19 killed in Gombe bomb blast — Police


Nineteen people have been killed in an explosion that occurred at a Motor Park in Gombe State, the police said.

The spokesperson for Gombe State police command, Fwaje Atajri, told News Agency of Nigeria that 25 others sustained various kind of injury in the explosion.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, however said the explosion killed 18 people while 21 others were injured.

In a separate statement signed by its spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, NEMA said all those affected have been evacuated and taken to Gombe State Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Mr. Ezekiel advised the public to be vigilant and report all suspected movements all person to security operatives.
The explosion occurred at a crowded motor park in Gombe town, residents said.

A journalist based in the state, Mallam Tildee, had told PREMIUM TIMES that the blast occurred at Dukku Motor Park early Monday.

A similar blast had occurred on October 31 at the Gombe Line motor park, killing 23 people including commuters, drivers and traders.
