Man arrested with dead baby in polythene bag

Ajiboye Emmanuel, arrested with baby body parts.

A bus passenger, Ajiboye Emmanuel, has been arrested by operatives from the Ogun State Police Command after being caught with the corpse of a baby reportedly meant for rituals.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this on Monday said the suspect wrapped the dead body in a polythene bag.

He added that the 42-year-old boarded a vehicle at Sapade garage in Remo axis of the state, on December 22, with the polythene bag he was carrying.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the odour emanating from the bag aroused the suspicion of people in the motor park who quickly alerted the police at Isara Division.

“Upon the information, the DPO of Isara, Yusuf Taiwo, led policemen to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested,” he said.

The police spokesman said after searching the bag, it was discovered that a dead baby was wrapped therein.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was coming from Offa in Kwara State heading to Lagos where he intended to bury the baby.”

He said, the police, not satisfied with the claim, took the suspect to Isara Division for further investigation.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the police are working on a hunch that the baby may have been killed for ritual purposes.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for proper investigation.

The Yorubas this is their culture but will always claim to be civilized

    • emmanuel

This trend is becoming too ugly. The Yorubas need some re-orientation.
No week passes, without series of these cases reported. Of course there are several of such that go undetected or un reported. Not to talk of those who organise parties just to change peoples destinies in ritual to better their lots.
It is a shame that even pepper sellers, vegetable sellers, bankers and professionals engage in these evil acts.
I knew of a Banker who whilst trying to bring out a key from his pocket erroneously [pulled out a charm that dropped to the ground.
Another who had series of engagement with a charmer to boost his marketing and target drives. Where is the place of the “sophistication” touted everywhere.
Come to Pekam here in London and some other neighbourhoods and you will be amazed how clay pots and several other ritual sacrifices are placed on junctions. Ki lo dé é?

      • Factual Bob

I was at Kingsmead Estate,Homerton a few days ago and stumbled into 2 clay pots with assorted fetish ornaments and my Yoruba colleague told me it’s a regular pastime of his people in that neck of the woods.

It is disheartening. Civilisation is not catching up in that area at all. See what happens when people are retrenched from work. some people must be recalled and you can imagines what has passed on top the bridge in the dark (in such cases, nor be water pass under the bridge)

Do not bring civilization to me with the Mayans in central America building pyramids and practicing human sacrifice too.A clear examination of history. Is clear that civilization is not always associated with Christian morality.Although i am condemning the Barbaric act of the killing of a toddler.Peter Carlos Hinds.King of the Zulu.Barbados.

Well if past civilizations have been so corrupt and brutal. Then we are walking on eggs towards advanced civilization.Peter Carlos Hinds.King of the Zulu.Barbados.

The practice of ritual killing, juju, voodoo circulating round Nigeria today, have their origin in Yorubaland. Most of their prominent men and women, including so-called Men and Women of God, went that way.

Tomorrow after the Rituals the man will become a Pastor performing Magics in the name of Miracles.Treacherous Tribe can not live without Criminal act that give them an undue advantages. Before in the seventies They become Lawyers and turn Nigerian Courts into Lieing offices and the next is Drug peddler . After that As Banks started their Criminal businesses they become Bankers the next is OIL criminal Business and now Pastors. Treachery in every thing.

What is baby factory, for that matter? You cannot be sleeping with camels and horses and think still straight. Do not divert attention from your miserable status – illiteracy, disease, infections, poverty, epidemic, violence, killing, Sun worshiping …..

  • Otile

Watch out, you will not see thusspokez, and Bunmi comment on this issue. The bigots will only come in to demean other ethnic groups, while portraying their Yoruba tribe as civilized.

Imagine someone keeping human part from a murdered victim pending when he finishes fasting so he can use for charms. That kind of thing does not describe religion or civilisation. I always heard of people having charms under their buba and sokoto or buba and iru while in church growing up. That seem not to have abetted.
