Zaria community wants Shi’ites probed

Shi'ite procession from Kaduna to Zaria

Some residents of Gyallesu in Zaria, Kaduna State, have called on human rights groups to look into the pains caused their community by Shiite Islamic sect led by Sheikh El-Zakzaky.

They also called on the Federal Government to ban Shiite movement in their community and Kaduna state as a whole.

A spokesperson for the community, Idris Baba, told a news conference in Kaduna on Saturday that Shiites had held people in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas of the state hostage with impunity and running a parallel government.

“We the elders are calling on our children who left their homes in order to save their lives due to attacks and threat by the Shiite followers to return home,” Mr. Baba said.

He narrated their ordeals at the hands of Shi’ite followers for over 20 years in Zaria.

“My experience with Shi’ite followers is disastrous and terrible, at a point Shi’ite boys threatened to kill me.”

Mr. Baba also said Shi’ites had in May 2015, declared 24 youths persona non-grata for challenging their activities in Gyallesu where Zakzaky resides.

“Before, we can’t grant interview to the world about Shi’ite’s activities, but now (after Shiites clash with military), we are sleeping with our two eyes closed.

“We are happy over military action against Shi’ites movement in Zaria because we have fresh air now blowing in our areas.

“We are Muslims, but we discovered that Shi’ites’s activities are contrary to Islam.’’

This is a clown sponsored by the army and fueled by their hatred for the Shiites as indicated by his last statement: “We are Muslims, but we discovered that Shiites activities are contrary to Islam”. It is not for him to dictate how others behave or worship unless they temper with his human rights. The question is in what way did the Shiites affect his life in the 20 years and how many times did he report them to constituted authorities or sued them? We have the courts to settle these matters and since he never reported it, it means this was a planned cover up using “people from the Community” to justify what happened. I hope the outcome of the Judicial Commission is not being determined already.

or you’re the real clown and too dumb to see the dilemma Gyallesu people are in, these are people that do not respect right of others, and they don’t recognize any constituted authority, is like the type of Shia you practiced is fake

      • john nyior

Abbas Musa, thank you. I schooled in ABU Kongo Campus and lived in Gyallesu, and I know the kind of terrible experience with went through with Zak-Zaky and his followers for 4 years.

        • Idris Musa Ibi

Ur such a great citizen who says the truth with no bias. John i support u for saying the truth knowing ur not even a Muslim, I agree with ur opinion 100%. We need more of Christian living in gyellesu to come out and say the truth about this matter.

    • Yunusadoke

He did mentioned that they were been threatened by the sect; that thay will be killed. Who in that dilemma will dear report them when you kniw that the security personnel will do anything. I suspect that you are a shi’ite member and in full support of their violent nature.. You should be very careful else…

The IMN is the same group that called for the Islamization of the entire nation?

God, I am sick and tired of problems Muslims are causing in Nigeria! Yesterday it was Boko Haram, today it is Shittes, only God knows the one that will come up tomorrow. Northern leaders have failed to bring up their kids in a manner that they will be useful to society. Instead of training their kids in useful ventures they fill them with rate and resentment for people of other faiths and religious persuasion. Little wonder that their society is utterly broken with poverty walking on four legs. I pity Northern Nigeria, I really pity them!

    • NoBeLie

Are you saying all Muslims are up to no good? Its not fair to conclude so broadly. I have stayed in Zaria, Awka, Ibadan and can tell you that the world is made up of good and bad people. We should all strive to make our society a better place.

        Gbam..everyone has their black sheeps.
Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, traditionalists, atheists, agnostics.

    • Idris Musa Ibi

A good Christian will never outer such comment, i think u are one of them(the three sect of terrorist trying to bring Nigeria down) u made mention of the two here in the north, I thing u belong to the other one in the south which is so called BIAFRA AGITATORS. All ur plans will no work by the grace of Almighty GOD. Nigeria will prosper. You Evil @ashibogu

Actually, it was Shi’ites who first subjected harmless and innocent citizens to extreme hardship. They are above the law. That is why they attempted to do what they did to COAS, which is terribly nonsense. What happened to them was only NEMESIS, which was long overdue.

    • Usman

You’ve said it all, it’s long overdue

  • Usman

They’ve caused all sorts of problems to us, unfortunately, those human right groups were no where to be found until when they instigated what they couldn’t handle. The Shiites treated everyone like an animal at the expense of their leader or members, they had no respect for Islamic values and principles neither constituted authorities, we will only continue to thank Brutai for his sense of discipline and Elrufai for steadfastness.

Time has come for Sunni Muslims to speak up,the enemies of Nigeria are gathering in large numbers, people can see that the Shia’s have godfathers in Iran and now that we know what is going on,the SUNNI in Nigeria should lay aside the enmity and mistrust created by people like late Ahmadu Bello and team with Christians,we have no other country to call our own, religion should not be a barrier for us,we are all Nigerians, all forms of religious fanaticism must be expunged from public life, our loyalty should be to Nigeria as the only homeland we can call our own and not to any religion or deity, Nigeria we hail thee
