INEC probes allegations of election fraud in Rivers

Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun investigation of allegation of malpractices in Saturday’s elections in Rivers State.

The All Progressives Congress, Sunday, had petitioned INEC, demanding outright cancellation and rescheduling of the presidential and National Assembly elections in Rivers State.

“The parody of election held in Rivers State on Saturday was characterised by deliberate non release of result sheets to nearly all the centres, active collaboration and collusion of the INEC staff with the People’s Democratic Party in undermining the credibility of the election,” APC said in the signed by its state chairman, Davies Ikanya.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Augusta Ogakwu on Monday, INEC said it had commissioned a fact-finding team, consisting of three of its national commissioners, Lai Olorode, Thelma Iremirem and Hammanga M.K., to investigate the APC petition.

The statement read: “Further to the allegation made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday 28th March, 2015 in Rivers state and its call for the cancellation of the exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set up a fact finding mission to ascertain the veracity of the claims and allegations and to advice the Commission and the Chief Electoral Commissioner/Returning Officer for the Presidential election.”

It added that the team had departed Rivers State and they were expected to submit their report before the end of the collation of results.

Following the consideration of the report, the Commission will make its decision known, the statement added.

The panels must interview the ghosts and ninjas that voted in Rivers.
PDP riggers were so d@ft when allocating the votes it didn’t cross their mind, APC couldn’t possibly have less than70,000 core party loyalties in Rivers not to talk of voters and yet you clocated them 69,000 votes . shuo!

Except if Jega has a special interest in Rivers State, otherwise, there is absolutely no need for this Committee on Rivers State. Otherwise, again, he would have suspended announcing all the results, and set up special committees for each state and wait for their findings because there is no state in Nigeria where contestants did not have serious complaints the result of which are detrimental to their interest.

In the case of Rivers State, let me judge from what the Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, told the whole world. He said, he went to the polls and insisted that unless he saw the result sheet, he won’t vote. INEC officials there refused to obliged. In the result Amaechi ordered his party in Rivers State not to participate. And explaining, the REC in Rivers State said, at polling booths, there is equality of citizen- everybody is ordinary and therefore Amaechi has no right to demand a preferential treatment. The most he could have done was to get accredited first, and when he comes back for the voting proper he can demand to see the Result Sheet and INEC may oblige him. But at the stage of accreditation, that Amaechi was absolutely wrong to come to impose his will on INEC and that was why they refused him.

Amaechi’s is a case of a pupil demanding to see the score sheet before writing his exams. If he refuses to write the exams because he was not obliged, it is absolutely preposterous by a rational, fair-minded person to cancel the examination. If Jega could not set up a Committee on Kano, et6c state, whose results have no bearing with passage through the Card Reader (purporting that Kano was more enthusiastic and vibrant than the Lagos population, which is absolute falsehood from the pit of hell), it is expression of undue interest to set up a Committee on Rivers State because Amaechi deliberately refused to participate.

Just as Jega announced his very curious North-West figures and dared the President to go to court if he disagrees, the only thing left for Jega is to announce the Rivers State result and let Amaechi to go to the court to prove the rightness of his preferential demand at the polls. As I know that no just body can cancel an examination for which a candidate has openly said, he refused to write because the examiner did not show him the result sheet in advance.

Is there any petition sitting with INEC from any other state mr Clueless?
You wrote a page full yet yu made no sense ?

      • Okey

Cluefull, Sir, I am not even opposed to a rerun or second election in Rivers State if that is what the anti-Jonathans want, what I did is to appraise the situation based on Governor Amaechi’s own statement which I saw on television. And I ask, Can one who refused to get accredited and vote be obliged any further ?

        • tundemash

Clueless One …. Amaechi refused to get accredited having known the PDP rigging trick . And the trick is to get people accredited and the send them home without voting taking place because no result sheet was present at the polling booth and that was exactly what happened. Are u not ashamed that your paymasters were that reckless in their desperation? To allocate 1.4m to PDP and less than 70k to APC ? Isn’t it curious that the SS/SE has over 95% accreditation rate compared with the rest of the country? They accuse you of being a thief and yet you are seeing dancing around with a baby goat in your hands!!! How clever is that ?

And I again ask you ….Is there any petition sitting with INEC from any other state you mentioned which INEC has not acted on ? as you lengthy hogwash was you were alegging Jega neglected electoral practise somewhere else while probing Rivers State.
