PDP accuses Aregbesola of planning to replace striking doctors with traditional healers

Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that Governor Rauf Aregbesola was planning to sack striking doctors in the state and replace them with traditional healers and witch doctors.

The party’s spokesman, Diran Odeyemi, in a statement on Sunday, described the “technical” sacking of the doctors as a blackmail and a misstep on the part of the state government.

“Now that all the ill-conceived measures to cow the doctors have failed and the Plan “B” of replacing them with new intakes had been frustrated by the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Governor Aregbesola, wants to experiment with the use of native doctors,” Mr. Odeyemi said.

“Governor Aregbesola has a rich history of odd actions all in a bid to be ‘unique’. If a governor could unilaterally change the education system in Osun from the 6-3-3-4 operating across the country to 4-6-3 by recategorising primary and secondary schools in the state to Elementary, Middle and High Schools, then his plans to replace orthodox medical doctors with native doctors in this modern age cannot be dismissed with a wave of hand.”

The opposition party also accused many stakeholders in the state of not doing enough to caution the Governor Aregbesola against act that had earned the state negative publicity, charging them not to give up on the state.

“It is truly depressing that a once shining light among states of the federation could be reduced to the least in every aspect that is noble in the space of five years,” he noted.

“Osun in the last WAEC rating was 29th and least in the entire South West of Nigeria. In 2010, this same state was 9th in the entire country according to WAEC rating.

“Despite the fact that this and many actions of the present administration left sour taste in the mouth, all stakeholders in the affairs of Osun must not give up.

“They should rise up against the continued misdemeanor being dressed as governance in Osun state.”

PDP, there is a moderation to propaganda even in war situation. While it is within the right of opposition paty to make the ruling party accountable, irrelevant innuendoes and blatant lies distort the merit in your message. Very soon, Nigerians will begin to see PDP as a party of propaganda. This approach will do more damage to the already damaged PDP. We know that Diran Odeyemi, PDP, mouthpiece in Osun state is a renowned fraudster. We also know that leadership of the PDP in Osun state is made of up of murderers like Omisore and Adesiyan. But we think that even among robbers, there is honor to a good extent. Maligning Governor Aregbesola with blatant lies will do more damages to PDP than to Aregbesola in the long run. Osun state does not plan to hire native doctors. Less than 100 doctors in Osun state cannot hold the government hostage. We know their leadership is being sponsored by the PDP to create all these theatrical scenes. These doctors abdicated their duties and must be sacked. You cannot hold a state to ransom!

No wonder Osun state is now competing with states like Zamfara and Gombe for the race to the bottom in education. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the latest (2015) WASCE charts.

I am mostly ashamed of telling people that I am from that state in recent times….Aregbesola was a wrong and the worst choice ever in that state..he is only good at propaganda but I bet Osun people are now wise… No governorship aspirant who doesn’t reside in Osun will ever be supported no matter how good he is.. The major problem with Aregbesola is always a misplacement of priorities…. It shows his state of mind.. Osun people, e ku afarada…

If that happens it will be another novelty in backward integration! While the doctors will require foreign currency to procure their medicine, the other group will require cowries and money will be saved; what a creativity!
