Pirates ‘kill’ 3 soldiers in Bayelsa, snatch gunboat

Gunmen suspected to be pirates have allegedly attacked and killed three soldiers of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Operation Pulo Shield in the Nembe axis of Bayelsa, maritime workers in the area have said.

The pirates reportedly hijacked a military gunboat after killing the soldiers on board on Sunday at about 4 p.m.
The military however said it was too early to confirm the deaths of the soldiers.

The soldiers were escorting material to Brass terminal owned by the Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC, when the gunmen opened fire on them.

Maritime workers, who did not want to be identified, said the soldiers were sailing from Port Harcourt to Brass, Bayelsa State, when they came under attack.

“They were ambushed by pirates. It is suspected that the gunmen killed the soldiers and threw their dead bodies into the water and made away with the gunboat,” one source said.

“The gunboat seems to be the target of the hoodlums as arms are being stockpiled by militants ahead 2015 elections.
“The Santa Barbara river in Nembe area where the incident occurred is notorious for piracy”.

The Media Coordinator for JTF, Mustapha Anka, who confirmed the attack said on Monday that it was too hasty to conclude that the soldiers were dead.

Mr. Anka said the outfit had raised a search team adding that efforts were underway to locate the whereabouts of the soldiers.

…what were the soldiers doing in Bayelsa? They should be in the neighbourhood of Sambissa where there is combat. Many of these soldiers are only interested in oil ‘bunkering’ and protection of the environmental terrorists otherwise called foreign oil companies like Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil etc…There is no war in Bayelsa or anywhere in the Niger Delta and all Soldiers should be in their Barracks or Sambissa where people are at risk of their heads cut off by Islamist terrorists.

However, the Police should investigate thouroughly to unravel who did this and bring them to justice as kwickly as possible. The Niger Delta has always been peace loving until Nigeria began illegal oil exploration in the lands…reducing places like Ogoni, Bodo, Brass etc to world pollution capitals.

And they pay billions of naira to atari dokubo, tompollo, tom eke and many more to reap off the country with thier embezzlement and yet they didn’t perform any work. We are in a state of transformation and PDP has nothing to offer the country again. Change is near and we shall surely get it this time

One alien Ms Alakija is reported as the richest woman in Africa. Her ‘wealth’ is a derivative of the morbid pollution and almost total annihilation of the ecology of the littoral Niger Delta /South South continent Nigeria….She had been generously allocated my oil blocks by IBB in the 90s …and no newspapers reported it….Even when the towns, cities and villages are polluted, these elements don’t bother, and not even a kobo of their blood money goes into cleaning up of the waters and hitherto beautiful landscape of my Niger Delta.

…all these happen…and over 90% of oil blocks in the Niger Delta were allocated to people from the North and West. Most honorable noble, Senator Enang, revealed this stark truth at the floor of the national assebly only last year…but it is the contract to Tompolo that all of you wan die put. Die now! If you like hang! Nonsense!

The contracts should have been given to Olumide or Yusuf. That would have been ideal. No be so? The way Lukman spent donkey years at petroleum ministry and no one complained…but since beautiful Diezanni enter, una no let her rest. Nonsense!!!

Regardless of what they call them, Pirates or Militants, these are criminals, they should be locked up for life. Yet, GEJ government pays billions to these criminals and expect to have peace in the land. No nation on earth gets peace when they reward criminals.
