Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Alison-Madueke, emerges OPEC President

Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, and head of the country’s delegation to the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been elected the president of the international oil body.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, who makes history as the first female to be elected into the office, was elected just as members of OPEC began their meeting at the headquarters of the group in in Vienna, Austria.

She succeeds Libyan Vice-Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish.

Until her election, Mrs. Alison-Madueke, who would serve for one year, was OPEC’s alternate president.

She is expected to commence work immediately to pilot the affairs of the organization at a time members are coming together to find ways of curbing falling global crude oil prices, which dropped to about $73.07 per barrel on Wednesday.

Mr. Al-Ahirish had said at the opening of the private meeting that apart from the impact of speculative activities in the oil market, ample supply, moderate demand, a stronger value of the dollar and uncertainties about global economic growth, were the other key factors moderating price movement in the market in recent times.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, one of President Goodluck Jonathan’s closest allies, has been accused of mismanaging the oil sector in Nigeria and allowing corruption to thrive.

A 2012 House of Representatives report into the management of petrol subsidy blamed the minister for failing to stop dubious marketers from swindling the government to the tune of over N2 trillion.

The minister has been one the most criticised in Mr. Jonathan’s cabinet, and anti-corruption bodies had protested the move by OPEC to name her the new president of the oil bloc.

    Up Nigeria ……… Up GEJ

    GEJ forever !!!

    • Mr. Abdin

      Sorry for Nigeria.

    • Alcindo Satori

That’s right; up Nigeria! 4 more years OF GEJ!!

  • amazing2012

    Extension of oil bunkering !

  • Khadijah D.

Another blow to Nigeria. This woman will now shatter the remaining small image the country has. Dia’s God oooo

    • Alcindo Satori

Celebrate her success and you shall find success!

      • Khadijah D.

Which success? Missing 20m or subsidy fraud or private jet scandal?

        • Ken

erm, are you wiser than OPEC? If not, celebrate her success as you’ve been advised and you too will be successful. Otherwise, you’ll continue to wallow in unnecessary bitterness.

          • Edward

Do you understand International Politics. She got there because Nigeria is a member. And Nigeria has a say in OPEC. That is all How is that a “success”? If you are talking ETHICS and NOT ETHNIC, then Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke is NOT the kind of person any morally inclined Nigerian youth who wants to serve the public must emulate. But if you want to serve just your private pocket like Diezani Alsion -Madueke and Goodluck Jonathan and their ilks do immorally, then you have rights to follow them. It is your immoral choice.

          • Ken

Unfortunately, with all your English you are reasoning like they do in the bear parlour. Being a member does not guarantee that position, meriting it does. She merits it, accept it. Simple

          • Edward

Shut Up! Shut Up boy Reno Omokri e-rat. Shut Up, please this is not ogogoro creek talk. Can a country that does not produce Oil and that is not a member of an organization such as OPEC even nominate a member into an office? So shut up shut up shut up , you are un-intelligent. Too brainless to even engage this. This is not some lining up behind “our own”-Which “our own” be dat? You do not have a brain to engage. We cannot even have this conversation. I say this because for you to pretend to miss that such posts are politically rotated is the height of dubiousness or brazen display of un-intelligence. That thing you call head of OPEC is POLITICALLY rotated. So, I say shut up Ijaw, South South Niger Delta man. Do NOT even bring it up. This is NOT Ogogoro or apeteshi talk. You do not know what you are talking about. SHUT UP. If it is solely MERIT, Diezani Alison-Madueke will never be there-period. Not with the monumental guilt on him courtesy of the report of Ribadu Task Force On Petroleum Industry that indicated her. Please go and read that report. Your madam Diezani Madueke should have a copy. Ask her to give you a copy. So Shut UP. I say SHUT up because you are not even equipped to engage this. Your only cooncern is some dubious Niger Delta Solidarity-which is fine if limited to your creeks. But we are talking about more important ethical things that affect humanity beyond your villages and level. Okay?

          • Ken

Looooool, now this is a perfect example of a very bitter human being. I’m so happy am not in your category, it must be hell on earth to be alive and yet so bitter. SMH. I now have more reasons to thank God when I wake up in the morning.

          • the truth

My brother u dont need to respond to them.they are bitter ,hungry and angry.for someone to sau such a successful achievement is a failure is quite baffling.I wish them what they wish deziani

          • Edward

I say SHUT UP! I called you out on a serious discussion. I threw the challenge to you. It is obvious you are intellectually inept to handle it. And you want to dodge. Reno Wendel Omokri, I am not going to allow you dodge it. You collect money from them for you do here Reno Omokri. So I say take up the moral challenge, have a conversation and serious discussion OR SHUT UP! No ministers in modern democratic polities spend PUBLIC MONEY on members family the way Diezani Alison Madueke does so shamelessly. Please point out such polity-Paris?, New York? London? Tokyo? Rome? Accra? Johannesburg? None except Nigeria under the Ijaw President. So let us have that conversation on rational grounds or you shut up !-Period-No apology

          • Otile

Obasanjo served as oil minister for 8 donkey years, If your garbage is true why did OPEC close their nose on him? President Jonathan will server out his 8yrs, Yoruba bitterness notwithstanding.

          • endingNaija

We are talking about ETHICS here. This is not some village ethics. There is a simple test here . Can you please call on the report of the Ribadu Task Force on the Petroleum Industry under Alison-Madueke and Goodluck Jonathan? That is the simple question my friend. I will ignore your tribalism so that we do not confuse the issue. You cannot draw me into that. Please recommend the corruption your Madam Diezani Alison-Madueke sits on to any African youth and see how they will thump their noses. My friend we are talking about the fate of a race-black- fate of a continent-Africa- , the fate of a country-Nigeria, and NOT some village solidarity from the creeks. Where in the world do you see public figures spending PUBLIC MONEY on selves and members of family like President Jonathan and his ministers do? Please show which part Africa still does that.? You can queue behind your village immoral minister as long as you want. That is fine for people with village mentality, and that is fine for them. But the world has gone beyond that. In civilised societies, spend public money on self and family you are gone. But here with Goodluck Jonathan and his tribes men and women, it is the norm. Ride on boy with your Ogogoro-the world is watching!

          • Jafaru Isa

Oga! Na only u waka come?? Na hia u come hide??
You and your co-travelers Kay soyemi, sword of damocles, TundeMESS etc etc were conspicuously absent when the news broke your mentor ‘broke’ Buhari was ‘donating’ N1M in imo state!

          • Wähala

I was there to represent my team, go read my views on that. We are the “moral majority”…Oponu!

          • Khadijah D.

How does it affects my life? I pray she goes, so that we can.get someone incorruptible and able to handle the petroleum ministry. Good riddance to bad rubbish

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Pricewaterhouse is the most reputable accounting company on earth, they are investigating and will come out with a report…….already the Senate committee set up to investigate has declared that not a penny is missing .
Keep spreading your lies….tomorrow you go to Mosque and claim righteousness !!

    • PROF

You brothers up north have already shattered our image a long time ago. No be today.

      • Khadijah D.

Yea, by missing 20m, subsidy scandal, jet scandal…………… Etc

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

No !! 40billion dollar gulf war oil windfall and missing 2.8 billion which Buhari is yet to explain…to mention a few !

          • Khadijah D.

Hear urself $2.8 billion is more than Nigeria’s budget in 1985. When arguing, come up with substantial claims and not beer parlour idle talk

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Buhari was petroleum Minister in the late 70s under dictator OBJ….you need to understand that there was an oil boom in that period. The money vanished from our books and up till date Buhari have been protected from answering the had questions by his fellow Fulani oligarchs !!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Buhari was petroleum Minister in the late 70s under dictator OBJ,that was when 2.8 billion dollars vanished from our books into thin air. There was an oil boom in that period and till date Buhari has not given an explanation and have been protected from answering the hard questions by his fellow Fulani oligarchs.
He claimed not to have a foreign account but it was found not to be true as well,it is even claimed that IBB allegedly dug into the issue and has facts incriminating the man

    • Wähala

Nigeria has no image to shatter, we’re in the process of picking the pieces after we get rid of these Aborigines…
She will be shattered by Amadioha of Igboland if she fails to use OPEC’s money the way she abused her position in Nigeria… Ma’sha Allah!

  • Enemona

Corruption rewarded on a grande scale.

  • True Nigerian

Nigeria is certainly a country that is proud of corruption. If not so, tell me how else on earth that a public official that has the number of official indictments Mrs Madueke has on theft and corruption would be fronted as head of OPEC by her country.

Nigerians at home and abroad should stop getting angry each time they are referred to as citizens of a rotten country. Instead of wasting the energy spent on replying the accusers who are right, we should all focus our attention on dealing with our demons of bad leadership here at home. Yes, America, Britain, Russia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan all have corrupt people and politicians. But none of these countries goes as far as sending heavily indicted public officials to be the face of their country in the international community. It is an eyesore. This country feels at home with mindless corruption – a confirmation that we are in deep anomie. That is no longer the news. The issue now is on if and how this country can still be saved when most of its citizens are also seemingly not in a hurry to reverse the destructive vices and shamelessness of their leaders.

But then, justice is being served on us in the sense that our country is increasingly looking like the horror that our attitude justifies and sustains. No roads; no security; no electric power despite exponential rise of costs in electric bills; no justice in the courts; no governance; no good quality education; imported fuel in a country that exports crude oil, despite regular expense of billions of dollars on turn around maintenance of so-called refineries; children hawking items on busy highways because their parents (if they still have any in an insecure country where parents can die like a chicken) can’t afford to put them in decent schools; millions of Nigerians now refugees either in their own country or in Cameroon, Niger or Chad; shambolic deadly healthcare standard in a country that earned more than a trillion dollars (both declared and undeclared) over the last 16 years; but the legislators are earning more than the President of the US and the Prime Minister of UK put together, just as the President eats with hundreds of million per year (officially) whilst he defends the waste of N10b on jet rental by his own appointee – as if she is regularly flying into the international space station. More than 80 million unemployed or under-employed youths in the prime of their life.

Yet, people are ethnocentrically cheering the perpetrators of that delorable state of existence and stone-age living standard. When you look at it, you’ll know that our country is a reflection of our collective animalistic “idyocy” as a people. I don’t care what your tribe or ethnicity is. There must be something seriously wrong with every Nigerian ethnicity, which is why the same culture of stealing and being proud of it is found across every level of public leadership in the country and cheered by the victims in those places. If it makes you angry, do something about it…now! Speak up, speak to your loved ones, speak to your neighbours, friends, associates, colleagues, co-worshippers; challenge everyone of them to do something about our collective deplorable sense of what is right and what is wrong; challenge them to think differently about governance and leadership. Challenge them to rise above the squalor of ethno-religious thniking on leadership issues.

  • Ken

Congrats madam. Very very well deserved.

    • smith

      why not? Corruption begets corruption.

  • endingNaija

Congratulations, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke. And since on behalf of your appointee-President Goodluck Jonathan- you are a sickening symbol of corruption in Nigerian Oil Industry, and since if something is good we as humans ought to reproduce it, therefore, I hope you will reproduce your personal immoral trade mark-your corrupt immoral trade mark in OPEC. Please talk with Mrs Stella Odua so that you both will exchange notes on HOW TO BE CORRUPT and both of you will construct FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON HOW TO BE CORRUPT. First thing you must do is to use OPEC money to buy a private jet for yourself and family so that they do not need to fly in and out of OPEC headquarters in rented jet. Second after your term anytime you should sell -the same jet you used OPEC money to buy- to a member of your family. This is one of the ways you will leave your trade mark and immoral legacy in OPEC. Once again, congratulations for a huge immoral reward for immorally serving President Goodluck Jonathan ceaselessly and consistently with all your immoral mind and strength. Congrats!

She will take her corruption and looting activities to the international level… goodluck to OPEC. Expect another disgrace for Nigeria!

    • Otile

As long as she is not Yoruba, Hausa Fulani or Musulima haters will always try to run her down. God will continue to bless her.

      • endingNaija

As long as she is corrupt(please ask Ribadu who is now a member of your party-PDP-to give you his report on the petroleum Industry), she will be scrutinized and asked hard questions until Nigeria falls apart and is no more-you can then have any corrupt person in your own country. But as long as we have a Nigeria every minister including the Ijaw President-Goodluck Jonathan will be scrutinized.

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

She was vetted by the world’s best before the appointment. Go get a glass of an intoxicating wine and take care of your livid sorrows . The deed is done, she is the occupier of the world’s most important energy position,no amount of bad-bellus can chance it,she is the first woman ever !!

      • Wähala

The post is ceremonial, the koko is… OPEC’s Sec. General. Quit lying for just one minute!

      • Edward

You must be very IGNORANT! Such posts are politically rotated. Small boy, what vetting are you talking about when it is about political rotation.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are the brainless one !! Every appointment in OPEC runs through a process of which vetting is an essential part of .
Even if it is rotational ….go and check !

    • Wähala

Don’t mind that lapdog Tawanda Incorrigible…
Nobody vetted Diezani for the position. In fact, the koko is OPEC Sec. General which the late Dr. Rilwan Lukman held for years during OBJ years. They’re celebrating a meaningless rotational presidency, don’t blame them in an atmosphere of nothingness. Dr. Dumbo has nothing to display so any positive news is major news to Gejitoes, online e-mosquitoes. They don’t even know that World Energy Outlook, the most respected rating outfit in her industry has just released a damning report out investment outlook in the sector she manages for Nigeria… Mumus in Mumudom!

  • the truth

The haters would continue to wallow.this is a big achievement.she is recognized globally for her selfless service.congrats madam and may god continue to bless u

Oh yes “recognized” on an un-ethical credential. Yes the un-ethical will praise you-Diezani Alsion-Madueke- and the ethical will ask you hard ethical questions!

    • Wähala

What’s her achievement? Has the PIB been passed? Even as pump prices are falling globally, is fuel any cheaper in Nigeria? How has her being petro minister affected your life… and how will her being OPEC President affect your life? Tell your OgaOgogoro not to use it as campaign slogan oo! Alhaji Lai got tear’m into pieces if e try capitalize on a meaningless position, since he has nothing to point to as his achievement, but stealing other peoples’ works… ode!

      • the truth

I don’t see you engaging anyone else either, because apparently everyone has dismissed you as the common wetback liar you are when you claimed, “I am a member of US foreign policy team…” Monkey eying an iroko tree. Shame no dey your face to even reappear after @Don Carlos stuck it to you. I followed your disjointed argument with him with a bottle of odeku, enjoying his battering of a slimy aborigine chameleon like you. You’ve got no choice chump, as long as you and Deri ati Reno (under any name) keep marketing your corrupt shoeless creek crook, you will have me to contend with… Again, live a clean life. Baztard!

        • endingNaija

I think Ribadu is a member of your party -PDP-now. Please ask Ribadu for his report on the petroleum industry which proves Diezani Alison-Madueke’s guilt and culpability. The Ribadu report is a beer parlour news I guess Reno Tawanda Omokri na the truth- right?

  • Otile

Thank God. If Obasanjo was still President cum Oil Minister there is no way OPEC would make him their President. This is a big achievement for her and for Nigeria. Haters can go to hell, the world lovers her work.

    • Wähala

      Otile nnanna,
the position is rotational. na our-turn-to-schop basis… so, na our turn to be OPEC President, shikena!

      • Otile

You mean if your uncle OBJ was still both president and oil minister from 1999 till day OPEC would rotate the post to him. I tell you what, this is not federal character, or quota system where you Yorubas would collude with Fulanis to take up juicy positions leaving the oil producers without.

  • Wähala

    Our stolen $20bn in action…
Congratulations! Golden Goose… Our bug-eyed Minister of Pertoleum cum corruption czarina in Dumbo’s Cabinet. One can only hope that she doesn’t use OPEC’s kudi to hire private jets and go window-shopping in London, New York ati Tokyo. Dat na “streng verboten” as we say in Deutschland. However, with Prof. Joy Ogwu at the helm of UN Sec. Council, Dr. Ngz. Iweala recently named Africa’s Finance Minister of the year, and with Dr. Oby Ezekwesili on the 100 most influential list, toss-in Mrs Fayemi ati Iweala again on Forbes list… I still insist, it’s time to put a woman a breath away from being President. We’ve got the material and the men have fcuked-up far too long. A woman VP will bring some balance in the equilibrium of power. Shaa, again, congratulations, Mdm. Bug-eyes… shioo, e no easy. Hopefully, Dr. Dumbo won’t see this ceremonial appointment as proof his government is delivering dividends of democracy… like he said Alhj. Dangote being on the richest list means his economic policies are working. “Nigeria is not poor, only the money is not being shared equally” – Dr. Jona Dumbo

    • warry

Even if you are made president, anybody can also give you names without substantiating. It has become an embarrassing national pastime and a disservice to the country that most of us indulge in giving whoever holds a prominent political office names ,We accuse them of corruption thinking that will create opportunities for us to also go and steal. If we truly want to fight corruption we would check each other in our various offices and expose corruption with raw evidence. No one Nigerian can stay in ASO Rock Villa and see all the unwholesome activities going on all over the country

      • Wähala

        My friend,
Four separate committees of both Houses have recommended her SACK but Dumbo cannot because they’re in it together. Dumbo signed-off on OPL245 aka, Malabu. His wife was fingered in money-laundering charges by Ribadu even before they came to Abuja. Ol’ boi, there is no way to substantiate incompetence than what Dumbo is advertising with his war on terror; no substantiation needed to prove he has not charged any of his pals fingered in the fuel-subsidy scam supervised by this same Diezani. the proof for divisiveness is, “Yoruba Muslims/Christians” coined for the first time under the creek crook. That’s just the tip of the iceberg that justifies:
        “Dr. Clueless”…on Security
“Kingpin of Corruption”…Malabu, Pension Fund, Fuel-subsidy, $20bn heist, N10bn jet hire, Oduagate, etc
“Ijaw President”…According to Asari, Ed. Clark. Pastor Bosun Emmanuel’s, “Yoruba Christians” hate CD.

        • Smith Scott

It is Dumbo that also made her president of OPEC not merit. May Wahala follow you for life

          • Wähala

Curses are words in the wind, if they mean anything, I would long be dead by now…
Muguhead, the position she occupies at OPEC is rotational, it Nigeria’s turn and it follows that she assumes the role. It has nothing to do with her credibility otherwise…

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

I am very convinced that the lies you spread will catch up with you soonest !!

          • Wähala

Who lies himself out of relevance, biko? If I’m relevant, why would I want to use lies to destroy my hard-earned respect? See why I insist, “Thinking is not for everyone”…you must be banned from thinking!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The Senate select committee has already published a report that no 20 billion is missing,Pricewaterhouse is going through the books of NNPC in a daring fit of transparency and Sanusi has retreated from his position yet you spread lies all over the place !

          • Wähala

Why won’t a Senate headed by David Mark exonerate her… didn’t you read Baba Iyabo’s lecture points over the weekend? Are you not curious as to why the Sen. Makarfi-led Cmte rushed to judgment without the PriceWaterHouse Report being released? Only a phool like you will swallow such rubbish. Discerning Nigerians know better… bcos we remember even Makarfi asked Nigerians to wait for the forensic report, only to pre-empt it with a cooked-up Senate hearing. Punk, I wasn’t born yesterday!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

I would rather listen to the Senate committee which is comprised of members from all political parties,I would rather listen to Pricewaterhouse, the world’s most reputable auditing company.
….But I will not listen to a disgruntled, vindictive, wicked, ugly, incestuous, senile octagenarian who lies that he is in his 70s. Wole Soyinka is 80,compare their photographs during the civil war,you will see that OBJ was much older than him and they are from the same place.

        • Otile

Sorry, hatred for Ijaw and Igbo has gripped you. What are you going to do about it? Wether you like it or not we have come to stay. Your fathers Awolowo, and Adekunle did not wipe us out neither can you.

Her achievement is no doubt a boost for Nigeria. Alhaji Rilwanu Lukman held the position of OPEC Secretary General for several years under IBB regime. It is said that OPEC members are open to Nigeria producing the next secretary general but madam prefers to be on the ground in Nigeria rather than cold Vienna.

I am happy to announce to you that I have in my possession a profoundly efficient hanging rope for those of you who wished she was not appointed…and guess what? The rope is free. If you like though, run into a fast moving train, Lorry or even an Antonov….Bad belle people.

You would have wished it were Fayemi who was sleeping on N50m bed in a poor & beggarly state like Ekiti. The same clown is the one APC is preparing for a ‘National position’ in its Islamic Party…and there is no hullabaloo about his stealing & personal aggrandizement while in public office. Is beautiful princess Diezani half as corrupt as that small boy thief called Bank-Ole? Is she one tenth as corrupt as Farouk De Dollar & Otedola who were sharing my Niger Delta resources at unholy hours of 4.30am in Abuja?

Do you know how much monies were mismanaged at ITT? That saga was the origin of corruption in millions in Nigeria. The 2 Principal actors are well known. One has been President & the other died trying to be. Only Fela had courage to speak and sang a song – “International Thief Thief”…but those 2 who were involved were yours…and you revered and protected them…now you shout, ‘Bigot’!….Do you even understand the the meaning of that word? …Didn’t you hear of the true confessions of OBJ’s bribery machines & how they took N50m to Ige before sending to land of no return? …and OBJ is appointed ECOWAS or OAU election monitoring whatever, and we no hear your protest……na Diezani body una for get mouth to talk. Orhue! Now you can hang…and make sure you die before u come down.

Beautiful poem like that na him you dey complain for. Nonsense!

      Abeg wait till 2015!

      • Wähala

Why should it? I know her to be corrupt, but I’ve also known her from our Maryland days, she was corrupt then. My only prayer is let her run OPEC the way she has been running NNPC and you will see what will happen to her black ahss… tief!

        • Edward

Yes wahala Diezani Madueke to run OPEC the Naija way the way she runs NNPC by using OPEC money to buy private jet for the use of members of her family and re-selling the same private jet to the same members of family after her term in OPEC!!!-the Naija way!!! I can understand why Diezani Alison-Madueke tribesmen and women think corruption is a joke-we are dealing with a high sense of amorality with these people-they just do not get it.

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Go to Oshodi, buy a long rope and hang !
The first woman ever to occupy the most important energy position on earth !!

      • Wähala

As her to run OPEC the way she has run NNPC… shikena!

  • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

It’s such a shame that PREMIUM TIMES did not find this news worthy of occupying the front headlines instead it is hidden away in small prints.
    De bad-belle plentyooooo !!

    • endingNaija

Shut up your mouth. The truth is that the news of the appointment of an irredeemably morally and socially corrupt woman Diezani Alison-Madueke-and the corrupt eye of President Jonathan in the Nigerian petroleum industry MUST NOT occupy the front page of a decent newspaper. What do you think serious minds are doing? Line behind people clannishly? Oh my God! The news of the appointment of an inherently corrupt and immoral woman must be treated as a footnote it rightly deserves.

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

        Shame !!

        • endingNaija

On the villagers and clansmen who line up behind corruption just because of some village solidarity!!!

          • elmok

            on you for unpatriotic comment

          • endingNaija

there is a huge honorable difference between sound ethical position and your OILY creek village tribal stone age “patriotism” Reno Tawanda elmok Omokri you can have your Ogogoro village clannish and clansmen and women “patriotism”-I prefer a high ethical position of the modern world to some tribal and village solidarity. We are dealing with a high moral and civilised call here and not some uncouth Ogogoro mouthed issues!!!

          • elmok

hahahaha the same uncouth ogogoro mouthed as you say is making nigeria proud the first woman ever in the whole world to be the president of opec ,where your entire budget as a nation is based on

          • endingNaija

OPEC is NOT a “world” organization my friend. How many countries are in OPEC? O h my God what kind of illiteracy are we dealing with here? I can now see why the Jonathan govt /presidency is so illiterate . Stop your village mentality where you must clutch onto a life boat as a result of your state of immoral abyss. The last time I checked OPEC is Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries-NOT UN. So? if you have oil (like US) and you are confident enough NOT to want to join OPEC, then you do not join OPEC. For example Nigeria does not even have the QUANTITY of OIL the US or Russia has. Yet , Nigeria is a member of OPEC and US is NOT. Same thing with Russia my friend. Therefore, How can you suddenly wake up from your Ogogoro sleep in the creeks and say “First woman in the whole world…” which world? “OPEC “world””-yes. This illiteracy and inferiority complex will kill you Jonathan people. First woman among OPEC countries… yes that is factual. And if in your illiterate mind, you are talking about world, then say “First woman in the OPEC “world” …” Now let me educate you further about “world”. OPEC membership oscillates between 12/13/-countries. Just google since NOTHNG is hidden in the world. These are your OPEC member countries-Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Quatar, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Kuwait, Libya, Iraq, United Arab Emirates,Just google my friend and see for yourself. OPEC is a trading cartel. How then do you delude yourself and talk about “World” in order to allude to and impute some dubious “merit” into the immoral case of the most corrupt minister in Goodluck Jonathan’s govt-Diezani Alison-Madueke. Use your eyes and look at the OPEC countries your Diezani Madueke has been appointed to work for. Do these countries look like the “world” and or look like countries that form an organization that makes individual merit of their President the sole determinant of appointment? Nope! The only criterion for appointment of a president is POLITICAL. It is no different from your quota system which is a POLITICAL thing. How can someone who got something by quota says he/she got it solely by merit? if you are talking of the engine room of the organization-the Secretary General , then you are talking. Presidents of such organizations like OPEC are rotational and they are rotated politically. Independent of your Diezani Alison Madueke-this mode of choosing their president means nothing. It does not take anything away from the post. It does not mean the post is bad or whatever. But for you to now jump and want to claim that Diezani Madueke got a “competitive” or highly “selective” job IN THE WORLD because Diezani Alison Madueke has merit, you must be very very very ignorant. It shows that you are in such an immoral abyss, an immoral sinking hole, you are looking for anything, just anything to hold onto. Go and read my friend and stop deluding yourself. Anyway, we hope your Diezani Madueke will not do what she did with NNPC , turn public resources to private use. Please tell her not to go there and disgrace us morally through her legendary and innate corruption-because people will talk about Nigeria and not about her if her corrupt fingers are caught!

          • elmok

Consult your dictionary to give you the meaning of illtracy. Before you call someone illiterate I don’t know you but I believe you are an hausa man that did up to primary seven in school so it’s not your fault, you were not properly educated to understand the difference. ,Gej us here trying to educate you again but you choose to remain stagnant thinking you are sound upstairs sorry

          • endingNaija

Reno Wendel Omokri na encore na elmok- next time you post, please spell properly. Okay? You wrote “illtracy”. That is NOT the spelling. Second, you are an illiterate because you lack the knowledge of basic organizational forms in restricted multilateral and multi-country setting like OPEC. That OPEC is a multilateral and multi country cartel does not give you the license to take liberty with words and their meanings!!! When you said “whole world” for a 13 country multilateral/multi-country trading cartel, you inflicted serious injury on meaning. And that is why you Reno Wendel Omokri na elmok na encore na otile na oleku na Tawanda -you are an illiterate of the most hopeless order. To help you so that you add some knowledge to your slim and slender knowledge, I guess you think literacy means just the ability to type some Ijaw and English words and sentences. No it is more than that. That you can type some words in English and Ijaw and post does not make you a literate person in the total sense of literacy. Hope that helps you my stark illiterate conversationalist. Small boy even if they give you the usual OILY corrupt money and you took some creek Ogogoro before rushing to type your usual garbage , try to respect your elders next time-okay?

          • elmok

you did not answer my question ,look at your dictionary first on the word illiterate before blabbing this is my last response to all haters of GEJ and democracy next please

          • endingNaija

elmok na Reno Omokri na otile na the truth na oleku na encore na Tawanda , I have the following questions for you (i) Are you literate in Global and International politics? Is your education and literacy in them theoretical and practical or did you pick gossips about these issues in Ogogoro shops in the oily creeks and then pretend to be literate and educated in them? (ii) Since you are one of the public relations officer the corrupt Diezani Alison-Madueke, are you literate enough in global corporate ethics such that you know global corporate bodies have zero tolerance for corruption hence you need to alert your OILY Madam Diezani Alison-Madueke to be careful when she gets to OPEC? Are you literate and well read in these areas? Since you are so illiterate you cannot write without having the dictionary beside you, did you check for the spelling of “illtracy” in your dictionary?

BREAKING NEWS: Oil prices plunges after OPEC selects Nigerian Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke as President…

The price of oil has plunged to its lowest in over two years at $72/pb after the organization of oil producing countries (OPEC) chose Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, as their new President. This follows on the heels of World Energy Outlook, the industry watchdog, recently downgraded foreign investment in Nigeria’s natural gas sector. Mozambique and Angola are now more attractive destinations due to the enabling environment in those countries and the transparency of their Ministers of Petroleum. Meanwhile, OPEC has refused to cut production which translates to higher supply meaning lower cost in elementary economics… but not so Nigeria! Where the pump price of fuel has remained astronomically high for a top oil-producing country, and Africa’s largest producer of crude ati natural gas. Wallahi, Ma’sha Allah, Ms. Alison-Madueke will run OPEC the way she ran Nigeria’s NNPC so the world body will experience what Nigerians have been crying about throughout her scandal-ridden tenure.

What a wicked restless mind…….You will get a stroke thinking about this woman !!

      • George

He already has stroke bad belly people tinubu agent enemy of progress

  • taewo

The real head of OPEC is the Secretary General. She’s there by virtue of her position as Nigeria’s oil minister and once Jonathan leaves next year, she will no longer be entitled to it.

  • favourtalk

What does that bring to the nigeria market?? More money or development?? Who knows how many billions they used to bribe people before she could get the post, at the end of the day, she will use all the benefit on her family and GEJ….we need to wake up and say no to all this looters of our democracy

  • Modern Nigeria

I wonder why some people are just ranting here. The fact that one of our own from Nigeria and a woman for that matter got the position calls for jubilation. Yes, the system might be corrupt but let us jubilate of getting there as a country. Some might not understand what I mean but the very time you step out of Nigeria, you will see the need for us to play the international politics.

Have you asked why America nose around in different countries? People see them as looking for troubles and snooping into issues. Its all international political game, which Nigeria also needs to step in. Here, the entire West Africans are happy that someone from the region got the position and the real owners- Nigerians- are busy calling for her removal, very shameful!
