Nigeria will remain stable, united after 2015 elections – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday in Abuja assured the international community that Nigeria would remain politically-stable and united after the 2015 general elections.

Mr. Jonathan gave the assurance when he received new ambassadors of Spain, Finland, Ireland and Ghana.
The new envoys are Alfonso De Erice (Spain), Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury (Finland), Sean Hoy (Ireland) and William Awinador-Kanyirige of Ghana.

Mr. Jonathan reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensure that the 2015 elections were as credible as they could possibly be.

“We received international commendations for the conduct of the 2011 general elections and I can assure you that the 2015 general elections will even be better,” a statement by his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, said.

“Our friends and well-wishers will be welcomed to observe the elections under the auspices of the African Union, ECOWAS, U.N., the European Union or other international bodies.

“They will affirm that the elections are as free, fair and credible as we have promised,’’ Mr. Jonathan told the new envoys.

Mr. Jonathan also urged the ambassadors to strive to further enhance trade and economic relations between Nigeria and their respective countries.

The four new ambassadors thanked the president for receiving them and promised to do their best to strengthen bilateral ties between their countries and Nigeria during their tenures. (NAN)

As long as you allow those who want to secede to do so, others can unite and enjoy a stable Nigeria, ba magana.

No be unity and stability alone I won chop. Reduce and fight corruption, provide infrastructures, security, reduce unemployment, revamp health and education sector. Unfortunately these have not sincerely been the priority of this govt.

Nigeria’s stability hinges on a transparent electoral system without interference by any organ of government at any of the level of governance. is INEC truly independent? Whatever happens, It is my prayers that only those perpetrating falsehood should be caught in their own mayhem. Enough of innocent lives.
