The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed over 500 mobile police officers to Aba to restore peace in the troubled city.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Operations, Taiwo Lakanu, disclosed this on Friday during a duty tour to Aba, at the Aba Police Area Command.

He said that Mr. Idris directed that peace should be restored to Abia, hence the deployment of the mobile police officers who had assumed duty in Aba.

“You can see that we have emplaced security and that the whole place is quite and our men are on patrol,” he said.

“For now we are still monitoring. So, for now there is no problem. We are on top of the situation. We are working in tandem with other agencies and they are cooperating with us.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that peace is gradually returning to the commercial city which was embroiled in a clash between soldiers and IPOB members in Aba.

Some roadside shops along Aba-Owerri road, St Michael’s road and other streets, and those at Ariaria International Market and New Market opened on Friday.

Aba had been very peaceful before Buhari’s military invasion of the famed entrepreneurial city. In fact businesses, especially those of the city’s ingenious shoemakers and tailors were rooftops high and the Nigerian economy was better off for it. Everyone knows what these dispatch of policemen do wherever they are sent – to extort money, harass and abuse citizens. It’s obvious that the government of Mohammadu Buhari lacks the capacity to steer the ship of a modern state. In fact Buhari’s reign is again proving to be nothing more than a spell of doom for Nigeria as a country. Let’s hope it gets better.

A child that says his mother will not sleep, he too must remain awake throughout the night. The leaders of the SE are afraid of the miscreants called IPOB. So they find it easy to point acussing fingers on the government even when such attack is unrealistic and irrational as in the case of this scenario. The northerners are killed and their properties destroyed in the SE. Moreover, muslim places of worship have been destroyed by these idiots. Yet, their igbo brothers are still enjoying friendly accomodation in all part of the north. The press is silent, the bishops are silent, human right groups are not only silent on mayhem but are even upholding what they believe is the right of IPOB to go on wiyth their agitation. It is high time you prople should understand that, the slightest strike in the north wil cause the igbos far greater loss than what they inflicted on the northerners living in their region.

This is the reason why we said this president is reasoning from behind. Why sending army at the first place. This is purely police affairs. He make Kanu hero by his actions. He has created tension everywhere now. God will help us

What has happened to the massacre in the church at Ozubulu in Anambra state, was it bcos it was not carried out by herdsmen that no one is talking about it? I smell lack of sincerity here, death is death especially when it was violent death and desecration of place of worship
