PDP grants Ribadu, others waiver

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has granted waiver to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, and former military administrator of Lagos and Borno states, Buba Marwa as well as Markus Gundiri, the governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in the 2011 election to run as aspirants under the platform of the party in the October 11 governorship bye-election in Adamawa state.

PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, made the disclosure to journalists Friday at the National Secretariat of the party.

The three aspirants had earlier submitted their application for waiver to the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.

The NWC had also forwarded the requests to a sub committee under the leadership of the National Organising Secretary, Abubakar Mustapha.

The committee submitted its report to the NWC today recommending the granting of the waiver.

With this development, the three aspirants will alongside eight others face a screening panel tomorrow (Saturday).

The PDP is expected to name the panel members later today.

  • Darlington Mudiaga Atumu

Nuhu Ribadu should have gone to labour party not PDP….

    • Izozo Gbomo

The pending political irrelevance of a politician lacking in principles – hanging out in the party he described as a den of thieves.

      • Darlington Mudiaga Atumu

Ribadu is very principled; he is confused at the moment on happenings within APC then he was decived into joining PDP….he should have joined Labour party to strengthen it to be the alternative opposite party

    • taiwo

      Well said. Exactly my thoughts

    • trippi

He would have had more labours than hercules and would have laboured more than all the labourers in Adamawa combined if he had moved to Labour party..

  • solomon

If Goodluck make this mistakes and make Ribadu governor of ADAMAWA STATE I and my household with my friends and well wisher will vote against Goodluck.

This is too bad of Goodluck I hate it robbing those who serve him well to pay this subhuman nonentity called ribadu.

    • Wähala

A very corrupt Dr. Dumbo needs a Corruption Czar to mark him very closely…
Hahahaa chai… na laffu for kalabari!

    • sunkani

Nuhu Ribadu is a rare gem who made his enviable credibilty by him self & stood out among his contemporaries in the world. If you hate ribadu, you are clearly exposing your self as one of those thiefs that are not soppused to be walking freely.
Jonathan knows Ribadu better than you do yet he invited him to PDP to sanitised Adamawa and redeemed the Image of PDP in Adamawa in particular and the nation general. And that is even the Jonathan and his PDP are boasting that the will will make sure the being some body that is acceptable in Adamawa state who the whole world adjuged as the one the best people Naija ever had

    • wolab

There is no point voting against Jonathan,it is better you relocate chad

  • Ken

Ribadu should be voted out during the primary. Waver doesn’t mean he has been elected. let the other candidate come together and get maximum votes to stop Ribadu

    • Wähala

Why are you scared stiff of Ribadu? Ed Clark’s warning has been discarded, deal with it…
Ribadu is the Spy who loves us! Pray he wins the Guber race or else, Sambo will be in the soakaway next year after making room for Ribadu as the new VeePee… Dumbo needs close marking. Hahahaa chai!

      • Godfrey Etokebe

YOU have been EXTREMELY INDOCTRINATED into APC ANTAGONISM!!! please try the REVERSE before it is TOO LATE!!!

  • BlackieUmukoro

Ribadu is a catch 22 scenario. PDP needed to tread carefully

  • wolab

Shame on people who doesn’t want PDP to grant Ribadu waiver,mr commentator you can go to hell or pack out of Naija

  • John green

So, PDP are afraid of ribadu now or what?? Those supporters of PDP should becareful, it’s the joke been played on nigerians that’s been played on you also by your party whose objective alone is to drain the nation and make it unconfortable due to only one man ambition…. Jonathan must be packing his loads small small now, end time in feb 2015

  • Des Rees

Did these three [3] aspirants obtain clearance at Local government council level, as required by the PDP constitution?
If not, what’s PDP National Working Committee trying to prove, besides wanting to use Nuhu Ribadu for name-dropping?
We already Know that Goodluck Jonathan is the most corrupt president Nigeria has ever had since October 1, 1960.
President Jonathan’s sole interest in Nuhu Ribadu is only for use as alibi, that an anti-corruption Czar is PDP member.
And to achieve that ulterior purpose, President Jonathan suborns the PDP party executives to break the laws of PDP.

  • tsunami1earthquake

It’s surprising how the PDP bent over backwards to grant Ribadu a waiver! Ribadu of all people being granted a waiver? That’s preposterous and a slap on the faces of other loyal PDP members who had stuck to the party and had gone through thick and thin with the party. Ribadu is a gold digger who moves from one party to the other looking for where the pasture is green and where he can feather his nest. That is all. The PDP should not forget quickly how Ribadu and El-rufai had joined hands to carry ugly campaigns against the PDP. And here is the PDP granting him royal treatment. But, come to think of it, what are Ribadu’s antecedents apart from the fact that he happened to be the pioneer chairman of the EFCC, a job he had done very poorly and badly? The only thing one can quickly remember him for is the way he brought Tafa Balogun his boss to court as if he was dragging a tramp and a mad man to the court! As a lawyer he should have remembered that an accused is still to be treated decently, even if such an accused were a murderer. That is the precept of law. The PDP will live to regret the day it anointed Ribadu to be its candidate for the governor of Adamawa State. The PDP has short memory in the sense that the impeached governor was a thorn in the flesh of the PDP; now they want to bring in another thorn in the flesh! Good luck to them. If I were the voters in Adamawa I would just ignore Ribadu and go for someone else in another party. Unfortunately Nigerian electorate have not acquired this kind of sophistication; they all vote like cows being herded to a spot.

  • Godfrey Etokebe

I am personally VERY THRILLED about this development. In the first instance, a level playing field has been created for all ASPIRANTS. Now its is just a question of you ”SHOWING YOUR WORTH” in your DOMAIN. ALL the PDP aspirants that I have read about (as of date ) are OVERTLY qualified to LEAD ADAMAWA STATE. The question is not about PDP winning ADAMAWA STATE gubernatorial election but who among this well qualified aspirants is going to carry the day. I wish all of them good luck in the primary. I PROMISE that I SHALL campaign vigorous for any of them that is presented as the PDP candidate.

  • Rastaman

I know for sure that one or two of those granted waiver now will still re-defect after the primary.
What i don’t know is what the useless PDP National Working Committee will have to say then.

  • igbiki

All these things going on are just ruse, the Jonathanians has primed Ribadu to win.

  • Mohd Idris

I hope and I pray that Mr.Ribadu will be disgraced,so that he will learn a lesson for him to know that he is really a sycophant, and that he has never be in politics for the masses.Mr Ribadu is only in politics for the benefit of his pocket.

You missed out NCDMB. Orosanya’s report on review of civil service indicated average annual salary of N36 million. The agency pockets 1% of contract sums in the upstream sector and the rest is history. The pioneer CEO and embezzler-in-chief of the agency got fired this week as part of Jonathan’s lunatic hire and fire intoxication a few days to May 29.

  • Tolu Solomon

    yeah, You missed out NCDMB
