Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said on Tuesday that he got to his position because he is a honest person.
The minister was speaking at the 2013 Leadership Newspaper annual conference and awards.
Mr. Maku said his parents made an honest man of him causing him to emerge as minister.
“I am where I am because my parents taught me not to steal, tell lies or say things that I don’t mean,” Mr. Maku said.
He called on Nigerians to restore the lost values in the land and advised parents to instill the right values in their children.
Mr. Maku also advised Nigerians to strive to do the right thing when they are in government.
