them out. It shall not be well for PDP. They shall be scattered but we will hunt them down wherever they hide. The pains they caused Nigerians shall be inflicted on them in hundred folds starting from President Jonathan. The blood of those he deliberately allowed to be massacred shall hunt him out of Aso Rock, take revege on him and his lieutenants including Metuh.

  • Mosaku 147

    PDP and Jonathan are at the brink of causing civil war in Nigeria and our so called statesmen are all quiet.

  • Nasiru Fakai

    hmmmm! So Nigerians should condone PDP sponsored protest and blackmail right? What has really gone into the head of this opportunist? I guess this is a step to clamdown on opposition right?

  • Dr. Mallam Mahdi

    Na WA ooo these pdp people are in real confusion, so now you mean Nigerians can’t differenciate their left and right. We have no senses to protest against any evil done to our nation? This is the major thing that kills this government, anybody who tells them the truthis regard as enemy.
