Jonathan declares second term bid, vows to defeat Boko Haram with all ‘humanly possible’

President Goodluck Jonathan officially declared his bid for a second term Tuesday, with a pledge to do all “humanly possible” to defeat Boko Haram, a day after a suicide bomber killed dozens of school children in a packed assembly hall in Yobe State.

Police said the attack in Government Senior Science Secondary School, Potiskum, killed 47 people and injured 79 others.

Addressing party supporters at the Eagles Square in Abuja Tuesday, where he declared to contest the 2015 elections, Mr. Jonathan said the killings, one of many, has clearly “cast a dark cloud” on Nigeria.

But he said Nigeria, under his watch, will defeat a bloody five-year-old insurgency by Boko Haram which is suspected of being behind the school bombing.

“Many Nigerians have lost their lives and property to these mindless killings,” Mr. Jonathan said. “A number of young men and women have been kidnapped by these criminal elements including our daughters from Chibok. We will free our daughters and defeat terrorism.”

Mr. Jonathan said his government, which has come under intense criticisms over its handling of the crisis, was currently equipping the armed forces and deploying Special Forces to fight Boko Haram and end the “senseless war”.

“We must protect our country. We must save our people. I will do everything humanly possible to end this criminal violence in our Nation,” he said.

Declaring for another term, Mr. Jonathan listed what he said his government achieved in the past four years, and told the crowd he decided to contest the 2015 presidential election after seeking the face of God, in a quiet reflection with his family.

“Therefore, after seeking the face of God, in quiet reflection with my family and having listened to the call of our people nationwide to run, I, Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, have accepted to re-present myself, on the platform of The Peoples’ Democratic Party, for re-election as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the 2015 general elections,” he said.

The president recounted how he, alongside the governors of Lagos and Rivers State, and other Nigerians, united to fight Ebola.

“Just as we stopped Ebola, we are on our way to eradicating Polio in Nigeria” “I promise that I will not handover Polio to anyone”.

He said he has established 14 new Universities out of which two are specialised. “Under my watch, every Nigerian state has a Federal University,” he sai‎d. He said he has established 150 almajiri schools in the north.
‎The president said the Dangote group has invested US$1 bn on rice production and that in time, Nigeria will become a net exporter of rice.

Mr. Jonathan said he has eradicated corruption in the agricultural sector and that the success will be extended to other sectors. He said he will double his effort in the fight against corruption and that corrupt government officials will begin to face justice.

‎He said his government has succeeded in eliminating long queues at fuel stations through consistent provision of petroleum products to Nigerians.

Mr. ‎Jonathan said he has started a “revolution” in the housing sector that will enable millions of Nigerians to become first time house owners. Currently, 66,000 mortgage request from young Nigerians is already being processed, he told his supporters.

‎He said his government has completed the dredging of the River Niger from Baro in Niger state to Warri in Delta state.

‎On power, Mr. Jonathan said his government has pursued reforms to “an irreversible progress”‎ and that additional hydro power stations are being built in Zungeru and Manbila.

‎Mr. Jonathan said he was grateful for the trust reposed on him by many Nigerians, and thanked Nigerians for their understanding over the Boko Haram insurgency in the north east.

Thank you.the best description of the man and the administration.

      • Mr. Abdin

        I dey laughooooooooooooooooooo

  • Edward Osadebay

What an achievement. Six solid years of waste and the man still wants to continue the wastage. What is wrong with Jonathan, has he not heard that under his watch more three million Nigerians are displaced from their communities and livelihoods. Strange forces are mounting their flags in North east and yet the man wants to run, how very callous.

  • omo naija

    jona till 2019

  • PROF

Gej has my vote, not cos he has done well ,but in the interest of self preservation and the sanctity of human life,I shall do the needful ,for the nothern elite sponsors of bokoharm, taking a childs life is the height of immortality.

    • Es3

      You got it here!

In addition to it effrontery of wanting to intimidate another out of what he rightly holds an equal share in, done flagrantly with the mien of “ot must us to be right?!!! This, as a Nigerian, I will never accept!

Many hardly know that this is also directly hinged on the oil blocs licenses that are due for renewals from 2015 to 2018!!!

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Even the Boko-haram insurgence is about the oil blocs due for review, the Fulani cannot continue to directly and indirectly control 80% of Nigeria’s productive oil blocks with their imperialist looting accomplices..little wonder Nigeria’s war on terrorists does not get the support of some world powers.
THE REAL REASON IS THE FEAR OF LOSING OIL BLOCS FRAUDULENTLY USURPED BY THE FULANI OLIGARCHS !……….Most Yoruba do not understand what is at stake, they are blinded by propaganda from BAT (OANDO) who also indirectly robs an oil bloc !

      • Realnigerian

Oil blocks that bears no direct benefit to you. and you want to kill your self for people that don’t care. Or do you have an OML license?

        • Es3

This retort is so revealing on your person?!!!

To you, until the oil blogs are located in your own land or backyard, then it would matter??? Quite revealing in deed!!!!

Little wonder we can never belong to the same world?!!!

    • Realnigerian

As long as GEJ is the President of Nigeria. He is responsible for every Nigerian child or adult killed during this BH war. – Where do you guys (PROF, Es3, Tawanda) grow up. In the swamps? Are there no books? no schools? no electricity? GEJ is responsible for that. GEJ’s two main responsibilities Security, Fighting corruption. He has outperformed every other presidents? Right? Yes or No? Or maybe you think you are in different country.

      • PROF

I can’t stop you from taking the life of your children in your house at night.

        • Realnigerian

A singular answer for a complex question from a simple mind. I am sure you are pounding your chest.

I used the word “Security” When the life of any Nigerian child is taken within Nigeria or even outside Nigeria. Ultimately, GEJ is responsible. Illiteracy is a disease, but I did not know it is this bad.

Dont worry, another 4 years of GEJ should help Yes Carry Go GEJ. We love you Daddy GEJ. You are our saviour. Our Messiah. Up GEJ!!!!. Your people support you.

          • PROF

Understanding basic analogies can be quite these days. My apologies !

  • Yemi

He has brought back his Azikwe name after four years of dropping it so as to demonstrate his Igbo lineage. You can as well add Omobòwálé and Garuba so as to reflect all the tribes

    • Es3

What do you really know about the origin of that name and Jonathan’s lineage???

  • adnoy

Erratic power supply, unemployment, poor housing and infrastructure and insecurity are perhaps his achievements of the past four years

  • Mosaku147

Supporters, please tell us his achievement because the dumb doesn’t seem to know his own achievements.

    • Mr. Abdin

My friend you are right it seems the dummy is confused.

    • Es3

If you have seen any, then you sure need help not just with your eyes, but your brain as well!!!

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Please first tell us the achievements of the Fulani looters who governed for almost 40 years ?

  • Atom Ant

The Living God is One who watches over His words to perform them. I wonder if He will then encourage non-performers to continue another term of non-performance. Please, Nigerian politicians, leave the Living God out of your declarations. Your deeds are EVIL!

  • Chris1408

What a joke. He wants four more years to fight Boko Haram. For the first and only time in Nigeria history, two flags are flying over Nigeria and two lunatics are running the country. Give him another four years Boko Haram will take over the whole country.

    • Es3

Do you know the history of this country at all, or you you are just being mischievous on your two flags claims here???!

  • the truth

I just wonder if there was no boko haram, i just wonder if there was no corruption in nigeria, i just wonder if there was stable electricity, i just wonder if there were jobs for teaming youths,i just wonder if there was portable water, housing and food for the average man, i just wonder if our leaders can separate church from state, or religion was not a major factor in nigeria, i just wonder if there were no tribes or religion to divide our people, i wonder if everything was based on merit instead of man know man, i wonder if ojukwu was not stopped in 1967, i wonder if every region was allowed to control their resources.i wonder why all our politicians get big belle. i wonder i wonder i wonder i wonder.

    • Sword of Damocles

what i wonder is why are you so despicable and sheisty. if you were in the States, you would probably be a used car salesman. Slimy, no-character having, dishonorable betrayer just like the person whose boots you use to “brush your teeth” daily on these pages. Les Miserables!!

  • Dr. Kay

66,000 mortgage for young people in a country with population of about 140million people , what an achievement Dumbo. He quickly side step power generation and going on about power station he’s building , what happened to the ones recently commissioned , are they generating anything ? Talk is cheap, what have you done about Bokoharam , where are the evidence of progress thus far ? This man is so clueless ,he is even trying to claim eradication of Ebola with Fashola when he contributed nil, while holed up in his villa gulping ogogoro and buruku.
Dumbo your goose is cooked , you are the weakest link …….. Bye bye !

    • Es3

Mr. wise? Kay, what was the figure before Jonathan??? If you are waking up the dead, does it rise from the dead to take off and fly immediately???

What was the status of government provided housing in Nigeria before Jonathan??? That is the question you must answer and not side-step!!!

      • Chris1408

Because his predecessor failed doesn’t mean he should fail. Are we now celebrating failures. GEJ has failed and should go to Otuoke creek to enjoy his stolen loots

        • the truth

          did his predecessors go?

          • Wale

Yes, they died, Abacha and Ya’adua
OBJ made it out, but lost a wife.
Babangida made it out, but lost a wife later.

          • the truth

jonathan made it out he lost an uncle and a brother.

          • Wale

I think he’ll still be there till sometime next next year.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Nah !! he is going back to Aso-rock .

          • Chris1408

Well then, he can make number 3 of the honorable list of those that didn’t make it out of Aso Rock.

          • Wale

Oh; never thought of it like that.
            Abacha
            Ya’ardua.
            ???????
Be careful, he’s not that bad of a guy, he’s just slow.

        • Es3

You missed the point again because of your caked mind-set you. You missed the point on starting from decades and legions of previous failures as per the level of attainment that is possible in such circumstance?!!!

To all those that are singing their usual APC old, worn-out propaganda song that Jonathan is insensitive if he goes ahead to declare his intention to seek re-election today, I write and ask as follows:-

First in the US today and with their high level of security and alertness, are there recurring incidences of gun-totting individuals entering schools and gunning down pupils, students, teachers and workers alike???! When that happens, does Obama stop his governance and other progresses that must be made because of those incidences???!

Yes, someone will tell me that he cut short his trip and returned and all that, but the question is where does he return to – his office!!! What does he do on return – issue statements, instructions and all that, while the security services do their work?!!! Has Jonathan done that?!!! If yes, what else was he suppose to do, or should he have changed clothes to uniform and take over from the security forces ???!

Secondly, even if the security forces (soldiers, police, etc) were at the school gates and premises before the suicide bomber attack, what would they have done to prevent the attack??? Available information indicate that the bomber was dressed like a student and had the bombs under the school uniform! Then I ask: How practicable would it have been for these security forces to identify each student coming into the school that morning bearing in mind that they do not know the students as the APC government and the school management would do if they were at the gates (or entrances) to positively identify each of their student coming to school that day???!

The APC state government of Yobe and the school management, having full knowledge the security situation in the state, grossly failed in the responsibility to ensure that only their
students are within the schools premises while the soldiers would stop others who are not in uniform, in cars, or on any other format trying to access the school!!! If they did that, that APC’s innocent students blood-drinking spree of yesterday would have been averted!!!

The above is besides the fact that APC always times these their blood-drinking sprees a day (or so) ahead of any event that Jonathan wishes to partake for self and country?!!! The question then becomes: When will APC stop this blood-drinking and rather concentrate on
convincing Nigerians on what they have to offer that is better than what in obtained???! It’s obvious that they have none to offer that is why they concentrate on intimidation and black-painting (blackmailing) another, hoping that it will win elections for them come 2015???! But
are so daft that they cannot see that it is working???!

          • Chris1408

You GEJ praise singers are quick to refer to the USA when comparing to problems, but quickly forget such comparisons when it comes to development and advancement. Keep celebrating failures and eating crumbs from GEJ floor.

          • Es3

Really????! So to you, making reference to similar events in two countries happening at about the same time is celebration of failure???!!! Am I surprised???

Not at all!!! Because you and your so heavily-hypnotized APC ‘dispensable’ foot soldiers that have been telling anyone that cares to listen what Obama did, would have done, etc, now complaining that another is using your yardstick for you???!

If your complaint is on the economy, I would like you tell us how long it took each of the developed countries to transform their from the date they laid their hands on a committed leader???!

        • Es3

Still not yet ready to understand that when coming from the dead, there must be a time of thawing the ice and that progress would be slow at such times?!

          • Lala

You are a clown o! Hahahaha! Laf wan kill me die o!

          • Es3

Obviously there is another APC substance abuser here?!!!

Your national leader leads the way in substance abuse, Sylva and others follow while leading ‘the dispensables’?!

      • Lala

Mumu, did GEJ claim to have provided 66000 mortgages or houses? He said they are being ‘processed – whatever that means! Homo Ignoramus, enjoy your crumbs while it last, for the time is nigh!

        • Es3

          Wise??? Lala!!!,

Can your read the post you responded to again to actually see (hoping you would) where “provided was used???!

Besides! If Jonathan is processing 66,000 housing units, how many units were processed (or provided) by previous governments sitting at Abuja???

In your AC/ACN/APC 16 years in Lagos (if not more), how many housing units have they delivered – by the state government???!

When you get your true figure, compare that the figures that Jonathan actually delivered in about 4 years and the number being processed!!!

    • Democrat

Why do some Nigerians feel GEJ must solve all the problems created and abandoned by previous presidents in this period..is he a magician.?..pls lets be fair he has done a lot considering the level of collapse of our infrastructure…He needs another term to consolidate.

  • ofonime Daniel Imoh

My able president, your achievement is great as no previous administration can match yours. You made sure you touched all sectors, knowing fully well they were all in quagmire before you came. Our power sector is transformed, our agricultural sector has been transformed, our automobile sector has been transformed and even the oil sector. Now we know why you came with the transformation agenda. Daddy we appreciate. They knew you were going to declare today that’s why they sent their military wing to kill innocent children yesterday so that Nigerians will loose the sympathy they have for you, but they have failed. We that support you are more than those that are against you.

    • Realnigerian

We love you GEJ. Our Daddy President. We want you back.. so the BH can continue killing as long as ofonime Daniel Imoh’s family is not among the dead students, children, father, mother. As long as ofonime Daniel Imoh’s family is not among the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters displaced. Amen. Carry GO GEJ, we love you. you are so strong. God has anointed you. We as Nigeria know the GEJ is the best president for Nigeria.

    • KD

@ ofonime Daniel Imoh, are you for real ???? Jeez! No wonder Nigeria is the way it is! Incredible! Is this stupidity, naivety, hero-worship, tribalism of the weirdest form, ignorance or illiteracy. Nigeria is in trouble! Who is your daddy? I’m sorry for you.

Your write-up appears to be like a serial killer or mass murderer seeking justification for his inner darker thoughts just before manifestation. Please check out the definition of a “Leader” in a dictionary. You can google it.

After checking the above, please read what you have written. Those justifying Hitler’s regime wrote articles like the one you have just written. Those justifying Gadaffi, Nkurumah, Idi Amin, Arap Moi, Abacha, Mobutu’s reigns, wrote articles like the one you’ve written.

So what if 47 dies, as long as it did not affect my family. GEJ is the best thing in Nigeria. Carry Go GEJ. We love you

      • Es3

Expectedly, my write-up would appear that way to you because what accept and know are the lies you are told as against the truth you found out for yourself?!

There was a time I used to be like you, but that had since changed! !!

        • Realnigerian

I m sorry but you can never be like me. Never!!!. Nor could have been like me

In your world two wrongs make a right

In your world, as long its a South South Man, he can never be wrong

In your world, religion, tribalism, extreme nepotism is justified.

In your world, Religion is a weapon, when used appropriately it is a WMD

In your world, religious Pastor preach hatred when they are in trouble or trying to gain sympathy for their own wrong doings

In your world, illiteracy is a blessing, as long the people you appear to govern are clueless and don’t know that they have the power and not you. Carry GO GEJ!!!.

In your world, good hospitals, security, food, drinkable water, etc is a privilege BUT not for the poor.

In your world… the end justifies the means, Since majority of the past leaders were from the ailing North. this Presidency from South South can do whatever evil, It has your support forever.

In your world… I can go on and on.

Es3, there is no way you and your ilk could have been like me ever

          • Es3

Yes, It is very obvious enough that you can never be like me?!!!

You cannot be like me because we belong different worlds for real!!! I happen to be too real to be fake, or swim perpetually in the endless ocean of idealism in the face of stark realities! Your world belief in magic, mine belief that progress comes from taking sure steps in phases, especially when faced with in-daunting challenges clearly seen and known as obvious impediments to gathering speed as one would have desired, but not giving in nor giving up!!!

Yes, you can’t be like me because your world is that which accepts lies as the truth without raising a finger to find out the truth for yourself?! A world where assumptions take verifications and initiative completely out of the equation while hoping to arrive on the truth as the conclusion of the whole matter?! A world that would accuse a Yoruba man of ethnicity in favouring a South-South Man at a time that this same forum (and elsewhere) are fully aware??? Your world blindly (expectedly though) accused one that holds a record for demanding equity nationwide (on and off this forum) – irrespective of tribe and tongue!!! Of course, we know that it is only APC propaganda-jaundiced world that can produce that kind of mind?!

In your world, good hospitals, good roads, etc that are being built for a start are not worth noticing at all, but worthy of total condemnation and name-calling, laden with abuses and insults?! A world (your world) that a few years in office should have produced world class hospitals in every Local Government in Nigeria not minding that these are being with dwindling resources (income earned) and the limited funds seriously being devoured by Boko Haram conflict and others?!

A world that either does not know or could hardly recognize that changing a totally oil dependent economy to non-oil dependent one is process involving medium and long term development plans being executed diligently, that is if it’s to stand the test of time, and not the magic your world look forward to?!

I belong to the real world that knows that of a truth, when waking up the dead (as was the case with Nigerian infrastructure, economy, etc), it requires time, hard-work and patience and not a snap of the finger?! My world believe in the changes being put in place to try to galvanize ‘the dead’ back to life first, helping the dead gather strength so that ‘it’ can rise, stand, walk, run before flying!!! That’s my world!!!

I can on and on and on the difference between your APC negative and lies-driven indoctrinated world and the real world that I belong?!!!

          • Realnigerian

HEAR HEAR HEAR !!! – “They enjoy making promises they cannot keep. You have heard promises about security, not so? Promises made four years ago. But, we handed them the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with all its components parts intact and we are back four years after with some parts of Nigeria already taken away from them and they are saying the next four years will be better.” – Governor Fashola

          • Es3

You missed it again, “Chief Realnigerian”, for instead of repeating the same as you, I was actually confirming that you and I belong to different world?!

While I’m on the reality, you are buried in idealism, acceptance of lies, not willing to verify anything for self, because that person said it so it is, etc???!!! Yes, we cannot be the “same thing” because I used to be where you are today a long while ago, but I saw the light and moved out, which you may some day?!!!

On your Fashola’s quote I would tell you for free that none other supported Tinubu the way I did in his fight against OBJ in those days, no one supported Fashola the way I did in his first four years as governor of Lagos!!! I worked hard for his 2nd term in office going his track record during his first term?!!! Then, Fashola had still maintained his professionalism and kept his nose clean?!!! But all these were before I knew better!!!

That’s definitely not the Fashola of this 2nd term!!! Not surprised he now grandstands recklessly in the hope of being dashed the APC’s VP ticket!!! Sucked deep into the gutter of APC dirty politicking which completely erodes the gentleman governor and professional ethos (with dignity) that started off in 2007.

Yes, “dashed” because even as a departing governor, he does not have his own political machinery that can secure him a seat in the Senate today, talk-less of giving him a bargaining chip for Presidency or VP?!!! Unfortunately, the VP ticket is eluding him by the day!!! The ‘rants of a drowning man’ you could call it if you wish, because if Tinubu does not pity him, Fashola is dying a natural political death the moment he leaves office in 2015!!!

          • Realnigerian

Chief Es3, we are talking about GEJ not Fashola or anyone else. However I rest my case. you will never get it.

          • Es3

Oh, when you introduced Fashola to a discussion on Jonathan through a quote you attributed to him, you mean that you meant to be passing glance???!!!

Of course not!!! When talking to me you stay on the subject as I’m ever ready for any legal, moral and acceptable add-ons that you may spring along the line, anytime!!!

Anyway, you’ve rested your case already – because the task of opening your eyes to see same thing from another perspective (angle), the real angle, is apparently too enormous to undertake???!!!

  • Shahokaya

dem don begin make promises again…our ears don block…na only eyes we get now. Show us light make we see!

April. Fake re-basing of Nigeria’s economy means “numero uno” in Africa but means “nada” to ordinary Nigerians.
April, May & June: 115 Nigerians murdered by the still rampaging Boko Haram terrorists.
August, Gworza falls to BH who declared it their “Caliphate” and raised their flag over it. Since then, many more cities
and towns including the Chief of Defense Staff’s have been conquered by the insurgents while Dumbo gulps Og.
Sept – Oct. Dumbo phooled by President Idriss Derby of Chad into believing he was negotiating with agents of Boko
Haram. After paying the con-men millions of dollars in cash & weapons, they disappear… and Boko Haram re-appears
better armed and more dangerous than ever.

The first priority of any government is to protect its people. When is the Nigeria Government going to protect its people ?
All we hear are empty promises. Last night the BBC television reported that Nigerian soldiers are running away from Boko Haram and that they have taken over some towns in the north east. So Nigeria is just like Syria and Iraq now, where the incumbent government does NOT control the whole country. What happened to the cease fire with Boko Haram, As every day goes by Nigeria’s standing in the world becomes ever more pathetic and shameful !

I used to be a patriotic Nigerian. In fact, I used to be more patriotic than Patriotism. I used t believe in Nigeria and was very unfortunately ready and willing to die for Nigeria. But a singular historic event changed all that. It was Musa’s terminal ailment and the attendant embarrassment meted out to Great Jona in the months after. On one of such occasions in New York, a CNN reporter asked him how his Boss was doing and the Fisherman Vice President replied that he has not been allowed to see his president and so could not give any situation report. How embarrassing! Just because he is a Southern Niger Deltan…and I was almost moved to tears, but for the fact that in my Niger Delta Republic, men don’t cry.

The embarrassing treatment given to Great Jona wouldn’t happen anywhere else. Not even in Libya or Ukraine. But Great Jona ENDURED!

So, all my patriotism disappeared and my 100% allegiance shifted. I quickly dried up my tears but From that day, I ceased to be a Nigerian but a citizen of the South South Republic. May the Almighty God in His infinite wisdom cause Nigeria to disintegrate like yesterday. Amen? AMEN!

But now my Great grand children wouldn’t dare go close to the rivers. Na only kerosene full the rivers remain now, courtesy of oil pollution by Chevron, Exxonmobill etc. But instead of US to send their pollution cleansing equipment, they chose to send 2 naval war ships to help protect their investments in the oil companies. So, they care not about my Mama who can no longer pay UNIPORT fees bcos she cant fish in d waters anymore. …This is some of us are praying and hoping that people like Sir Dokubo Asari should pick a form and contest. We need pple who will protect our rights with vigour.

Hear the achievements of Nigerian president in 6 years. Stopped corruption in agric sector, provided fertilizer to some farmers and 66,000 mortgage requests in a country of more than 170 million people. This is the president of Nigeria gloating about his achievements in 2014.

    • Realnigerian

      • Chris1408

LOL. Na Bola him do for Aso Rock

      • Ayo Sanusi

He can not claim credit for Ebola o – that one is down to proactive Fashola an the APC Governor of Lagos State because if it was down to clueless Jonathan, Nigeria would perhaps be worse than Liberia by now.

  • Goks

I almost rolled off my chair while laughing at this statement especially the one that says: “Mr. Jonathan said he has eradicated corruption in the agricultural sector and that the success will be extended to other sectors. He said he will double his effort in the fight against corruption and that corrupt government officials will begin to face justice”. Guys please I am not anti-GEJ or PDP or APC or any other party but the facts on ground will certainly speaks for itself. Eradicate corruption in the agricultural sector? The purported coruption in the agric. sector is nothing compared to our oil sector. What about the several millions and billions of USD unaccounted for by NNPC and its cohorts. What has been done about it? Going by this statement, if it takes over 4 years to eradicate corruption in agric. sector (as alleged), how many years will it take to record similar success in other sectors? Again, President GEJ said that, “… and that corrupt govt. officials will ‘begin’ to face justice” OMG! Does this mean corrupt officials has not been facing justice because someone has failed in his/her duties? OR Does this mean it to the President over 4 years to realise that corrupt official must face justice? Regardless of any interpretation you may want to afford this statement, for me, one thing is certain: We are still joking as a Country!

All said, if I were President GEJ, I had rather not make any statement on corruption than make statements of this nature. In fact, it is very disheartening to hear statements like this and it begs the question: Where are we really going as a Country? God bless Nigeria!

    • Chris1408

Politicians are emboldened to make such statements when the citizens become too docile to take their country back from parasites parading themselves as leaders. Look at small Burkina Faso, threw away a dictator in less than 24 hours. My people dey siddon look and praying. They forgot “heaven help those who help themselves”

  • Guguru

What a sad day. What a sad man called Jonathan. His people are dying and only one day after, he is declaring for re-election. A day after the Nyanya bus park blast, Jonathan again, was dancing at a PDP rally in Kano State in honor of Shekarau’s defcetion from APC to PDP. Twice, we are witnessing Jonathan’s insensitivity.

  • Guguru

Jonathan keeps calling himself “Azikiwe” when his real name is “Azikwe”. He keeps referring to himself as “Ebele” when his real name is “Ebelemi”. Nigerians are being defrauded by this man and they do not even realize it.

    • Mr Igbo Sanity

Jonathan’s grand father is an Igboman , Ebelechukwu, hence “ebele” His father gave him a nick name Azikiwe because of ZIK. But even if jonathan was born in Onitsha and he is the biggest LOOTER and has presided over the BLOODIEST regime since the civil war No Igboman with good conscience SHOULD support him in 2015.

Just because someone is an Igbo kidnapper is NOT a reason to support a kidnapper!

      • Guguru

Why is a nickname mixed with the real name? Is that not fraud? Who is he really? What has who your grandfather is, to do with what you have chosen to become in the future? He does not seem to see himself as an igbo man. So, why is anyone forcing him to be an Igbo man? I don’t get it.

        • Mr Igbo Sanity

Whether Igboman or not his record in the last 6 years STINKS to high heaven. Only crumb chasing Igbos who do not care for Igbos, and Nigerians murdered under Jonathan’s watch will support the most corrupt soul in the history of the PLANET

          • Guguru

            Well said.

  • Mr Igbo Sanity

jonathan, after you stated in Windhooke, Namibia a year ago that you have been treating BH with “kids Gloves” and after over 18,000 has been MURDERED under your WATCH and after LOOTING the military budget and sharing over 32 Billion dollars with your ministers and generals, you now want to fight boka haram less than 90 days before election.

Until you bring back the 18,000 Nigerians MURDERED under your watch you should forget about Nigeria and prepare to spend years in Jail in the ICC jail in the Hague.

Your STOLEN $20 billion dollars from unremited oil money makes you, jonathan the BIGGEST THIEF in the history of the PLANET

    • Alcindo Satori

Well, he’ll rule you for another 4 years. Prepare to relocate to Cameron.

      • Guguru

Or prepare for our new lords given to us by the Jonathan administration—Boko Haram?

      • Mr Igbo Sanity

If can “rule” from a cell in the “Hague” let him try.

  • Comfortkay

Hillarious this statement from Nigeria President it is not how long you rule that counts but how well you govern.
Governance is about accountability and Performance, after failed six (6) years in office GEJ said he will do wonders. I dey laugh.
Some foreign observer said that GEJ will win the forth coming election because that APC does not have a structure and list of who is who in their party and, everyone wants to be President or governor and having said; that the living conditions of Nigerian are getting worse daily, our democracy is very weak because of the election system and corruption, the past six year President Jonathan is a disaster for Nigeria he cannot win the war with Boko Haram and the investors can never come to Nigeria because there is no security and it will be better to have a Military for a year or two clean up the mess since 1999 and then conduct a better election .

He said “his government has succeeded in eliminating long queues at fuel stations through consistent provision of petroleum products to Nigerians.”

The president of the largest oil producer in the world is not talking about refineries but eliminated queues. What’s that?

    • tundemash

These were excerpts from the Otuoke Clown’s 2011 election promises ……

In Aba on February 12, he promised to stamp out kidnapping; provide facilities that would boost the enterprising spirit of the Igbo; upgrade the Enugu airport to international level; dredge the River Niger; build a dry port in Aba for Igbo businessmen; complete the Second Niger Bridge; rehabilitate all the main roads into Abia; tackle the erosion crisis; and make Aba the Ground Zero of eventual aircraft production in Nigeria.

In Uyo on March 7, he promised to build coastal roads and rail from Lagos to Calabar.

In Awka on Feb 26, he said he would construct all the major roads which link Anambra with its neighbors; complete the ongoing aero-dynamic survey of gas in the Anambra River basin, which [leading to] power supply, then Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry”; complete the second Niger Bridge; and complete the Onitsha Inland Port. Nigerians would not be talking about generators after his four years in office, he vowed.

Revive ailing oil refineries and build new ones (Abeokuta, March 12)

      • Collaborate with state governments to explore the solid minerals sector (Gusau, March 15);

      • Spend N350 billion in building small dams across the North in the next four years to stimulate “massive irrigational farms” (Northern Economic Summit, Kaduna, March 19);

      • Expand and develop the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry to provide about one million jobs (one-man presidential “debate,” March 31, Abuja);

In Akure on March 2, Jonathan promised that the bitumen deposits in the state would be exploited for economic development and employment generation; to provide funds for small and medium scale enterprises, mechanised farming and agro-based industries; and to partner with relevant agencies to harness the agrarian nature of the State “to open up the flank of semi and mechanized farming in the State to engender a paradigm shift from subsistence farming to reliable modern agricultural practices.”

In Osogbo on March 2, he promised to complete the Lagos-Jebba rail project right away; complete the Ife-Ijesa dam; enhance agricultural irrigation; provide farmers with adequate information; invest in petrochemicals, mining, research and development.

GEJ says he will double his efforts in the fight against corruption. Invariably, that means he will do nothing in the fight against corruption since he wants to redouble nothing. Shuoo!!! • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

I concede the reforms in the Agric sector to Mr. President.

I am however puzzled as to what the results of the “doubling of efforts against corruption” would achieve.

    • Lala

      ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Meanwhile, this is how his reforms on roads are seen by his own supporters.

Any wonder he did not mention roads in his speech?

Any surprise that Mr. President is begging for a piggy-back ride on the efforts of both Rivers and Lagos States (APC States, if I may add) in tackling Ebola, when a more focussed government would have been talking about real improvements in the healthcare sector?

No wahala sha, Madam Piss can still go to Germany in order to go to heaven and come back seven times and rich Nigerians can still chose to go overseas to die.

“Former senate president, Ken Nnamani, spoke for the South East. He said the region was supporting the president because they do not want the Second Niger Bridge abandoned. He also said the region wants the president to continue in office because the region’s busiest highway, the Enugu Onitsha highway, was in terrible condition and that only a Jonathan led government beyond 2015 can fix it. “We do not want trial and error,” he said. He also added that the region’s only international airport in Enugu need to be completed.”

        • bib

You can see why the sensible easterners should not vote GEJ . Everything remains in unknown future. Sewon Niger bridge in the future. The Enugu Airport in spite of two ministers of aviation is in the future. Enugu Onitsha road also in the future. All these in spite of aviation16 years loyalty PDP goats have enjoyed from the easteners! I believes it’s time to try another party by the easterners.

        • King Carlos

Ken Nnamani was blunt in his speech. He even said the president should not impose any candidate on the party. I hail him for coming out straight and hard on the president. Constructive criticism I guess.

  • dave

This is the best PDP can offer Nigeria,a man who cannot fix the problem.A man full of excuses and an expert in passing the buck.A man that cannot keep his promises,a man full of deceit,a man unprepared for the job.A divisive man who will want to remain in power on the alter of religion and ethnicity. What a tragedy on our nation. We are held hostage by a few powerful elites who are simply taking the nation for granted.I believe 16yrs in the life of a nation is enough for an effective change. For 16 years PDP could not fix electricity, education, hospitals and other basic needs of life. Now the same party is back to present to us another complete failure for another 4 years. They want us to manage him for another 4 years.Nigerians open your eyes, think of our future and our children. We need a change.

And the Boko Haram would be patiently waiting for that moment. I say this because the Nigerian military is now completely emasculated; no use whatsoever.
