Dogara’s performance gives me hope in Nigerian youth

Buhari + Saraki + Dogara

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, “for always putting Nigeria’s interest above every other thing.”

The President said this on Sunday in Abuja in a statement to mark the Speaker’s 50th birthday anniversary.

The statement was signed by the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

President Buhari noted that he was impressed with Mr. Dogara’s rising political career and leadership style at his relatively young age.

He said the Speaker’s performance had reinforced his confidence in the country’s youth.

“With Dogara’s performance as Speaker, fears that the country’s younger politicians have been pushed into background are unfounded,” he added.

He added that his administration would always encourage the younger generation.

The President said he was optimistic of closer working relationship with the legislature to fast track the implementation of critically important national policies and programmes.

Your support for youthful leaders is unquestionable!
You support those who padded budget ( Dogara), and acquiesced to the humiliation of a youthful whistle blower (Kofa).

Unbelievable Mr. President… Drug dealers and Mafia dons also show incredible leadership style to grow their empires why not praise them too? If leadership style is what is important to you are we to expect a national award for Tompolo soon?

Isn’t obvious Buhari is cozying up to Saraki, and now Dogara, to gain their support for his outrageous $30 billion loan bid.

It was difficult for me to understand why this man remained mum to the accusations of what has become known as ‘budget padding’ which, when you think of it, is contradictory to the publicized war against corruption.

Didn’t everyone wonder why the hesitation on the part of the executive to look into the allegations that members of the legislature are engaging in the practice of defrauding the country?

It stands to reason that an administration parading itself as agent of change against corruption would take such allegations seriously especially if that presidency or administration is contemplating borrowing as whopping $30 loan that could easily become target for padding.

But the executive has chosen instead to heap praises on the target of that allegation. That’s fighting corruption Nigeria style.

I think it is safe to say this administration is basically groping and figuring it out as it goes.
