Buhari commiserates with victims of insurgent attacks in Maiduguri, others

Muhammadu Buhari

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed shock at reports of the latest attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on Maiduguri, Konduga and Monguno in Borno State.

The insurgents had early Sunday seized Monguno leading to the death of several residents. However, the military repelled the attacks on Maiduguri, the state capital, and Konduga.

The attacks also reportedly left over 40,000 more refugees who have now joined the ranks of the internally displaced.

Describing the attacks as “mindless”, Mr. Buhari, in a statement by the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, expressed his condolences, support and prayers to the families of the victims as well as soldiers affected in the incident.

He however assured that the situation in the affected areas would not last forever.

“While I commiserate with the latest victims of this despicable orgy of violence of Borno State, I equally implore them to bear in mind that this situation won’t last forever,” Mr. Buhari said in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of his campaign, Garba Shehu.

“In spite of the incompetent handling of this insurgency by the Federal Government, solution is in sight with the APC set to dislodge the PDP administration that has ruinously led this great country for nearly 16 years.”

Last week he was calling for a peaceful solution, and now he’s calling them monsters? You are playing a dangerous game Mr Buhari.

Back to criticizing the government who has “ruinously led Nigeria” but where figures show that our GDP actually was multiplied by more than a hundredfold since Democracy has been given a chance. Buhari should talk more how he ruinously led the country when he was its dictator in 1983-1985.

  • FadeelahO

Not surprisingly Muhammadu Buhari would never salute the actions of the soldiers or the Government that has valiantly fought off the insurgents from Maiduguri or Sabon Gari last week, because it would be in contradiction with his whole political program that has been based upon the bashing of the PDP and the Nigerian Army.

    • Dayo

I totally agree. He is feeding off the terrible things happening to our country. I bed he somehow hoped the army failed in Maiduguri and Sabon Gari, because it would have brought more grist for his mill. It became so obvious he was dubious when the army started to win again – we have to remember that the army’s campaign against Boko Haram was very successful before mid 2013, when Shekau radically changed the group’s action. One who wishes for the death of our citizens and the demise of our military must not be president.
