“Why Jonathan approved ceasefire deal with Boko Haram”

Boko Haram insurgents

President Goodluck Jonathan’s commitment to end insurgency, ensure security and peace in Nigeria is the driving force for all engagements and negotiations with the extremist Boko Haram sect, a government spokesperson, Mike Omeri, has said.

Mr. Omeri, the Coordinator, National Information Centre, said this on Friday while giving update on the ceasefire agreement reached between the Federal Government and Boko Haram sect to end insurgency in the country.

“We can confirm to you that there have been contacts between the government and representatives of the Boko Haram.

“The discussions are essentially in the relation to the general insecurity in the North-East and also the need to rescue all captives of the terrorists, including the students of Government Secondary School, Chibok.

“From the discussion, they, terrorists, indicated their desire for and willingness to discuss and resolve all associated issues,’’ he said.

According to him, they, terrorists, also assured that the school girls and all other people in their captivity are all alive and well.

“Already, the terrorists have announced a ceasefire in furtherance of their desire for peace. In this regard, the government of Nigeria has, in similar vein, declared ceasefire,’’ he said.

The coordinator assured Nigerians that the greater goal of the process was to ensure the return of normalcy to the country, especially in areas affected by the terrorist activities.

Mr. Omeri said the negotiation was being facilitated by President Idris Derby of Chad, adding that the essence is to end terrorism, free the Chibok girls and all those in captivity.

He said “no condition’’ was attached on the release of the girls and others.

According to him, one of the commanders of the sect, Danladi Ahmadu, is representing the sect in the talks, while the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Hassan Tukur, is representing the government.

  • Frank Bassey

What happens to the demand of the Boko Haram for the Islamization of Nigeria, or are they no longer interested in imposing Sharia rule on 167 million Nigerians? That is the fundamental question. Those arguing that BH is a product of idleness, poverty, ignorance … are not being sincere.

    • Issei

You can direct your Quastions to Dr Jonathan

    • Otile

It has never been their intention to impose Islam on every Nigerian. All they want is to have their 12 sharia states. By the grace of Allah they have liberated Borno, Adamawa and parts of Yobe, also a little incursion is going on in Bauchi. if the Federal troops violet this ceasefire they will go ahead and liberate the remaining states. Bassey kukere?

      • Frank Bassey

Allah is not God, mind you.

  • Buhari is an Islamist

.What are Northern Muslims doing to rescue the Chibok girls who are paying a deadly price for Sharia?

Buhari is here to implement sharia rule. Christians and non- Muslims population are threat to Islam. Buahri and his Muslims element have concluded to reduce Christian and non-Muslim population. A vote for Buhari is a vote for sharia.
Chibok girls are victims of Sharia and Islam. GEJ did not invent sharia. A group of Muslims decided to implement sharia which abhor Western education. Chibok girls were abducted while attending a western school as against Islamic school( a crime in Sharia).

Northern Muslims overwhelmingly adopted Sharia not GEJ. Boko-Haram are Northern Muslims fighting to implement sharia. What are Northern Muslims doing to rescue the Chibok girls who are paying a deadly price for Sharia? Nigeria situation is not an exception. Afghanistan Taliban government operating under sharia law, abhor western education, thus ban girls from such schools.

Malala, a Pakistani Muslims was recently shoot by Taliban Muslims for seeking western education. It is all about Sharia(the evil law). The hatred towards her stems partly from religious conservatism and opposition to female empowerment(in accordance with sharia law). Instead of joining GEJ towards everlasting solution and the eventual release of those young girls, northern Muslims are here playing politics.

Boko-Haram represents what northern Muslims stand for. Boko-Haram are not animals but advocates of sharia . They are here to implement sharia as they were told by elite Muslims that non-Muslims are threat to Islam.

Say No to Buhari and sharia rule.

    • Ahmad

Your religious bigotry can no longer sale. Nigerians can no longer be deceived and divided along ethno-religious lines. Ode!

      • Wähala

That’s the maddest man online, @Deri Orbuka aka, Redeem aka, burning spear aka, dis-n-dat…
Don’t mind him, he’s a career drunk and a paid goon to disparage any/everyone against his moron crumbs giver in fake fedora. He’s been banned by PT but, he pops up here-n-there with fake handles posting trash… mostly about Buhari and Tinubu. Pray for him to have a heart attack before 2015 elections… he deserves it!

        • Otile

My brother, are you still a Catholic, how can you wish Deri Orbuka Redeem the Redeemer D Mace early heart attack? Why not give him time to repent?

          • Shola

He did not wish him. He only stated the obvious. Hypocryte

        • emmanuel

Na him post go give you heart attack.

Imagine the truth told by the guy – Buhari is an Islamist and your co-Cattle Rearer Ahmad tried to desparage him or stand the truth on the head and your loquacious mouth is here running.

Is Islam not a Pagam religion instituted to rebel against Civilisation? Is Islam not a Tebelious and Violent religion? Is Islam not anti-female? Is Islam not tue basis of the Fulani politics in Nigeria?

Why the sudden Peace treaty? Other Nigerians must thread carefully with this Ceasefire and prepare for eventualities.

It is high time this religious monster be plqyed down if Nigeria must remain – they kill, steal, politik, rape, loot, behead in the name of their god.

      • Shola

I am not surprised. I recognize Boko Haram or Her sympathizer, when I see one.

  • Ahmad

The only reason he approved the “cease fire” is because he is about to declare for his third term bid after the saTAN Abuja mega rally on Saturday. He will now use the celebrated cease fire as a selling point. Else why now?

    • The following is from my article “Islam’s Jesus”:

… In Islam, hiding the intention to expand Islamic territory is a virtue. When Muhammad didn’t have enough soldiers,
he agreed to be peaceful with Mecca (Peace Treaty of Hudaibiya), but after he gained more followers,
he sneaked-up on Mecca and took it during Ramadan (a pre-Islamic pagan fasting month).
Following the example of Muhammad, Muslims (even today) advocate and follow
Quranic and Hadithic verses that speaks of making peace with infidels when Muslims are the minority in a society.
Examples of such verses are: Surah 2.256 “Let there be no compulsion in religion …”

… The Qur’an and Hadith doesn’t limit the expansion of Ummah al-Islamiyah, the
lands over which Sharia’s Theocracy must be administered; in comparison
to the Torah’s Theocracy over a specified land: Eretz YisraEl.

    • Otile

Third term ke? Gowon misruled for 9 donkey yrs until Col Mohammed booted him out. IBB misruled for 8+ donkey yrs until he stepped aside hoping to hoodwink Nigerians and sneak in again. Abacha misruled for 5+ donkey yrs until Satan called hm home, yet I have not heard you, Ahmad describe their regimes as 3rd term. President Jonathan is still doing his 1st term, but you are calling it 3rd term, is this fair? Learn how to count Ahmad, this is not like national census where the North falsifies the figures to cheat the South.

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

So it is Jonathan’s turn to misrule?

And, please come off this ‘North’ and ‘South’ rubbish. The thieves in high places don’t see it as such, neither do some of us on the other side of the fence.

        • emmanuel

          Misrule?

A South African Bank has signed a deal to locally finance car loans for made in Nigeria Cars. Na your papa do am? Misrule?

The Trains now haul goods from Apapa Port to the North and passengers too that Children born between 1989 and 2010 never new. Na your papa do am? Misrule?

Your Lagos-Ibadan Express way is going eight Lane. Na your papa do am, misrule?

Politically motivated killings has been managed down in this country. Na your papa do am? Misrule?

Ballot snatching has been managed down. Na your papa do am, misrule?

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Emmanuel, what has my “papa” got to do with this?

If you have a father, instead of an endless parade of “Uncles” going in and out of your life, you would not open your odious mouth to denigrate other people’s fathers.

            Enough said.

          • emmanuel

            Misrule?

I want your father to contest and win Nigeria presidency so that he will not misrule us.

I am only challenging you to the ring.

So e dey pain to abuse somebody papa? Jonathan na papa too.

            I am being objective, period

We have too many saints in this forum whose past time is to thoroughly abuse the president with reckless abandon, but do not tolerate insults – Hypocrisy!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

A definite lack of a distinct father figure in your life at your most crucial time – the formative years – is on display here!

I wonder which one of the hundred and one “Uncles” had the greatest impact on your miserable life? Or did they all just pulled up their pants after their five minutes were over and left?

          • Efe1

As we speak some are still turning up and pulling up their pants, the difference now is that Emmanuel indulges as well.

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

            ouch!

          • Shola

            Slave pig!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

            It hurt you that badly?

Why did you squeal like a stuck swine?

          • Shola

Like the one your mother was making when a man was molesting her before your gutless father. What a humiliation, slave!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Not only too many unknown potential fathers, but a mother who was lost to cheap alcohol!

You are not worthy of your slimy existence!

Ropes are cheap, buy a yard and dangle from it.

          • Shola

It runs in your family. Your good for nothing father did it, after watching your mother groan under his worst enemy, without raising a finger. You can as well go ahead and use the rope that your father used. You don’t need to buy it, Pig! Grade A slave!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

You appear to have been let out of the lunatic asylum too early and without appropriate medication!

Please relocate back to your Mental Hospital.

I am not a mental health doctor who can help you.

If you do require my help, the only thing I’d give you is a bullet in the head so that you can join your demented baboon of a father who died of a heartache because he could not convince your mother to give up her money for hand, back for ground profession..

          • Shola

Hehehe! I do not waste bullets on a nobody like you. Your father died watching his fellow man molest your mum, without raising a finger. Son of a nobody is also a nobody. Another man will molest your wife, and just like your nobody father, you will die of heart attack. So, what’s the fuss? A pig is a pig, even if he can coherently put words together. It pains to be betrothed by a nobody father, and even more to take after him. Slave!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

            lol, Shola.

            You are psychic!

You have foreseen the miserable end to your pathetic life.

May God grant it for you as you have wished. Amen.

My only regret (happiness, actually) is that I won’t be able to see you being used as firewood in hell!

Don’t worry sha, as the Devil is roasting your miserable carcass, I shall be singing, “oh when the Saints go marching…”

          • Shola

Slave! So you have not taken the path if your worthless father? Heart attack is imminent because I can see your wife being taken like your mum and like your father you’d rather die of heart attack than fight back. High degree Pig

          • Shola

Shut up, you hypocrite. The guy did not abuse your father. He only asked you questions about your father, dunce. Can your good for nothing father lace GEJ’s shoes? Now, this is an insult. deal with it

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Just so that you know, I will come back and insult you when your grandfather finishes cleaning my toilet.

As for you, you can go back to the unfortunate swine that excreted you screaming from between her filth ladden legs.

          • Shola

Pig! E dey pain you? No be me make you slave. Monkey!!

          • Shola

Born by a whore pig, your life is going to be endlessly mierable. You’ve got no grandfather, pig! Your whore pig mother killed him long ago. Slave!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Sure, I have two of blessed memories.

Wouldn’t you agree with me that that is better than wondering if every disheveled, deranged looking, maniacal looking, demented baboon in the village square and markets is your grandfather as you are wont to do?

Look, don’t me blame, if you if you are from an “off” stock and you don’t have a clue about your early life, save the dump him where you were found.

          • Mark Nsikan

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

            lol, Efe!.

I put it to you that the problem with Emmanuel is his confused state of mind.

He’s almost certainly still wondering which one of the “Uncles” he should adopt since his other siblings call seven of the ‘daddy’!

          • Mark Nsikan

          • The Nigeria Future Project

Our problem with Nigeria – we celebrate mediocrity instead of aspiring to greatness.

It is one thing to make progress, it is something else to achieve potential

Our problem with leadership – they set a baseline that is so low and we all clap when they do the smallest thing.

If only Nigeria’s leaders would excel in developing the country as they excel in corruption and self interest. – After all, the highest paid President and legislature in the world should be expected to deliver the best of everything to their nation.

Take a look at Dubai, Singapore, Thailand and even Ghana – their leaders don’t cost their countries half as much – yet deliver so much more.

          • Train from Apapa port to the North? Lagos Ibadan rd on 8 lanes….. on and on. And now that someone is about declaring, we hear the Chibok Girls might be realised on Monday and a ceased fire has been brokered. What has taking years of kindergarten approach. I must still be living in the UK. Like the 2rd Niger Bridge like all u have listed. I fear some people …. with hypocrisy and boot licking.

          • Bishop

Dedo, not boot licking – ass licking fools thinking that PDP will have that seat this time, The Game is over boys, it’s time to let go off the joystick. This is end of the Road for PDP on that faithful day when Buhari will emerge.

          • Shola

God will continue to bless you sir. Truth stands always, while Lie(s) Mohammed always bends. lol!

          • Mark Nsikan

      • Efe1

At least the only people you see fit to compare the otueke prince of Omo to are military men who choose force as their stock in trade. GEJ knows his days in ASO rock are over so he is milking the last cow. TAN or SATAN can gather, it only takes a flick of the switch of the light of eligntenment to sweep away the backwardness that PDP has enthroned in nigeria for the last 15 years. Buhari’s finger is on that switch and no GEJ or SA-TAN can stop it. Day must break.

    • Shola

Call it whatever you like – Tenth time, fifteenth time, etc. One good thing is that you only have one vote, if really you registered.

  • Bunduma Mohammed

GEJ declaration and refusal of south africa to sale arms which has been used by book haram is the driving factor.

    • warry

Whatever is the reason are you angry?

      • Efe1

Yes we should be angry, 12,000 people had to die for the Otueke prince to feel satisfied.

        • Shola

So, the girls should be left with the Boko Haram to make you happy?

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Does it make a difference to you when you have no manhood?

          • Shola

Gworo toothed pig! I am sure you are a slave. I only reply to humiliate you. Look here! Your good for nothing father watched as your mother was being molested by his fellow man. So, who are you? A bastard!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

And it takes one to spot another, doesn’t it?

          • Efe1

Your question is not relevant. I can turn it round to ask you, should it have taken 12,000 for GEJ to secure the girls freedom? We are not even sure if GEJ can still call this jinny back now, because there was an attack today in borno.

  • AHMED SARKI

The reason why boko haram ceasefire is to give chance to their Boss jonathan to win the 2015 general election. we know there is no any boko haram exept to nigerian militry under the administration of jonathan.

    • Otile

      I hate war mongers.

  • emmanuel

Fintiri was sworn in some weeks ago and has slipped aside. Was that a term or civilian rule?

Bikp, how many terms did Peter Obi rule in Anambra, going by the number of times he took oath of office?

Nigeria has so many jesters including some quota system SAN who recently went to court against GEJ.

Common sense is not common afterall!

Ngilari Swearing-in has legally put paid the arguement of Jonathan and Yar Adua term, because Nyako term is not being completed by Ngilari who is entitled to two terms of civil rule.

We are not impressed by any Ceasefire, the Armed Forces has really routed the insurgents and ate dry on supply and strategist who have been majorly slaughtered by the military.

They have seen the Somali Al Shabab dying off in recent months also.

Meanwhile, Buhari and Atiku discovered that part of their votes from the three states would be missing in 2015, so it is wise to restore nomalcy there hence the ceasefire.

The house shown above look like a typical Chad compound, implying that the Girls are in Chad and their president is not willing to end the insurgency. These African nations needs some Ukraine treatment once in a while!

    • Efe1

You have crossed wires and missing screws in your brain. If one is not well rooted, they will go mad reading your comment. You sincerely need help. What exactly are you on?

    • teewhy

      Brilliant you!!!!!

  • This sudden ceasefire speak volumes. If it was this easy, how come GEJ had not done this a longtime ago to save over 12,000 lives. The #Bringbackthegirls# campaign have triumphed at the end.

  • Bunduma Mohammed

Idris Derby who is a son-inlaw of Jenjewi leader in Sudan is the political strategist of book haram through his surrogate Ali Sheriff. Therefore the meet was held between owners of book haram and sympathisers(GEJ). Who are they ddeciving?

  • The Major political party will soon hold their presidential primaries… what a big statement and bonus if they can get the Chibok girls and many more in Boko Haram’s captivity before the electioneering. All of a sudden we are hearing a cease fire and eminent release of the Chibok girls. Patriots Well done O !

  • teewhy

Premium Times!!! Must my comments be pro APC before you stop blocking me? Clowns.

  • Abubakar Sadiq Husaini

    PDP POWER + POWER 2 D PEOPLE + POWER 2 MANIPULATE N RULE + RIGGING + CORRUPION=BOKO HARAM.ALMIGTHY ALLAH PROTECT US 4RM DIS MURDERERS.

  • Shola

Thank you dr Jonathan for giving the Boko Haram sympathizers heart attacks, now and forever more. They have continued to Go and Die in pieces

  • Bryan Emadia

Na wao, what kind of ceasefire are you negotiating with people that have already declared a caliphate ? are they planning on ceding part of Nigeria to this mongrels? are these scoundrels going to be allowed to go free from any charge?

  • Bishop

These Media people always contradicting themselves, Who’s fooling who in this country, The same GEJ who said “Boko Haram are not terrorists, they were merely freedom fighters”. Wants to give us the impression that those monsters are fighting for freedom. FROM WHAT? if I may ask. And 24 hours after this ceasefire deal was made Borno had multiple bomb attacks, Who’s Fooling Who? And what happened to the demand of the Terrorist Group to release their members held captives? isn’t that part supposed to be addressed in the So called CEASEFIRE DEAL? Then if it was that easy, Why did GEJ let them destroy and murder close to 12, 000, Kidnap over 260 girls before this deal? you can eat your cake and have it, just because the election is drawing close you decide to mop up your loose canons, Peharps Just Peharps this time dey’re really out of your control President GEJ.

  • Abeg, make una ask this man wetin dey happen. I just tire.
