President Goodluck Jonathan saved Nigeria from bloodshed by conceding defeat to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustee Secretary, Walid Jibrin, said on Tuesday in Nasarawa.

He called on politicians to emulate Mr. Jonathan by accepting the outcome of the March 28 and April 11 elections in good fate, in order to forestall post-election violence and in the interest of peace and development.

“Jonathan’s acceptance of defeat when he lost his second-term presidential ambition to Buhari saved Nigeria from post-election violence and bloodshed.

“The acceptance of the defeat does not only save Nigeria from post-election crisis, it also gave Jonathan a high level of respect from all Nigerians and even the international community

“This shows that Jonathan is a true democrat, who has the interest of Nigerians at heart. And we will continue to pray for him and other elected leaders to enable them to succeed.

“I also want to call on all stakeholders and other Nigerians to do everything possible to be at peace, because no nation can achieve development without peace, which is not negotiable.”

Mr. Jibrin expressed optimism that the PDP would bounce back in the future and urged the supporters of the party to unite and embrace one another, irrespective of their backgrounds.

He explained that PDP government, since its inception in Nigeria, had done a lot in fighting poverty, hunger, unemployment as well as promoting peace and boosting socio-economic development.

The PDP BOT secretary said that Jonathan demonstrated a high level of maturity by conceding defeat and urged other politicians to always emulate him.

Mr. Jibrin urged the party’s supporters and other Nigerians to be law abiding, respectful of constituted authority, peaceful and have tolerate for each other, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation. (NAN)

PREMIUM TIMES MUST DISSENT FROM THIS PSYCHIATRIC CIRCUS

Hey folks, this is wrong. Don’t mislead Mr. Goodluck Jonathan. He should be criticized.
Jonathan has virtually thrown his party under the bus. What’s the praise for over that?
The PDP has lost almost the entire middle-belt which was the pillar of PDP since 1999.
He lost all the elections in Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, and, Nasarawa states – all!

Jonathan should be severely told to his face that he’s messed up big time, not praised for it.
Jonathan is still struggling to, again, lose the last state in the middle-belt; i.e TARABA STATE.
What sort of a politician is Jonathan? He couldn’t even win in any APC opposition state – none!
No, no, no, please Premium Times, don’t get yourselves into this psychiatric circus in PDP circle.
He lost ALL elections in Yorubaland too. Is this a praiseworthy result of his 36-state campaign?
The plain honest truth is that Mr. Goodluck Jonathan messed up big time in this 2015 election.

    WARNING TO NIGER DELTANS

It has been brought to my attention that some misguided elements of Niger Delta are planning a reception for Goodluck Jonathan ….. a mumu man who failed to advance the vital interests of the Niger Deltans, of the Peoples of Southern Nigeria and of the Northern Christians and Northern Minorities throughtout his over 6years stay in Aso Rock ………. they should not try it.

I repeat ……. they should not try it ………. Niger Deltans must distance themselves from the mumu and fooolishness embodied by Goodluck Jonathan.

To be candid, this subject matter is getting irritating. It is an aberration not to accept defeat when you loose a
contest. The fact that we seem not to be ashamed of ourselves that such a peculiarity has been the norm in our setting defies logic. GEJ did what needed to be done because the odds were so stacked against him that he had no choice but to concede. If he had plunged the country into chaos, there would have no country for him govern because everyone would have been consumed by it including himself. It demonstrates once again that we black Africans are our own worst enemies and we keep blaming everyone else for our lack of progress. It is a terrible indictment for all of us to make GEJ a saint for doing the
normal thing afterall. While he was in the position to write his name in the history of our country as the one who transformed Nigeria he didn’t either because of primordial sentiments or inability to weed out the parasites around him. As a result of these, he got many things wrong!. He only has himself to blame because most Nigerians supported his coming.

  • Yusuf

He avoided bloodshed and kudus to him, in which he saved himself…But he didnt save Nigeria because he put us in this situation in the first place…The Rivers election, Orubebites and all the desperations are enough to put him in the wrong side of history; what he did was akin to a chess player when faced with a checkmate..take a honorable defeat and start again or hit the chess board and end with a humiliating defeat…A hero is not made in one day

  • Spoken word

If GEJ had tried any monkey business. his blood would have been the first to be shed.

  • Maitama Tambari

Jibril Wali, President JONATHAN had done the right thing to all Nigerians including himself. Nobody knows the scale of disappointment would have taken us to if the President JONATHAN had not disarmed PDP and their hate Campaign Teams, by conceding defeat to General Buhari.

    • Wähala

He did not disarm anybody. Never criticized nor stop his boisterous wife, Fayose nor FFK. What the fcuk are you talking about disarming PDP stooges? Go siddon boo!

  • Wähala

Dumbo did not save Nigeria from any bloodbath, he was cornered into accepting defeat by Kofi Annan, John Amos and other African & EU delegates in Nigeria who read the riot act to him with pictures of Laurant Gbagbo in jail… the coward simply bowed to superior argument and opted for self preservation. Stop all this nonsense about the corrupt criminal being a democrat, he will still end up in jail after his evil deeds are fully exposed to the world… like kidnapping of our Chibok Girls!

    • Action_Nigeria

All your ranting amount to nothing as Buhari will surely be disqualified

      • Wähala

On what basis… haven’t you heard that the Army have suddenly found his academic credentials? No court under Buahri’s Govt. will dare disqualify him, hia me so? Go home punk, the game is over. I warned you urchins to save your crumbs for rainy days didn’t I? WiarisAsariSef? Still waiting for his armada of canoes to start shit in the creeks… Drunkards are noise makers!

  • Ukpaka

I am so tired of this BS. For God’s sake, why should this president be given any accolade for doing what’s expected of him?. Like many people have already said, GEJ unsuccessfully tried to use the armed forces to intimidate opponents and rig the election in his favor but all that effort was met with a checkmate. Thanks to Jega and the use of PVC. Needless to say that both he and GMB had been warned by US and Europe of the consequences of inciting violence. Moreover, when you lose the election by almost 3 millions votes despite inflated votes from Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, what other options was he left with but to concede defeat. So, please enough of this non-sense.
Let’s remember this president for his true record: Inability to rescue the over 200 Chibok girls; many innocent Nigerians that met their death looking for non-existent job and the failure to hold anybody accountable for their death; his inept leadership skills that led to the annexation of the greater part of NE Nigeria and over ten thousand civilians killed and hundreds of thousands displaced from their home. GEJ’s failure is just too many to be listed here. This president is simply the worse we’ve had. He will not be missed.

In what ways did GEJ saved Nigeria from bloodshed, Every unbaiased sincere Nigerian are fed with 16 years of PDP rule. What a shame for a party thaqt wants to rule for 60 years.
He is not the first politician to conced defeat despite all the money they distributed, GEJ has time now to reflect on his 6 years rule in Nigeria.

    • nikoroorire

In fact, for plunging Nigeria to this mess, he should be invited for query over the disaster of a government he presided over. All our monies stolen during his time should be fully accounted for and recovered.
He should remain for ever in the Hall of Infamy. What a shame!

  • OmoLasgidi

Another untiring sycophant… GEJ was scared shirtless of the consequences – risk losing his loot, stash of $$$s, oil blocks etc etc. He would have surely ended up like Gbagbo, or a rebel in the creeks! He was also aware that his so called supporters would abandon him to his fate! Cunning man…

  • taewo

Most importantly, he saved himself and his hippo wife in what could have been a fall from grace to grass.

  • Arrest warrant

We didn’t and shall never miss an unfocused, drunkard, lazy, womanizer, criminally minded president like Jonathan Badluck in the history of Nigeria..Go and live like you are..GOD will punish you like you punish us…GO AND DON’T COME BACK …..WE SHALL NEVER EVER FORGET AND FORGIVE YOU..HELL AWAITS YOU..

  • Enemona

Yes, the jesus of Otuoke saved us. He did us a favor by accepting to leave a presidency that was his father’s property. What a glorious exit!
