TRENDING: Nigerians react to threat on Igbos in Northern Nigeria

Nigerians on twitter have reacted to the widespread agitations caused by the threat made on the lives of Igbos living in Northern Nigeria by some Northern groups.

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, ACYF, a coalition of socio-political groups in northern Nigeria, on Tuesday issued a three months ultimatum for all Igbos in the 19 northern states to vacate the region.

The threat was issued during a press conference held in Kaduna where the AYCF officials led by the group’s National President, Yerima Shettima, gave a three-month ultimatum after which it would use force to evict them.

The group also added that it would claim ownership of all landed properties belonging to the Igbos after the mass eviction it called for.

The news spread like wildfire across various geopolitical borders and has amassed reactions by various individuals and bodies respectively.

Reacting to the threat, a socio-political Igbo group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, urged its people living in the Northern part of Nigeria to relocate for their safety.

The National Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze, Uche Achi-Okpaga, in a statement in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital made its stance known.

“At any rate, two wrongs don’t make a right,” he said. “We encourage our sons and daughters to accept every Nigerian and even a foreigner living legally and lawfully in the South-East. We also advise our people living in the North to relocate if your life has been so crystally threatened. It has no spare either”.

In the same vein, the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai condemned the call and has ordered the arrest of sponsors of the Arewa forum.

The most remarkable thing about the Northern Youths declaration is that the meeting held at the renowned AREWA HOUSE in Kaduna. Never forget

We're not even an inch closer to being united in Nigeria. How can these Arewa groups wake up and make this sort of declaration. Sad!

Northern Youths who disagree with this statement please retweet. They don't speak for us. We are NOT at war with Igbos. They are not leaving. https://t.co/vP4ulJhSyQ

Ultimatum by "Coalition of Northern Youths", to Igbos, is utterly condemnable. Should be treated as Hate Speech & Incitement to Violence.

— tolu ogunlesi (@toluogunlesi) June 7, 2017

I expect the DSS to be rounding up those Northern Youth against the IGBOS by now, unless this country is truly a JOKE

— Oke Umurhohwo (@stalyf) June 7, 2017

The threats by northern Youths against #Biafrans living in northern Nigeria has been documented, our people has been placed on red alert.

It is time FG is decisive in squashing agents of destabilization, be it "Northern Youths" or IPOB. This country is bigger than us all.

— HENRY Okelue (@4eyedmonk) June 7, 2017

If by now, @PoliceNG have not rounded up those Idiots calling themselves Northern Youth groups against IGBOS, then, ONE Nigeria is a JOKE.
