The retired army general, however, seeks to be regarded with the official title reserved for Nigeria’s president; while his vice seeks to be described with his academic title of professor.

“From May 29, 2015 the President-elect and Vice-President-elect are to be respectively known and addressed as Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Garba Shehu, the head of the Directorate of Media & Publicity of Mr. Buhari’s campaign organisation said.

The statement also displayed the official portrait of the two men who will be sworn-in as Nigeria’s President and Vice President on May 29.
