The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Anenih, has charged the president-elect, Muhmmadu Buhari, to take Nigeria to greater heights when he assumes office next month.

Mr. Buhari of the All Progressives Congress defeated President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP in the March 28 presidential election.

In a statement, Mr. Anenih, who was the National Adviser of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, said the keenly contested election, which many predicted would spell doom for Nigeria, ended gloriously with everyone emerging a winner.

He congratulated Mr. Buhari on his victory at the poll and expressed hoped that his administration would take the country to greater heights.

“I congratulate the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on his victory,” Mr. Anenih said in a two-page statement titled: “Marching on with Hope.”

“Nigerians are expecting great things from him; it is my hope that he will take this great country to greater heights in the journey towards our manifest destiny.”

The PDP BoT chair also praised Mr. Jonathan for conceding defeat to Mr. Buhari even before the final result of the election was officially proclaimed.

According to him, the outgoing president had by so doing made an indelible mark in the sands of time.

He said, “I salute the statesmanship of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, in conceding defeat, even before the official declaration of results was done. By this noble act, President Jonathan has made an indelible mark on the sands of time. History will be very kind to him.

“President Jonathan has worked, selflessly, to deepen democracy in Nigeria. His consistent advocacy of the rights of the people to freely choose their leaders had earlier yielded free, fair and credible elections in some States of the Federation. Now, a peaceful transition is expected to follow after the general elections.”

Stating that though there are genuine reasons to disagree with certain aspects of the conduct and outcome of the presidential and national assembly elections, Mr. Anenih however tasked those still aggrieved with the outcome of the polls to emulate Mr. Jonathan’s “selflessness and magnanimity” so that Nigeria can enjoy peace, which is a prerequisite of our march to greatness and prosperity.

“The 2015 presidential election, in which the incumbent President lost to the opposition, has become a source of pride to Nigeria. It has portrayed to the world that democracy in Nigeria compares to the best anywhere,” he stressed.

He also commended the National Peace Committee led by a former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar for its moral advocacy that culminated in the non-violent reception of the outcome of the presidential election.

He added, “I am, also, happy that the presidential election has put a lie to the doomsday sayers. We have gone through the most critical of the elections and our country is at peace. Glory be to God!”

Mr. Anenih also congratulated all Nigerians on the success of the presidential and national assembly elections and urge all and sundry to participate in Saturday’s governorship and state houses of assembly elections, with the same zeal and patriotism.

Continue showering accolades on GEJ for now. He may not be there when most of you are called to account.. He has well prepared a soft landing for himself, alone.

Have you ordered the release of the young Major who refused to do your bidding and ordered his arrest?

  • FirecloudOFGOD

Where has this PDP relic been all these days since GEJ threw in the towel!

When it mattered most, GEJ jettisoned the worthless advice of the likes of Anenih and Bode George and simply took his destiny into his own hands. By so doing, GEJ has come back from the dead. He became a hero by default. What an ever lucky man!

Folks like Anenih should leave GEJ alone. They failed him when it mattered most

This old man think he is smart. Not so fast! Anenih (Mr Corruption- fixer) must be taken to the bank to bring back all the money he stole from the Nigerian people. Only then can we believe his useless salutation.
