The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has approved the release of the admission list into Junior Secondary School 1 for the 101 federal government colleges in the country.
This was made known in a press statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES and confirmed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Willie Bassey, on Tuesday afternoon.
Over 80,000 pupils sat for the entrance examination held in April 2018.
The education ministry lamented that the insecurity situation in the North-east and North-west regions affected admission into the colleges in the regions.
The ministry said there would be a supplementary examination to enable those colleges fill their vacancies
According to the statement, the list follows the 2018 selection exercise for placement of qualified candidates into Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) held recently at Owerri, Imo State.
The selection exercise employed the national merit criteria of 60 per cent, with a cut-off score of 146 and above, and equality of state of 30 per cent of each college’s carrying capacity.
The statement also said the education minister approved for supplementary examination to be held tentatively on August 11 for colleges in the North-west and North-east zones affected by insecurity.
