Why I picked Osinbajo as my running mate– Buhari

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of Nigeria

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, has given reasons why he picked Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate as he bids again become Nigeria’s president.

While presenting Mr. Osinbajo to the media at the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja, Mr. Buhari said his running mate was chosen because of his impeccable integrity and excellent background.

“He is an excellent professional, a man of faith, a devoted family man and a role model to our fellow countrymen and women,” he said.

He also said Mr. Osinbajo is a professor of law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, adding also that he is an alumnus of the University of Lagos and the London School of Economics, a prodigious author who has to his credit several books on civil procedure in Nigerian superior courts.

“The vice-presidential candidate is a friend of the less-privileged, compassionate and zealous in service, a man of uncommon humility, a loyal, dependable and selfless patriot,” he said.

Mr. Buhari also stated that with his choice of deputy, the real task rescuing Nigeria and changing the country for good has just begun.

He promised to fulfil all the promises he made after his emergence as APC flag bearer and thanked all those who supported him in the process.

“The huge outpouring of support and acceptance has been a great encouragement to me and hardened my resolve to lead the process of rebuilding a new Nigeria and securing our future,” he said.

In a brief remark after his introduction, Mr. Osinbajo said he has accepted his nomination gladly and happily and thanked all concerned and stated that his selection as a vice presidential candidate by Mr. Buhari and the APC is a great honour.

“There can be no other president, leader and commander that can lead that common sense revolution which Nigeria urgently needs than Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. I will proudly serve this country with him,” he said.

Also speaking earlier, the national chairman of the APC, John Oyegun, who formally presented Mr. Buhari before the media as the candidate of the APC, also said with a full team on ground, the party is ready to kick start its campaign.

To the Lord be the glory. Saviours in the persons of Buhari and Osibajo have been ordained to save Nigeria from corruption and the likes.

      • Spoken word

        Amen to that

  • adekenny

May Almighty GOD help you! And bless Nigeria

  • Supo

If truly Bola Tinubu thinks much of Yemi Osinbajo, why did Bola Tinubu not nominate him as governor?

    • Dele Majekodunmi

Answer: Governorship in Action Congress was exclusively for Muslims only.
Under Bola Tinubu’s AC, Yorubaland was facing a clear and present Islamic danger

      • kokoro dudu

Olodo – Osinbajo is from Ogun State. It’s one thing to be a commissioner, it is another to be governor. Governors are selected through “votes” while commissioners are selected by executive power.

        • Benny

Is Ambode, Fashola, Tinubu from Lagos? Check your history books very well!

          • tundemash

where are they from and which history book is that ?

          • Duru

So the AC/APC Leader (Bola Tinubu) cannot nominate a governor of Ogun state under AC/APC?
If so, explain Raufu Aregbesola who worked in Tinubu’s cabinet at the same time with Yemi Osinbajo whom Bola Tinubu nominated as governor of Oshun state and openly backed, and, funded.

      • Titi

Tinubu path ways with many muslim Yorubas for his support to Ambode, a Christian and supported Osinbanjo for VP; the Yorubas were not known to play politics with religion until the satanic innovation of Jonathan n PDP. What unduly benefit has APC governors given to muslims in their states? use your toy for knowledge seeking pls

        • Proudly Ishmaelite

          May God bless you.

    • tundemash

….. Tinubu had choices and chose one then as Gov ….. everyone still believe Fashola would still have been a better choice but for the millions of religious fanatics like yourself who would rather see Fashola as a muslim instead of a performer, Osibajo was picked to nullify the religious card you guys have ben waving or years now.

Compare and contrast; OBJ chose two sick men in 2007; one had no kidney and the other had no brain nor balls, OBJ himself regrets now.

    • Yusuf

There are a million competent people but their will be only one Governor just as one VP. Try to give people what Tinubu has given them before u have the morality to abuse him

  • Peter Irene

Congrats Buhari. I wish you a very happy birth day while congratulating you also on your choice of a very credible running mate. With him Nigerians are looking forward to you to fight our No I common enermy Curruption. Because of Curruption there is no light. As I am writing my ” I pass my neighbour is making a hell of noise” the commonest death now is through Generator fumes. If Curruption is defeated many other things will follow ie employment, good roads, good medical care, security, strong institution. Our rating of 27% by transparency international will move to More than 80%. But now the like of Abati is happy for Nigeria 27% when of course he knows very well that this is a straight F. Please do something before you ie.

      nice talk

  • [MMXV]

Papa Buhari, did you really pick him or Tinubu picked him for you???
Now you see democracy is different from a military regime.
It took you and Tinubu A WHOLE WEEK TO PICK A VP!! Were you guys not thinking about this before???? Is this how long it will take u guys to make decisions by waiting to clear with the de-facto president Tinubu??
    What a shame..

    • tundemash

Whatever …. OBJ picked two sick men in 2007 two: o had no kidney and the other had no brain nor balls .

      • Olu Ade

“Compare and contrast; OBJ chose two sick men in 2007; one had no kidney and the other had no brain nor balls, OBJ himself regrets now.”

I cannot say it better…thank you.

Where is Femi Fani-Kayode now. Femi and his brother Femi Aribisala made such a heavy weather of APC’s Muslim/Muslim ticket. Fani-Kayode even wrote that he was leaving the APC because of the Muslim/Muslim ticket. Note that as at that time, APC did not even have a presidential candidate. Now that APC picked a practicing muslim and RCCG pastor as its presidential candidate and the vice respectively, will Fani-Kayode return to APC?
    Over to you Mr. Fani-Kayode.

    • Yusuf

dont worry he will soon rejoin us in APC since his fears have been alleviated; although the presidential pardon he received may delay him a little

  • bikky

It is well with my soul,it is well with my state,it is well with Nigeria, this is a good one. No religion, no sentiment,no tribalism,no idle talk,Just vote wisely. Vote MB and YO not sentiment, Vote wisely.

So where is the PhD Mr Kay Soyemi and other Islamic APC top guys are crediting him with? They almost fooled me again.

One APC zealot brandished the team as “General + PhD Professor = Nigeria’s Cure All”.

All along I know that every thing about Imam Buhari’s over-bloated campaign is ọ̀nà ìtànkálẹ̀ ati taqiyya.

  • Hackervirus
