A section of the Federal High Court in Maitama Abuja has been gutted by fire.
A witness told PREMIUM TIMES that the fire was caused by power surge after electricity was restored to the building.
“When NEPA brought back the light, there was an explosion and a section of the building was on fire,” he said.
He explained that the section that was burnt, the Probate Section, handled letters of administration and wills.
Fire fighters later put out the inferno, he said.
No document was recovered and the court had no backup.
