Former President Shehu Shagari has urged Nigerians and the international community to support President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration, saying the president is an honest, incorruptible and detribalised leader.

Mr. Shagari, who clocked 92 on Saturday, said the president was doggedly fighting corruption to sanitise governance in the country and therefore, needed the prayers and support of all Nigerians.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that Mr. Buhari was a true nationalist whose penchant for Nigeria’s socio-economic development was unparalleled.

He said the president was striving to salvage the country from the hands of anti-Nigeria forces, and appealed to Nigerians to continue to pray for leaders at all levels “rather than cursing them”.

“Buhari is also intensifying efforts to truly diversify the economy by taking attention away from heavy dependence on oil revenue,” the former president said.

He expressed satisfaction with the efforts so far made by the present administration to improve the security situation in Nigeria and urged the government not to relent.

Meanwhile, Bala Shagari, eldest son of the former president, has described his father as “humble and disciplined,” saying they were proud of him.

He said the family was grateful to God for the life of their father, adding that it was a blessing that he had lived to 92 years and was still strong.

“We must show gratitude to Almighty Allah for his longevity. Our father is an invaluable blessing from God; he is free with us and always provides wisdom and guidance to us.

“He is never greedy and he is a person who never solicits for anything or position, only gets it purely on merit,” Mr. Shagari added. (NAN)

    • Patriotism

Only biafraud animals regards buhari as tribalistic and religious bigot. Simply because they are tribalistic and religious sentiment. Let them fail into lagoon.

Would you believe it if you see it ? I guess Gen. Akinrinade was lying when he said that as his boss who approved his study at the U S war college knew he has it and saw it. I definitely know you wont believe OBJ another one of his boss who also said that he has it and saw it. Yeah, you know for a fact that he doesn’t have the cert because you say so .

          • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Mr. Man, do you come online to only reply to my post? Why does Buhari not just provide a photocopy of his WASC with all the processes he filed in court. If someone accuses me today of not possessing WASC, all I’ll do is call a press conference and distribute photocopies. Is that rocket science? Fcuk Obasanjo and Akinrinade.

          • Julius

Smh !. Again, would you believe it if you see it ? My guess is NO. By the way, is that your way of coming out of the closet when you said fck those 2 men ? • dele20

A lair you are, better Stop saying trash

  • zacchaeus Akinleye

That is a ringing testimony from a man whose government was deposed for corruption some 34 years ago. The prospect of Nigeria’s greatness coming into fruition is most probable under Buhari because of his incorruptibility.

  • ilesanmi

Did I hear elder Shehu Aliu Shagari saying Buhari is:
    1) Honest
    2) Detribalized
    3) Nationalistic
    4)Incorruptible
Anyway, the Chief Priest always has a way of prophesying to the king.

    • dpfrank

You can’t change the fact that Buhari is the best man for Nigeria

      • dele20

Yes ooooo, I support you with this

    • dele20

      PMB is really incorruptible

  • dpfrank

Well said Sir, Buhari is a man of integrity and honesty

  • Impulse400

Hmmm… has he forgotten that Buhari overthrew him in 1983…?

How does he know that Buhari is really doing all that he praises him for…?

As my Hausa folks always say: “Hausas like themselves.”

    • Gbola

And Igbos hate themselves abi ??

Why do you blame Hausas for all your misery and gross failures ??

      • Impulse400

See this Mushin conductor… who gave you phone to come and be calling bus stop on disqus? If really you are educated, what in my comment implies that I blame Hausas for anything? Did I not refer to them as “my folks”…? What if I am yoruba, that is how you use your nuisance to disgrace both of us here.

Gbe enu o kuro nibi joor. Olori buruku oshi… ta lo fe ba o soro te le.

With the greatest respect to Shehu Shagari, you are talking nonsense. The facts and evidence about Buhari contradict these claims. You must be talking about another Muhammadu Buhari you know.

Honest? Yet he wouldn’t tell Nigerians what exactly he is doing in the UK
Incorruptible? Surrounds and protect currently, the most corrupt people in Nigeria.
De-tribalised? The ethnic origins of majority of his appointees contradict this claim.
