The PDP said Mr. Anenih has lived up to his reputation as a “consensus builder.”
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the intervention of the Chairman of its Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih, in the current reconciliation efforts as “statesmanly” and complimentary to the realization of the goals of its current National Working Committee.
In a commendation message issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, Tuesday in Abuja, the PDP noted that in a few weeks since his election, Mr. Anenih has lived up to his reputation as a consensus builder and a strong believer in the supremacy of the party.
“Chief Anenih has always promoted the advancement of collective interests over and above narrow interests. His intervention at a time the National Working Committee (NWC) has embarked upon a tour to achieve total reconciliation and engender internal cohesion is worthy of commendation,” Mr. Metuh said.
The PDP spokesperson expressed confidence in the BOT Chairman’s ability to use his experience, wide contacts and wisdom to bring all party men together for the common goal of providing qualitative service to the People.
“The National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is particularly delighted with the synergy between the Board of Trustees under Chief Anenih, the National Working Committee and the PDP Governors Forum which is knitting the Party together in the midst of unfounded speculations of disunity. The PDP remains the most united and formidable political movement and indeed the best platform for political expression in Nigeria. No other Party can boast of these credentials,” Mr. Metuh said.
The party also praised its Governors Forum under the leadership of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, for standing firm and remaining undaunted in spite of what, it says, is a conscious effort by desperate opposition elements to fabricate imaginary cracks within the forum.
“Our Governors are the pillars of our Party and are vital channels for the translation of our manifesto to practical reality. It is therefore of utmost necessity that they remain united and focused for the sake of our people,” he said.
The statement concluded with a solemn pledge by the NWC to ensure that all individuals within the PDP are totally reconciled in fulfillment of the National Chairman’s agenda.
