Nigeria 2015: Tinubu praises Tambuwal for suspending presidential ambition

Bola Tinubu

A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, for withdrawing from the race for the party’s presidential ticket.

Mr. Tambuwal had, on Tuesday, suspended his presidential ambition barely one week after some of his colleagues in the House purchased the party’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for him.

“Having consulted widely, taking into consideration the concerns of some elders of the party, I have decided to suspend my participation in the presidential contest now,” the Speaker said in a statement.

“I have done so as a sacrifice for the cohesion and unity of the APC. I am suspending my participation in the presidential race for now because I do not have any inordinate ambition to occupy any office.”

In a statement by his media office on Wednesday, Mr. Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, said Mr. Tambuwal’s bold decision to suspend the pursuit of his presidential ambition is cast in the mould of wise political decisions that set the tone for positive and progressive thinking so badly needed to lift our country up.

“This sacrifice you have made will not be in vain. It must be noted by all democrats across the country as an act of great patriotism,” he stated. “We all appreciate the position you have taken and the sacrifice you have made. There are lessons to be learnt from all that is unfolding towards building a better future. This is noted by the party and Nigerians.”

Mr. Tinubu added: “You have demonstrated the true spirit of democracy. You have indeed shown the way to all other party members on the kind of sacrifice expected of them. You are a good example to the young and old and the leading lights of our party.”

Mr. Tinubu noted that rather than pursue a selfish ambition, the Speaker humbly submitted himself to the service of the common good.

He that whatever anyone might say, the speaker had made history.

The former governor said since Mr. Tambuwal joined the APC, the party had become stronger.

He stated, “You have brought strength to our party through a political profile that is unrivalled. Having travelled through over 300 federal constituencies, the widespread support you enjoy across the country validates you as a leader for our generation and a political asset for our great party.

“Undoubtedly, you have what it takes to lead this country to a better future and we take note of your astuteness, brilliant political trajectory and preparedness for higher service,” Mr. Tinubu said. “Your sacrifice for the cohesion of the party and a greater Nigeria will go down in history as one of the greatest pragmatic and progressive political sacrifices ever made in the politics of our country.”

Tambuwal will be president of the federal republic of Nigeria someday, God willing

    • jagajaga

yeah… federal republic of chad/niger is what you mean ha?!

  • aiyekotto

    …there is a time for everything…

  • True Nigerian

Well done, Tambuwal. Atiku, you’re next. Please do it quickly, Atiku. Yes, we all want change, but I don’t know how I am going to tell people that a Haliburton bribery candidate is better than Jonathan. I can’t, I simply can’t make that argument. That is in addition to your image of jumping from one party to another as soon as the election is over. So, oga Atiku, please step down…now! Enough of this distraction. APC needs to settle on its candidate as soon as possible. So, Atiku, kindly stop distracting the movement for change. You dn’t have the reputation required to send Jonathan back to where his oversized shoes will fit him as a local government chairman in Otuoke or as an accomplice of common criminals like Tompolo and Asari! Atiku, please save us the energy and time by stepping down…now! There is no time to waste!

    • Sword of Damocles

Your first sentence is classical. I laughed soooo hard. You did not waste any time after thanking the Speaker. I go die ooh. Have you noticed with comedians that when they say things that have twinges of truth in them, those are their funniest lines, and i think why what you said is so funny is because it is also the truth, Adamawa Turakin CANNOT be the leader of a New Nigeria, for were? This is all very exciting, I suspect the “history of the times” now circa 2014 must at least rival the “history of the times” in the 60’s when Nigeria went through the “teething pains” of a nascent Nation

      • True Nigerian

Hahaha! My brother, wetin man go do na? Make we dey pray as we dey work hard. We may deliver our country and ourselves from this shame and bondage.

EX – SPEAKER AMINU TAMBUWAAL IS BUHARI’S CASUALTY ….. THAT’S WHAT FASHOLA IS GRUMBLING ABOUT

The Buhari’s of this world will not allow this generation to have their time.

A good example is Speaker Aminu Tambuwaal who many in APC see as a promising politician that has what it takes to lead the party in the 2015 General Elections …… but have now been forced to drop out of the race because of the participation of 72+years old Buhari ….. what a shame

    FASHOLA GRUMBLES:
“When 40-year olds are now leading nations and our 40-year olds can’t even get to the Senate, they can’t even become governors. Are we really preparing this generation for the future? Those are the issues really. We cannot point to success in other countries and refuse to do what those people are doing to get things right.”

(Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos State coded message to Buhari whose official age is 72+ while his true age is in the range: 83 – 87 years)

all democrats across the country as an act of great patriotism,” he
stated. “We all appreciate the position you have taken and the sacrifice
    you have made.”

Ebola Tinubu is a very funny man. Here you conducted an intensive interview from a pool of applicants and settled with the best candidate. Then the candidate bought the required application form, filled it out, submitted, now you dismissed his competitors, touting your dick that you have made the best choice about who will do the job. A few days later your new hire finds out that he is incapable of doing the job, and throws in the towel and wimps out.

You come out in public bragging; praising the wimp for the sacrifice he made for not doing the job. What a hypocrite! Why not say: good riddance for bad rubbish?

  • Olusegun Olawonyi

What’s with all this over exaggeration coming from Tinubu about Tambuwal?

    • Dr. Kay

Are you a mind reader now ?if so what is my mind thinking about you now?.”…..”……… Yes you read it correctly i(that is you) are stoopid for not engaging them in the write up but coming quickly to the absurd conclusion I wrote above.

  • favourtalk

That’s the truth, a man who doesn’t put his ambition ahead of nigeria success and transformation. We need a better country not personal greed and ambition.

    • emmanuel

      This is a big lie.

They set up this scheme to enable them convince other aspirants to drop their ambition for Buhari. Atiku could be their major target, since he is insisting he must run the course to the end.

Afterall, the Tambuwal hyoe was for less than two weeks.

Kwakwanso may bulge, but Atiku would not. Meanwhile, Rochas is inconsequential and Atiku will win the primaries against Tinubu calculation. But Atiku will not win more than four states compared to Buhari who may win about nine states

      • Oweja

You are an eminent thinker for APC! Clap for yourself, man!

      • Mosaku 147

Mr know all, kpele ooooooo. Sho gba e! I thought you are suppose to be campaigning for Jonathan and PDP not pork nosing in who and how other parties select their candidate.
So if what you have written were to be true, wetin concern una?
