Ogun deputy governor defects from APC, vows to unseat Amosun

Segun Adesegun

The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Segun Adesegun, on Thursday declared his interest to unseat the incumbent Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and his defection to the Social Democratic Party, SDP, ahead of 2015 elections

Mr. Adesegun defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Adesegun, who recently revealed the unhealthy relationship between him and his boss, Mr. Amosun, declared that what mattered to him now was moving the state forward by leading the people aright.

The deputy governor explained that the conflict between him and Mr. Amosun started shortly before their swearing-in ceremony in 2011.

He described his decision to contest for the governor of the state as personal.

He further revealed that the people have been calling on him to contest but not until he was convinced fit for the job, he had been turning down the request.

He clarified that his joining a party different from Mr. Amosun’s did not mean he would not perform his statutory duties as the deputy governor of the state.

Mr. Adesegun also disclosed that all the requests he made in a letter to the State House of Assembly on his relationship the governor had not been met.

“I don’t regret serving in the administration of Amosun,” he said. “In life there is always a challenge. It’s a challenge and life goes on,”

He dismissed the issues raised in his letter as ephemeral, noting that his decision to contest for the governor of the state was based on fundamental issues.

He explained that his decision would not have been different even if the requests had been met.

While noting that he had not yet been chosen as the standard-bearer of SDP, he assured the people of executing to the letter the manifesto of the party if eventually chosen as the party candidate and won the election.

This is another joker who is simply fighting for his own pocket. It is laughable that Adesegen is claiming that he want to put Ogun state right.Let him join hand together with his master Osoba and they shall be roundly defeated. You cannot unseat a performing governor.Amosu is doing a good job,he deserved a second term.

Thankfully, he won’t, at least not for long, be paid out of the public purse for doing nothing but sitting on his fingers as Deputy Governor of Ogun State.

Mr Dep Gov, in a clime where people still get swayed and blindly vote along party lines and sentiments, your ambition may be still born. Having said that, may I quickly add that SDP is unknown, unpopular and non existent; reconsider your party strategy, SDP belongs to the early 90’s, this is 2014/15. All the best anyways, hopefully you are seeing something we don’t

He is a traitor who was given an opportunity as DG but because of stomach infrastructure, he betrayed his heart. As for osoba, he has been a snitch because he was one of those guys who betrayed MKO with babaginda and the military, he is a dirty old man who has lost the respect of the Yoruba people. By His Grace, the incumbent Governor will shame osoba and his fellow coup plotters. What does osoba wants again after being governor? During his tenure, there was no significant progress he contributed to Ogun State but Gov. AMOSUN HAS DONE WONDERFULLY WELL.
